You talk of juvenile yet your reaction to teabagging is exactly that.

Someone celebrating a victory over your virtually dead corpse should not trigger the feelings you are experiencing.

Close your eyes, take deep breaths and think of things that actually matters. What about the kids that die from starvation in Africa every second.

League of Legend's Tribunal system went a long way to solve this. Players would report each other for harassment or inappropriate language/behaviour, then these reports would be shown to other players for judgement. Despite the toxicity of the overall experience, most of the community didn't appreciate it and punished such behaviour. People who participated in this behaviour, almost without exception, stopped after ONE Tribunal-punished offence.
Now incidents of this kind of behaviour are very small - something like 2% of games.

A system like that would not only allow the community to police itself, it would effectively allow for the handling of a much larger volume of report cases. Hopefully that would eventually means that the more aggressive, perverse, or foul-mouthed members would be made clearly unwelcome, encouraged to either leave or adapt and join the rest of us in civilisation.

And we think that a player tea bagging would actually be a punishable offense in a tribunal? From the reaction of most of the players in this thread i seriously seriously doubt it. And for the record if a tribunal was held and tea bagging WAS punished some people are way to oversensitive for the internet seriously.

To equate a few /sneak emotes with online bullying trivializes actual instances where people have been bombarded with post on their Facebook urging them to kill themselves and completely stripping a person of their self worth. Im sorry but i don't put an animated motion in the same stratosphere as these occurrences.

Wouldn't this get abused by false tea bagging reports? Griefers reporting harassment that hadn't actually happened.

false reports are easy to determine ... reports require evidence

Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

How on earth does getting teabagged in a computer game make you feel demoralized and humiliated?

Because you know that there's a REAL PERSON on the other end who is laughing and gloating at you expense. It amazes me that this needs to be explained to anybody, but apparently it does.

Now then you juvenile people who seem not to understand the harm they do...The reason you get grounded for doing it in school or at home with your familly, that you get booed/punished/fired when you do that at work or in sport...THE reason is this..it's WRONG WRONG SO WRONG.
Just type "Words Hurts" in Youtube, there is a lot of videos and commercials on the matter and it would seem that you do not get the point. Words, action, they hurt even from a computer screen. I couldn't careless if Mannimarco kills me over and over and laugh at me and all, he is an AI programmed to be a d!**, but when it comes from another person, it's something else.
Not everyone can "ignore" or "get over it", not many can laugh it up either, heck I don't think this matter should be ignored. There are people out there, me included, who have never been able to build up that shield, that bulletproof vest that people tell us to build to take all the gun shots. People may go homicidal, maybe suicidal, yes it's extreme but it happens! when people can shout server wide that another person is a "Pathetic Looser that will never be as good as they(the speaker) are" (No really I am quoting someone, an actual player who said that) without facing repercussion, something is wrong.

Oh and don't you dare pull the "If you hate it so much, just stop" card cause NO, you are not bullying me out of a game that I like (again). I like the game, I hate the people. If people wont change then there should be a stronger punishment for them cause I swear cyberbullies are more hinderances to communities than me sucking at pvp will ever be.

I prefered making it a topic instead of going through all the Imperial city threads to make my point

Why not see it as a compliment, you were teabagged by a lesser mortal a better one wouldn't have acknowledged your death and that to me hurts more

See, I would not even think of doing this to someone. I even said it was wrong when the guildmate did it to an NPC Boss. I guess when you get to be an old fart you stop taking fun at someone else's expense.

It's not so much a matter of being too old to take fun at others expense, its that we were raised in a time where we were taught to treat others with respect. Sadly it doesn't happen today

I do not see the issue with teabagging. Its a form of celebration about a victory over your enemy and happens in pve as much as it does pvp.

Now bullying and namecalling and intentionally hurtful words (you are a noob and should go kill yourself... for example) are wrong. They are even more wrong online because people should have the common sense to not want to ruin other people's fun in a game. If the only enjoyment from a game you get is by ruining other people's fun then you need to take a long hard look at what you're doing in life.

i don't get mad because they teabagged me, i get mad because i can't retaliate... and trust me, i would make them suffer. i wouldn't classify teabagging in a game bullying. yeah it pisses me off, but thats the point for those that do it. i have done plenty enough PVP to know its usually the tools doing it anyways. you gotta just walk away when it happens... i usually know im done once i hammer fist my keyboard as much as i would like their heads lol

Personally I think it´s poor sportsmanship if you emote your opponent after a fair fight or when you outnumber him. Same goes for stealth ganking. There is no accomplishment associated with shooting someone who does not have time to react at all. It´s like wanting to race a toyota corolla with your ferrari at a traffic light... Only *** would do so.

I do emote when i´ve killed particularly annoying players, known gankers or when i´ve won severely outnumbered fights.

I think you are missing an important thing about life,

I understand that you find it upsetting, but personally I find it amusing when someone does it to my corpse, I see it as a type of camaraderie between rivals in PVP.

Every thing comes down to how you perceive things, I think the below sums this up quite well. Everything depends on your own personal perspective, but you are able to change your own perspective into something more positive like I have for these situations.

