VR2 Templar needing some help/advice to get started in Cyrodiil :)

SmashingQuasar
Hey everybody,

So I tried Cyrodiil today but I think I lack a lot of information about it because all I did was getting instantly killed every time I tried to participate in fights. So this is not a post about whinning, I think I really don't know how to handle PvP in this game and would like to learn.

I'm currently VR2 in Daggerfall Covenant and have an average gear for my level (nothing too crazy to be honest, mostly green/blue items) and I feel like dealing no real damage with a 2H weapon, and getting instantly killed even with my sword and shield. Could anyone give me a few introduction of how this works please?

Thanks

    1. Grind to V14

    3. Grind min/maxed Gold gear

    Sorry that's how it is.

So is it impossible to do decent PvP before grinding to V14 with an incredible gear? That sounds like a terrible PvP system O_o'

Not sure if you're looking for build help or PvP help, unfortunately I can't help you out a whole lot with either, but I do know of two PvP guides that may be worth reading :)

I'm sorry for the double post but I'm now wondering if I should create a new character and level it to 10 in order to have fun in PvP? My guildmates seem to say VR PvP is absolutely hopeless and that I should either get VR14 with gold gear or simply start the game from scratch

Right now you are pretty weak in the low VR levels, the good news is that the Imperial City update will introduce battle leveling for VR1-10 characters. That is scheduled to drop at the end of August. Non Vet PVP is a lot of fun and people seem to be on a more equal footing, so you might try that until they add battle leveling for the low VR's. Do level to at least 15 though for the weapon swap before you go pvping.

Thanks for you answer, so you recommend I start over? I've almost 11 days of /played and starting over is very discouraging...
I also do not feel like the Imperial City is going to change anything D:

I don't think you should start over, but I certainly wouldn't run around by yourself. Using shields, and having them up at all times, is a great way to increase your survivability. It is tough being a low VR rank in Cyrodil right now, but it will get easier with the next patch. Until then, try to run with a group and avoid getting run over by the zerg train.

Also the next patch is lowering damage output so that should help with dieing quickly as well.

Agree on CP and 14 grind.
But gear he can utilize crafted sets.
Sure there is better gear but sometimes the time spent farming for those sets doesn't come close to having a friend craft or you craft the pieces you need for sustain or survivability.
