Poor Sportmanship/Bulling

Unfortunately this game only supports good sportsmanship if the players involved understand the concept.

Case in point:

I'm a good and known ganker, however I don't hit non-vet characters and don't teabag or emote other players. If I get killed by skilled players who out skilled me I try and whisper them to congratulate them where possible and you'd be surprised the number of people out there who are decent. I also hate when fellow players camp spawn points inside the gates and force any groups I'm in to go somewhere else if I can. This is good sportsmanship since it gives enemy players a chance to get some play in and at least try to beat me/us. It also means PvP lasts longer than just making people quit and then sitting there for ages with nothing to do.

Some people might say that as a ganker I'm the epitome of bad sportsmanship, however the game caters for ganking and has counters to deal with it unlike teabagging corpses or having a 20 man raid kill you as soon as you set foot outside your home base.

As for those who do the teabagging, it's annoying and a sign of immaturity, but take solace in the occasional moments where they get killed by your allies or the 3rd alliance or where their activities blind them to the incoming train of friendly reinforcements. Simply repay the compliment after they've been steamrolled by their own stupidity.

Well, when you're not a kid fresh out of high school/college/university (or still in it), then such things naturally won't appeal to you.

Of course these days I refer to anyone under 40 as still a kid.

I always teabag people I killed. Expecially when it was a 1v1. I HAVE to do it, you know? And when the teabagged person then decides to write to you the funniest conversations happen. Totally worth it!

reality check this is not bullying. those from the UK probably have seen the recent viral video of what bullying is. this is someone being overly sensitive to something that happens on screen. The same screen which only seconds ago would have shown their character getting hit with arrow, set fire to or hit repeatedly hit with an axe etc.
If your that sensitive to things on screen maybe give games especially online ones a miss. Either that or your qq because your pride got hurt deal with it it happens to all of us we all die there is no one in cyrodiil runnig around with no deaths.

If you are laying there in Cyrodiil long enough for someone to teabag you did you ever consider that someone may be doing it (or other emotes) to get you to respawn somewhere else? Granted I usually do it for my own amusement but if I see your dead carcass laying near a keep, I'm going to assume you're only doing it so that someone can res you so you can kill more of my teammates.

Never considered that. When this situation happens it usually sends me into emote overdrive. Haha.

Quick side story ... 2 days ago my buddy and I fought off 5 nightblades ranging from level 20 to VR14 (we are VR2 and VR7). When we fought off all the cannon fodder we focused on the VR14 and took him down. Big PVP moment there. In order to celebrate we "burried the body" and played music. The VR14 refused to respawn so for a solid 15 minutes we just kept on doing it because his buddies kept on coming back to try to res him. Eventually about 20 people got together and zerged us to death. They followed it up by parading on my corpse and conducting what looked like a 15 piece orchastra.

I deserved it and realized what it was. A backhanded show of respect for a tough opponent. If I sucked they wouldn't have even bothered. If I didn't spawn camp the VR14s body I also would have died much quicker too when they rezzed him.

Moral of the story ... stuff happens. Not everything is a referendum on your feelings. And sometimes, when adults are having fun, disrespect can be the highest form of respect.

Look, "tea bagging" is stupid and juvenile, and I don't do it myself. I have also never been offended when someone does it to me. To get so worked up about it is just as bad as the person doing it. This isn't a case of bullying it's a case of poor sportsmanship. Bullying would be someone harassing you with whispers, which people have also done to me. Again I don't whisper people because I am a mature adult and I have better things to do. But if someone did whisper me and I didn't like it, I would just block them.

I seriously cannot understand HOW people can get affected by this emotionally in real life... If I see someone teabagging me, I see it as a challenge Also, my many years of playing LoL and COD have probably made me immune to this stuff I guess.

actully i agree with OP teabagging is wrong so is killing someone thats even worse.

my suggestion we start a guild and instead of killing each other wich is savage and destorying the youth of today making them babaric killing/teabagging monsters we have tea partys where we all sit and talk nicely and drink tea and the only teabagging that will happen is the making of the tea.

We can all agree it's immature and bad sportsmanship.

However, if it hurts your feelings so bad that you find it necessary to make a thread about it, or consider it ACTUAL bullying.... maybe you just need some thicker skin or need to stay away from PvP all together.

I get the OP's point. I really do. I haven't done any PvP in this game yet but have been subjected to plenty of tea bagging in BF3/4. It's childish and stupid but it doesn't bother me like it does the OP. The thing about this is that it's not going change. Childish taunting and trash talking is a part of multiplayer gaming. It's a part of just about every game or sport in which men compete. Call it the ugly side of competition or call it a relatively harmless result of competition, but it's not going away. Chess is about the only competition i've engaged in where at least some 'attitude' wasn't displayed in competition.

Fair or not, the choices are to shrug it off or not participate.

The process of someone crouching over and over doesn't bother me in the least. It's when these jerks message you with constant harassment messages calling all kinds of names and such is getting old though. 99% of the messages that are sent from faction to faction in PVP aren't appropriate. There's no point in allowing these messages to be sent in the first place. The majority of the people sending them are just being d*uche bags anyway. Get rid of the ability already!

You're right, but you can report them and also block them. Problem solved.

Teabagging and BM'ing/disrespecting is actually not JUST for only the fun of it. It actually gives you an advantage if you can get them angry and on tilt. People play worse if they are stressed and angry. But I have to admit that most players just do it to make people suffer for the fun of it ^^

I do have to agree that insulting messages/whispers are really annoying (I would personally never do that). But then again, we have the ignore button for that Just report the player, ignore and keep kicking ass in PvP.

It's a game. Nobody forces you to play. Nobody forces you to PvP. If you didn't know what repeatedly crouching meant you wouldn't be offended anyway. Seriously, grow up.

People may go homicidal, maybe suicidal, yes it's extreme but it happens! when people can shout server wide that another person is a "Pathetic Looser that will never be as good as they(the speaker) are" (No really I am quoting someone, an actual player who said that) without facing repercussion, something is wrong.

Oh and don't you dare pull the "If you hate it so much, just stop" card cause NO, you are not bullying me out of a game that I like (again). I like the game, I hate the people. If people wont change then there should be a stronger punishment for them cause I swear cyberbullies are more hinderances to communities than me sucking at pvp will ever be.

mmo's BEGAN as Open World PvP, EQ Changed it and added PvE and because other companies didn't want ppl crying on their forums all day and night they mostly kept it as PvE

Funnily enough then they started going towards more Solo orientated as well, UO had a simple answer, GROUP UP, HUNT DOWN THOSE PREYING ON INNOCENT AND MUSH THEM INTO THE GROU .. umm, maybe getting a bit carried away.

But unless you intend to solo an entire game, PVP should be no problem if ppl bother to group and work together, which by the sounds of it many can't be bothered to do as it's easier to moan until ZoS cave in

You have to be able to make a logical distinction between what is bullying and what isn't. "Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others." "Teabagging" doesn't fit any of that criteria. Not even a little. Is it insulting? Maybe, if such things insult you. But it's not bullying. Can whispering another player be an act of bullying. Certainly. But there are already things in place to counter that. Reporting and blocking the player being primary among them.
