@NDwarf , Again, they're bankable. They should not be mailable, and you shouldn't have the option of using /stuck to the wayshrine while you have stones on your person, or you have the option to forfeit the stones if you do.

That was the least fun I ever had in a mmo

Because its fun? Games are designed for mindless pvers and its nice to spoil the party for them every once in a while and force them to actually think on their feet. A pvp player dies and shrugs it off and moves on but a PVEr cries, posts for nerfs on the forums and campaigns for the removal of all player conflict in every aspect of an mmo.
I am so sick and tired of posts like this. The issue ALL of us PvPers have is that it is no fun at all to be killed without chance of fighting back. Any and all serious balancing complaint is about combinations that kill instantly. Of course there is the share of trolls - same as for PvEers by the way - that complain for complaining's sake, but that is actually a small number.Nyghthowler wrote: »Elitetownie wrote: »

I call B.S. PvP'ers are the biggest cry babies in the game.
"This one time, I lost to (insert class here) and they used this one skill that I'm too incompetent to counter, so that class is O.P. !!! Devs, if you care about the BALANCE of the game you will NERF them so I can always win. Otherwise I will cancel my account and so will my whole guild!!!"
I cant begin to remember how many of this type of post has been on these forums since launch.

Yeah, there's a reason why games like that aren't around anymore or games that try to bring that way of playing back do not last (there have been quite a few MMOs who attempted to do so over the years).
Rose-tinted glasses aside, this will be an interesting, and more likely, unfortunately situation for Xenimax and this game...

I dont think gankers will be such a big problem because their damage will be reduced. If you survive the first damage burst they usually have no changes because their sustain is terrible. Groups of gankers on the other hand..
How many players in Ultima Online? How many new players every year?Celestrael wrote: »xoduspaladin wrote: »Celestrael wrote: »Back in my day, on old school Ultima Online, when you died, your entire inventory and everything that you were wearing was lootable from your corpse. Actually, Ultima Online launched in 1998 and it's still online. You're probably familiar with the company that made it too, Origin. Many MMOs have come and went but it's still there. There's also a thriving Free Shard system where players have reverse engineered earlier versions of the game (before it was made more newb friendly) to get that nostalgic feeling of a hardcore MMO.
But nice try.

I honestly don't know how someone can stand developing these games. They're better men and women than me, because knowing that THIS is my clientele, is absolute torture.

According to the German forum ZOS_KaiSchober:
Tel'Var stones appear in its own space and not in the inventory. Thus they do not take up any space, can not be traded or mailed. The only way to bring them to safety, it is personal store with a banker. Mailings or other objects do not function.
You should be a politician, they're great at spinning bad news. The word "lootable" I think invites bad responses. Reword it, and maybe it doesn't sound as bad:
"If you are killed in the Imperial City, you will lose Tel Var stones. Killing another player will reward Tel Var stones in addition to AP and XP."
Don't get me wrong, it all sounds great. A real living world. But I don't have it in me to ruin the day of another person like this, not even in a video game, and standing on the other side I'm happy to hide behind the law enforcement and see criminals like you brought to justice. You can't really expect me to support your leeching lifestyle that leaves me dead and a few Tel Var stones poorer.Celestrael wrote: »Ultima Online was extremely open ended at launch. You could do anything. You could put a house anywhere there was a clearing, you could either be law abiding or a criminal, there were no classes just skills you could choose to level up, you could tame all sorts of animals including dragons to fight for you, etc etc.
I chose the criminal route because it was more fun hunting people than mobs. I would scope out prominent PvE'ers houses and figure out about what time they came and went. Then I'd stealth outside their door and wait, and kill them when they came home to drop off their stuff. I'd hide outside of good PvEing spots and kill players leaving. I'd hide out near quarries where miners were collecting ore to make ingots, then kill them and their pack mule and take the ingots to make my gear.
I was ruthless, but it was fun. And lucrative. There were drawbacks of course, there was no penalty to killing me (my name was red and I was always fair game). I couldn't enter towns or cities because if someone typed "Guards!" I was insta killed by guard. I was also mistrusted by most of the games population. The Reds stuck together though and had safehouses throughout the world, and had non-red characters that would bring us weapons, reagents for casting, horses to ride, etc.

Yes, I like these kind of PvP uber-attitude and all the claims how OP PvPers are, only to see them failing miserably on basic end-game PvE content mechanics shortly afterwards.Elitetownie wrote: »Games are designed for mindless pvers and its nice to spoil the party for them every once in a while and force them to actually think on their feet.
