FInally, risk vs reward in ESO!

Really glad to see some risk vs reward in ESO, previously PVP deaths meant very little.

I'm also really pleased with the system they set up with the bonus multipliers to scale the risk vs reward for people of different levels of risk.

    It's all about balance.
I don't think you should loose all your current stones upon player defeat. I think 50% would have been plenty to both, elicit the risk against reward feeling without having people loose everything they've just collected due to one mistake/gank.
I'm not sure what "balance" would mean in this system, but what we can all be 200% sure that there would be one big gank-fest.
Casuals always win over the hardcore, in most MMOs.
Yes, casuals "win". Especially those shouting "Please don't kill me, I'm only questing!". What a BS.

Those of us who mainly PvE can't have our Tel Var Stones from daily quests looted from us, so that's one good thing. I'm going to laugh when the PvP areas turn into a barren wasteland of nothing but NPC mobs and gankers stealthed in corners waiting for someone to come along, but no one is going to come along because the only other players in the area are other stealthed gankers....

I give IC a couple a couple of months and the average player will not be going into the IC and it will be a ghost town, they will be tired of being ganked around every corner, a lot of people I think will not find it fun after a while, the whole key to any kind of sustainable pvp is both sides of the keyboard need to be having fun.

I hope the balance pass and some of the other things going into the game cut back or out the instsjibs and glaring imbalances this game has, plus with all the broken and exploitable game mechanics being able to loot something off a player is just bad juju. I am not worried for myself I am thinking of the overall health of the game, I want to see IC survive and be a cool place but there are just to many people that like to grief and ruin the game play for others sad really :(

I feel this is an awesome addition to the pvp system. Pve'ers need to realize there are options available to obtain TV and totally bypass pvp.

im actually so much more excited about this patch then initially because of that ESO live ep. I dont want these pve scrubs to ruin it. Brian Wheeler wont let it happen.

Finally! a thread for those that want and embrace a bit of a challenge!

Seriously, I am not even that good at PVP, but this is something I will enjoy. So what if I don't get to keep a bunch of stones? at least I will have fun ^_^

You want a challenge? Why not PVP play where you lose half of your gear and all of your gold?

    I'd be keen on that.

Every time you die while PvPing delete half your gear and give all your gold away, easy no?

Oh great, naked and penniless PvPers running around all the time, with their gear and gold safely deposited in the bank.

You do realise the nonsense of that statement?Without PvE there simply would be no game whatsoever. Everyone knows that the vast, vast majority of players in any given mmo are those that can be classified primarily in the PvE classification.

There is a saying; you should not bite the hand that feeds. The single worst thing Zenimax, or any other developer could do is look solely at a situation from a PvP perspective and not a PvE. That would be completely and utterly suicide for the game. Just because the Imperial City lies in the middle of Cyrodiil does not mean the expansion is there just for those of us that partake in the alliance war. And any entitlement you feel it's location gives you to demand and expect your opinion to be worth more weight than another player or another play-style, just because of some self-inflated opinion of importance, is very far from any reality.
If you can be anything, be kind.

Well people complain there's no risk involved in dying when they themselves can create their own set of risks without dragging people around them into it.

It's simple really, but apparently everyone has to suffer.

This actually second thing what has Risk and Reward, Justice system is first, Im liking where this is headed. If Risk and Reward is going to be the thing, why not let players choose how much they want to risk, like lose 100% of your Stones but gain them fast, or then lose only 30% and gain them little bit slower. That should give some motivation for Cyrodil, you could really gamble it, if you wanted.

If the update brings what I saw on ESO Live, hardcore players will finally be rewarded and entertained in ESO for the first time since launch.

Casuals always win over the hardcore, in most MMOs. Expect this to be tweaked a few months after release.

Also, you have been entertained since the day you started playing this game, otherwise you wouldn't be here now, so that statement about being entertained for the first time since launch is incorrect.

The hardcore part of me hasn't been entertained.

Out of curiosity, what it requires for your hardcore part to be entertained? Killing scrub pve players until you realize that there's no challenge and the first giggles are gone?

I would imagine that pvp players especially hardcore ones would seek good challenge and even fights. Small scale pvp and arenas.

As a PvE player I'm especially happy that bosses will reward a lot more Tel Var stones that normal mobs. Boss hunting might finally become a viable playstyle. Even more so with less people, because the rewards are split.

Seeing how many stones you can collect before dying, the chance of getting jumped by better or more numerous players... It's all there.

Even a good player will feel the sense of danger in Imperial City, and if you aren't good I suggest you form a group to compensate for this.

I do still want Arenas/BGs though, as well as big epic raids on the PvE side of things

Yes. I want arena. But, that won't happen it seems. Still IC seems better than nothing.

Of course theres a challenge here, cus if you die you lose ur stones. That way theres always a challenge.

This is kinda interesting as one basically gets stones either PvE in IC or killing people that do PvE in IC. We all know what PvP players think of PvE. The element of danger that someone jumps on you or outplays you has always been present in Cyrodiil.

I'm welcoming this new content myself. I just see it kinda funny how some people cheer that finally they will get their enjoyment of killing people that would prefer PvE over PvP. Which will get boring very soon.

So I was right. You get your kicks from killing unsuspecting players trying to get stones for gear. Like said above there has always been element of danger. I do not see challenge in ganking people for some stones. Maybe you see challenge for yourself on how to hide and secure your "hard earned" stones after many easy kills.

Im going to reserve judgment for the most part, I agree the risk vs reward does 'seem' to be pretty cool, but I do have some fears about it too. It honestly just depends on what happens to campaigns and population after the fixes and update.

Oh dear... did you just say unsuspecting players? Just stop making a fool of yourself. When you are in a place like IC, you gotta expect to be attacked, and compete for stones. There will be danger around every corner. It's not ganking unless the guy who dies is in his own fantasy world and aint expecting ppl to attack him. Look it up, the meaning of "ganking". It doesn't exist in a system like this, cus everyone CAN defend themselves and should know about the dangers of being inside IC.

"I do not see challenge in ganking people for some stones"??? It's fighting for stones, not ganking.
