Dyes

Let's also add vampire bites, werewolf bites, skill points, extra attributes, auto quest completion tokens, and god mode to the crown store. Sorry I know what you mentioned was a cosmetic option but seriously a lot of people seem obsessed with what could be added to the crown store and while this isn't the worst most of the suggestions are quite on the cheezy side. Besides why do you want to pay really money to color your armor in a game where half your skills are bugged out, quests are broken, PVP is a hot mess, people are lagging out for literally no reason, and there's already an option to do it for free, you just have to EARN it, scary as that is. So no I don't advocate being able to unlock everything through the use of real money, I think motif books and riding lessons on the crown store are already bad enough.

I'm going to take the time to quibble with you a bit here. I don't have ANY bugged skills, on any of my characters of all classes. Granted on all but DK I don't have veteran chars, and don't have any staff based skill lines leveled up all the way, but the skills in this game aren't bugged, sorry.

I've never had a quest that was broken that couldn't be fixed by abandoning the quest then picking it back up, and never one I needed to do that with more than a couple steps in. And I've gotten the achievement for "Adventurer" in every area except The Rift (I have maybe 10 more quests in there) and Cyrodiil. Not sure where your bugged quests are. Disagree.

PVP is a hot mess and people are lagging for no reasons. Nope, sorry, disagree again. I really am not sure what you mean when you say "hot mess" so I won't even touch that, but lagging for no reason? Nope, doesn't happen. Oh there's lag, don't get me wrong, and tons of it, but it happens when there are tons of players in one area, especially ones that are casting certain abilities such as meteor, fear, magica detonation, etc ... but for no reason? Never happened to me or anyone I know.

There's a whole list of screwed up night blade abilities (one of the four classes!), half the vampires skills don't work right, and lags only when there are tons of players? If you mean 30-40 in a game that promised and showcased hundreds. Disagree all you want but every issue I mentioned has at least a few dozen threads on it and tons of other players complaining about them. I can't personally explain why your experience is so "perfect".

No skills bugged out! Read the upcoming patch notes.

wouldnt you rahter have a toggleable aura that allows you to look like a saint, a ghost or have red glowing eyes for your master vampire, than just a colour you can use?

Nope. Would not use any of those. I don't even use the pets I have. I'll stick with the dyes.

I also find it kind of telling that all the objectors so far have been PvPers as well. I'm unlikely to get some of the awesome colors associated with Trials also yet I've not seen a single person who has the dyes associated with that content pop in here and go, "No! You no can haz! Iz all MINE!" LOL

You would be mistaken there. I have PvPd on occasion, but I'm barely rank 4 (my dream is to unlock Caltrops and Barrier eventually.), and I think by now I've spent more time in Trials than I have spent in PvP (though I've spent a lot of time in Cyrodiil doing quests to complete the map on 2 characters and almost done with a 3rd). I have the colours for completion and time trial for AA and HRC. I really really want the green for completing Sanctum, but I haven't gotten there yet.

I have the Sanctum green, fetching beautiful color. The brown for the time trial, eh just don't ever wear it in public. Ever.

I think what it comes down to is the difference in approach: You want cool PvE stuff, work as a group. Cool PvP stuff, well get good scrub omg why you always want things just handed to you I had to work for mine, ugh. (Lots of snark there guys, try not to get offended, it is a joke.) PvPers are just more used to having to fight for what they have gotten, they worked that hard so they want others to as well. PvE guys, they just want more people running end game content, please.

    LOL! Noted.
TBH, the AA white is supposed to be awesome, but at least on light armor it tends to be blindingly shiny, so I hardly ever put it on anything, except as a trim.

Why have something that is free in game and most of which are easy to obtain cost real money. I fail to see the logic.
  • CJisInsane
I've worked hard to get the dyes I have already, putting them in the crown store would make it feel like Warframe. Just a cash grab to me. If people really want certain dyes, work for them. Do your achievements.

People would buy it. Think about it. In this age of supposed entitlement gamers who are lazy and want everything handed to them, you think the option to unlock all dyes for a one time payment wouldn't sell? It's kind of respectable that ZOS hasn't resorted to this tbh.

The crown store is a cash grab. It's designed to sell you things. Whether dyes are sold on it or not would not change it's purpose.

Guys...I hate to break it to you but... you are NOT WORKING HARD for anything! You're playing a game. You are officially GOOFING OFF! Dear gods, at least I KNOW I'm just wasting leisure time whenever I fire this thing up! LOL Seriously, consider finding something REAL to be proud of.

