Sure, I'm a sensitive guy and don't do PvP or MMO's for a reason (because the majority of players are immature little pr*** with entitled attitudes and superiority complexes IMO), but, come on guys. I have to agree that it is just a game.

If you've ever been actually bullied in real life - you know, actually beaten up or abused, this stuff is all fluff. It's just words. Sure they hurt, but, they are just words. Move on. Maybe it's because I'm older that I learned a long time ago the whole "Sticks and Stones" thing. Cyber bullying is a terrible thing because you can't get away from it - okay, you can - turn off your dern devices! But it's nothing new. Many of us had the same thing going on, only in person, when we were young (and some of us even today).

Just believe in yourself. Don't worry about what those other haters think of you. It takes a thick skin to survive in this world. People, on the whole, are not nice and do not have your best interests at heart, so ignore them. Just relish the ones you find that actually do!

Pretty sure there isnt a single person that plays this game that could take me in an IRL fight XD

Oh come on. Not a single person? Not even one?

    Settle down...

All anyone is saying, is that its a video game, and people tea bag in good humor in video games. For over a decade now.

It is not directed at anyone is particular, you are not singled out, you are just another player on the screen who could be ANYONE.

Dont let it affect you nearly so much, it truly is not important....

Why are you playing a video game where you murder people with blunt and sharpened weapons, or bows and fire? Dont think this is a game for you man, sorry (at least the PvP)

For those offended, I'm curious what the proposed solution would be. The animation being used in the taunt is the stealth animation. Clearly they aren't getting rid of stealth, nor should any restrictions be placed on it being used in quick succession as it impacts actual game play.

Policing such behavior would easily be abused by players simply upset that they died. So, beyond this whole meta-game "your taunt makes my feels hurt, lets step up as a community and shame people for taunting" (which won't happen, clearly people have different opinions on the subject), what would ZOS do for this "problem"?

Well, I've often thought that a player registry would be a good start at limiting the downside of internet anonymity and absence of consequences. Going in to the details of how that would work is way off topic though but I can totally see how it would work but it requires active participation by game makers.

So, basically "sign in with Facebook", more or less? That still doesn't do anything to reprimand the player in-game beyond "he/she said it happened".

Except that it would be incumbent upon the game makers to keep track of players who get reported in-game and for what and then decide if that player deserves to have a demerit recorded against their player registry account (which is a separate site) and the reason for the demerit. Combined with making each player's player registry account publically available and available in game better informs group formation, ignore lists, etc. and could even be enforced by the game makers in-game (like not auto grouping with people who reach a certain demerit threshold) - the idea here being to try and have consequences for sufficiently bad behavior. But it would never happen because it would require dedicated support by game makers.

ZOS will step in and punish a player for harassment. My point is that even if a player considers it harassment (note: I do not) there is no way to verify that anything actually happened.

Wow! What a reaction! Kudo's! I'm definitely going to try to emulate that during my next hissy fit.

No, but seriously. It's nothing personal. We all pretty much agree that it can be hurtful to have things like this happen, even in an online environment. Unfortunately, it's the reality of our age and we just need to let it roll off.

BTW - being sensitive does not make you a Sissy or a Failed Human. It just means your sensitive. That's all. And that's a good thing.

Take it from a misanthrope. Truly disliking humanity is a lot more that this silly stuff.

We're not all jerks. Sure, some of us are, but not everyone. Sometimes it truly is in good fun.

A lot of us act out online because of our own insecurities. Honestly, it's nothing personal. A lot of us out there, particularly in the MMO communities are young too. I know it's no excuse, but it takes time to become boring old fogies and, sometimes we just ask silly and don't think about how it makes others feel.

Rest assured, the majority of folk out there in the EOS community are great folks and definitely worth having as friends. Those who aren't? Meh... f*** 'em. They aren't worth your time anyhow.

And, yes, we can close this now. We're just talking in circles.

It is sad and no credit to this community that a topic about derogatory behaviour results in more bullying than was initially admonished.

What I have noticed is that the WORSE THE PLAYER.....the more they gloat.

I never get teab@gged by good players. It's always that guy who killed you 6 v 1 and he didn't even get the killing blow who comes over and tries to put you in your place.

And it bothers me, but not because it makes me feel bad, but only because it's a shame that people go through life so delusional.

I never gloat over bodies....ever. Because I consider my level of play to be effective gloating, to be effective trolling.

There is a level of decorum that should be shown throughout any interaction with other humans.

The fact that you are online in a fictional space does not negate that there are people behind the avatars, some of which have serious attachment to the avatar.

Whether you feel the same way about the situation really isn't relevant in this context.

We are social beings, which is why these games thrive in the first place right? The way I look at teabagging is the same way I look at the "bundle of sticks" word and the "uneducated and ignorant" word. Both of these words are socially unacceptable, but many people use them in close proximity to those they know won't be offended by it.

The "teabag" specifically is more than a celebration.

Dancing, shoveling, sweeping, music, clapping, jeering whatever is a celebration.

Intentionally doing something that has a connotation of sexual assault is not a form of celebration to a lot of people.

Think about what you are actually pretending to do, putting your exposed virtual private parts on the head of another "person".

Yes, it is "fake", but the implication of threat is real.

It comes down to realizing that there are quite a few people that look at the act as derogatory and demeaning. Yes it is a competitive arena and it is not meant to be hugs and flowers, but there are limits.

My main point is if you know that something you are doing either in life or in virtual world truly bothers people, why would you continue to do it?
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

It's always these guys who rarely win a fight that feel the need to bask in the glow of their rare, fluke victory.

I think your correct about this. I do it when i know it was an unfair gank way more often then if I win a 1 on 1. You know why? Cause its absurd to gloat in this instance and thats why its funny.
