If arenas are coming, Why are you charging us for First one ?

Give us one that everyone can use first.
Than charge us after for more maps for arenas.

I feel like people missing the point.
Im not against charging for Future Arena maps and etc
BUT GIVE US A FREE ONE FOR EVERYONE TO PLAY ON.

Example:
Game releases without dungeons
They charge you for dungeons
even though they haven't give out free dungeon for everyone to play on.

Wouldn't you be pissed ?

I think an arena for controlled pvp 1v1 - 4v4 should have been there from launch. Along with in faction duels. Basic features should be included from jump street.

I am ok with paying for DLC's but I think we should get one first free or at least a week free for testing to see if we want to buy it. I haven't read anything about this so I am uninformed. Is it a stand alone DLC? Or is it part of imperial? Maybe I misunderstood what the imperial DLC is.

If it's stand alone, a trial period should happen then buy. If part of other bigger DLC then no it should not be free first.

I'm not sure if you are calling Imperial City an arena, or if you are talking about future content. But either way, you should have to pay for significant new content if you aren't paying a subscription. This isn't a F2P game, it's B2P with an optional sub. Development of quality content costs money. If you aren't willing to contribute to the cost of new content, then you shouldn't be able to use it.

Nothing is free. Every game that claims to be free is either very low quality, or makes their money from blatant P2W elements in their cash shop.

That doesn't change anything at all. Do I think that there should have been an arena option from launch, yes 100%. But the fact of the matter is that there wasn't.

So since there wasn't one nor were they ever planing to implement one why should it be free? Just because not having one isn't a justifiable reason. This game desperately needs to make money in order for it to survive. Handing out freebies will result in a bloated cash shop with pointless crap and a further decline in population.

They are so against arenas though. I would absolutely pay for it if that is what it took. I have wanted arenas since day one and would probably only do just that.

You pay for DLCs. Period. These polls are stupid. How does every other game work that has expansion? You pay for them.

People who want 'free' or 'should have been included' should sit in a developers chair for the ungodly amount of hours they put in. Support the game, support the developers.

We are getting a DLC at the perfect time in the life of a MMO. You already had Crag soon after launch. Actually quite amazing amount of content so far.

Arenas suck anyways. Cyrodiil is perfect. The end.

Because all new content is free for subs and non-subs need to buy it outright. It's a choice.

It will likely be tested on the PTS at which time anyone can try it for free so no reason to qq about having to pay first.

I would like to point out that this example doesn't particularly work well in this situation since Zos ever intended and I believe they still don't intend to release arena style pvp.

If they promised arena style pvp and then decided to make people pay for it, much like IC, then I could understand your frustration. But asking for something for free just because you weren't given it to begin with is just silly.

If the game was advertised as having dungeons and then I began to play only to find out that you had to pay additionally for these dungeons, yeah, I'd be mad. But that's not what's happened here. I wouldn't buy an MMO if I knew there were no dungeons.

They've never advertised arenas, and the game has been out for 15 months. It's pretty well known knowledge that they aren't in this game. I got exactly what I paid for. If they decide to add it at a later point, sure, I don't mind paying for additional content.

Why do people expect them to develop content for free? You realize that game developers don't work for free right? You realize that every employee at ZOS gets paid right? Where do you propose that money come from?

If you are paying a subscription then you are already financially supporting development and you won't have to pay for future DLC. If you are NOT paying a subscription, then you will have to pay for new content. Unless there is a surplus of game developers willing to work for free, this will always be the case.

The alternative is a blatant P2W cash shop. Is that what you want?

ESO being an unfinished game is a whole other can of worms...but technically speaking Zos was never going to introduce arena styled pvp to the game. AT ALL.

So technically the lack of arena style pvp doesn't contribute to "ESO being unfinished"

I'm pretty sure we all get what your point is, at least I do, I can't speak for the others.

However, I don't think you fully understand what we are trying to communicate to you. Since Zos never intended to implement arena pvp that means the developers would have to spend resources, those resources being time and money, on creating and testing such a feature.

The game was released without such a feature on purpose, not so they can charge people later down the road for it. But because they didn't want it in their game. And now if they decided to release this style of pvp they have the right to charge for it.

So the smart business move would be to charge people access to an arena style pvp in a future zone and not give it away for free.

I don't mind paying for DLC if I can at least rate it like the apps on the mobile phone stores. So if I see that the DLC is getting mostly negative reviews or two stars or less then I won't buy it.

I been very critical of ZOS and even had a discussion closed because of it, but I'm tired of the whining on this issue. Like ZOS or not, the developers put a huge investment of time and money to create the DLC's and they should be compensated for their work. I wonder how many users would work a 40 hour job for free: not many. A month ago everyone was whining about no end content? And now their're complaining about not getting something for free?

So on this issue I'm okay with paying $20 for the DLC if it's content is a deceit quality. A large deceit quality pizza, a liter or two of soda or booze is going to cost about $20 anyway and you can only enjoy the pizza once!

The point is:

1 it's moot since there is nothing in the plans to bring this type of content into the game.

2. As alpha said, there is no reason to expect them to develops content for free. Most of us won't work for our jobs for free. Our banks require that silly mortgage payment.