Today was the absolute worst Day ever
And don’t try and convince me that
    There’s something good in everyday
Because, when you take a closer look,
This world is a pretty evil place,
    Even if
Some goodness does shine through once in a while
    Satisfaction and happiness don’t last
    And it’s not true that
It’s all in the mind and heart
    Because
    True happiness can be obtained
Only if one’s surroundings are good
It’s not true that good exisits
I’m sure you can agree that
    The reality
    Creates
    My attitude
    It’s all beyond my control
And you’ll never in a million years hear me say that
    Today was a good day

I do emote in Cyrodiil. I /bow to those I know are better than me and where I won due to circumstances. I /spit on those that usually win by exploiting. I do not do that in massively unbalanced battles (7+ vs 1 and one of the 7 blues laughs at the corpse is pretty cute. He died to my snipes while laughing, btw) nor in unfair situations (I never emote after a gank).

What I will never tolerate is teabagging. The moment one of my group does that, he will get booted to never return.
  • IBentley92

I have noticed that people on these forums are way too 'sensitive'. People get upset about millions of things and now, it is teabagging, being called an idiot in chat etc..

Internet resources are on average not a very friendly place to be, it is not a Christmas dinner or a trip to a Sunday church service. Take Dota 2 or any other game, there are always poor mannered players around, and ESO has surely one of the friendliest communities, although often carebearing.

People who play this game are generally 20+ yrs old, employed and have children. And I am absolutely frustrated how those 'mature' people are feeling insecure due to someone dancing on their corpse in Cyrodil. If you cannot take a virtual offence in the form of an emote, then I feel sorry for you.

This is a multiplayer game involving competition. If some people feel like performing an emote over your corpse, why should you be so outraged, to start a forum discussion on this topic? No one has a right to teach anyone their morals or tell them how to behave, it is not a kindergarten, it's a mmo which is full of different people which are free to behave however they want (I am, of course not including obvious restrictions such as racism etc). And if you want to play this game, you shall learn to deal with it. This community has to harden up because people are getting offended by ridiculous things.

(P.S. - if a random 12yr old would kick you in the foot irl on the street, or a teenager would tell you to **** off, would you feel demoralised? Would you come back home In tears and begin a forum post about kids offending you? If not, why would you do that in game?)

I would tell him off for being arrogant and disrespectful. If I knew him, I'd mention it to his parents. If I was in a position of authority, he'd be grounded. What I wouldn't do is "grow a pair" and ignore it no matter what. Indifference equals approval of continued inappropriate behavior.

There will always be immature, rude and outright cruel people. It doesn't mean we should support it. It often isn't worth getting worked up over, I agree, but I think there's value in talking about how different actions affects different members of the community: from small things like inappropriate emotes and name calling, to *** jokes and death threats. Some of us need a thicker skin... and maybe some others need to soften up a little.

Sheesh players these days. They didn't have squating in old mmo's so they use to type *assrape* in a chat bubble over your corpse back in Ultima Online. That's after the pk'er takes all your stuff from killing you naked with nothing but a bow or a double halberd hit.

I actually get a good laugh when my guy gets teabagged. I play a stealth ganker so when I do get flushed out it's all hate from the other side "oh it's that guy who's been sniping us and running away." I swear I had a dozen or so enemy over my corpse teabagging but I earned that with burning their siege weapons and sniping their wounded

Man up. If you can't take the teabagging stay out of the tea cabinet.

That's online gaming right there my friend. I teabag other players all the time, cause it's just a joke. If your real life mood is being affected by someone teabagging your body, you should really stay away from PvP.

Bullying is actually whispering someone that they're bad, but teabagging is just a joke my friend.

It also might be just me being used to playing games with toxic communities :^)

So many cliches and stereotypes in this thread who insist they don't condone bullying but then dismiss it in the same sentence.

Unfortunately this game only supports good sportsmanship if the players involved understand the concept.

    Case in point:

I'm a good and known ganker, however I don't hit non-vet characters and don't teabag or emote other players. If I get killed by skilled players who out skilled me I try and whisper them to congratulate them where possible and you'd be surprised the number of people out there who are decent. I also hate when fellow players camp spawn points inside the gates and force any groups I'm in to go somewhere else if I can. This is good sportsmanship since it gives enemy players a chance to get some play in and at least try to beat me/us. It also means PvP lasts longer than just making people quit and then sitting there for ages with nothing to do.

Some people might say that as a ganker I'm the epitome of bad sportsmanship, however the game caters for ganking and has counters to deal with it unlike teabagging corpses or having a 20 man raid kill you as soon as you set foot outside your home base.

As for those who do the teabagging, it's annoying and a sign of immaturity, but take solace in the occasional moments where they get killed by your allies or the 3rd alliance or where their activities blind them to the incoming train of friendly reinforcements. Simply repay the compliment after they've been steamrolled by their own stupidity.

I honestly wonder how people who get overly upset about things like this deal with real life. How do you cope with injury, illness, divorce, work stress, death of friends/family, etc, etc if you can't handle someone being a *** in a computer game?