    @MornaBaine
Yeah, I know, but it sure feels like work, albeit an enjoyable kind of work to me! I mean, I specifically set out to achieve goals listed in the journal in the game, many of which I set about achieving specifically for the color! So forgive me for being proud of the colors I feel I have earned the right to wear!

And BTW, I do have much in my own "real" life that I am proud of. Just today I successfully converted an existing application to run a newer version .NET MVC, and assisted a junior developer in setting up his source control. But you know, I get paid to do that, so twice a month I get my reward for it. Let me keep the colors as my reward for the "fun work" I do in ESO, please! :)

Actually, two of my friends got the Regicide Red achievement almost by accident. While they do PvP on occasion, we were in Cyrodiil doing PvE and saw a fight break out close to us and went to help. The opposing Emperor showed up and got killed twice in the course of about 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, I was either dead or too far away either of those times, or I would have gotten it too.

Basically how I got Regicide Red, on a level 15ish toon in Blackwater Blade, just goofing around. It took a huuuuge amount of effort to check zone chat to see where the action was, head there and join in the fight. It may have exceeded 45 minutes of playing time! I was in my comfy chair mashing buttons for nearly an hour, I really shouldn't enjoy my dye color so much, since it's not really an achievement, but there you go. It's like I made a slight effort instead of throwing money at my first world problem, not having the precise shade of red I wanted.

    May all beings have happiness
May they be free from suffering
May they find the joy that has never known suffering
May they be free from attachment and hatred

I think dyes are a perfect example of something that could be available in the Crown Store. Now we have the Crown Store in game I think it should be filled with as many sensible items/options as possible. After all it is now one of the major earners for the future development/survival of ESOTU.

Whilst there is already a fair span of dye colours in the game, there's still a lot of scope for more and varied types, in terms of how they dye clothing/armour, reflect light etc. For example dyes like Celestial Violet (a Trials achievement dye) that dye various materials a combination of two colours simultaneously, with the currently in-game lighting/angle resulting in which is reflected more.

I cannot see a problem with new dyes being available, or even dyes already in-game being available. Those that don't want them simply don't have to purchases them, and those do can. It's really a win win.

If dyes in the crown store means zos can put in more work, then yes. Singles and in packs. Flats, pastels, metallics, fluorescense, reds, blues, yellows, greys. Blah blah.

Absolutely agreed. The sad fact is that I simply don't LIKE many of the colors available. And yes, I'd pay for the colors I DO want because I really like character customization options and yes, to support the game so they can finally get on track with offering us REAL content on a regular basis. I'm actually a little shocked and appalled at how they UNDER UTILIZE the Crown Store. They'd make an absolute killing on ploymorph costumes alone and this is stuff that's already in the game, they don't have to make anything "new" and they already have the ability to do polymorphs. I am stunned we don't see daedra, zombies, werewolves. Ah ZoS, let us help you! We WANT to! LOL

Trust me guys there are PLENTY of colours not available in-game yet - at least, not that I've found.

Where are the real oranges? Not these rusty colours - ORANGE.
Where are the bright yellows and greens? Not these desaturated pastels - bold colours like insect chitin.
Where are the dark smokier greens and blues? Not the intense dark blues, but the soft midnight tints.

Hell if you could please just give us a colour wheel + brightness slider, I would be so happy.

I think you're completely missing the point, you are suggesting better awards and mentioning things like titles, trinkets and costumes. Titles completely lack customization, you can use one and one only. Plus most of the recognizable dyes have titles already as well. Trinkets with funny effects, hell no, they get instantly deleted every time I get one. Costumes.. meh. The ones I got for getting VR rank 1+ years ago I haven't actually used once. Ever. If it was amazing costumes, well.. maybe, but it doesn't hold half the value of a dye that you can use to customize whatever you wish.

I understand not being able to get the dyes you want, trust me I also want Legate's black. I even do a metric *** of PvP, but on now 9 different characters so I'll never get it either. However if it ended up on the crown store it would nullify 100% of my efforts put into things like "General Executioner" which I stayed up several late nights farming dolmens for, just for the dye colour. Plus, I don't want it at all if it means buying it with $$$. I'd want it if I earned it.

You can play wise and mighty all you want and say that no one puts any effort into anything, in which case I recommend you open another tab in your browser and look up for example this thing called e-sports that the kids are doing nowadays. Not saying this is it, but it's really not up to you to decide how much "effort" is put in by someone. I work 40-50 hours a week like most people and have been emperor 3 times, because I put in that effort. Clearly I enjoyed doing it, since I did it again and then .. again .. but if there was no reward, I probably would have never tried in the first place.

So....dyes are the only reason you PvP and you'd quit doing it if people could buy dyes, even new ones not attached to PvP rewards?
