Okay. Let's have a theoretical here.

Imagine that the sub was still mandatory to play. How would that be any different to having a sub to access it now? If you lapsed your sub if it was mandatory, you wouldn't get to play it. Same applies here.

But now you can buy it with crowns that you get if you sub, crown packs if you don't. Either way you have to pay just as you would have had to pay if the sub was still mandatory.

This is a special case, and squarely puts Zenimax into the same corporate sludgepile as EA and SOE as of this announcement.

I think the sludge pile at EA and SOE/Daybreak is not as slimy as it used to be.

EA (SWTOR) is giving all their expansions including the newly announced KotFE to keep for one month's subscription cost ($14.99) starting October. If you cancel your sub you still keep everything but you don't gain any more future content. If you resub though you gain everything up until that point.

As for Daybreak Games, formerly known as Sony Online Entertainment(SOE), DC Universe Online (ESO console competition) will be releasing 1,2, 4 and 8 man end game content starting in August for $4 each month to own (not rent) and maintaining a monthly content release schedule. That's a f2p game delivering more stuff to do than this subscription->b2p game. IIRC off the top of my head they also released 24 pieces of progressive end game content last year along with 1 new class to make it 2 new classes within 14 months.

I'd say that ZOS is charging a bit much for this DLC but I think I'll check it out on PTS for free before I think about purchasing it or speaking out about it further. That could change of course. At this moment, it's most definitely a 'no' for me as there are other MMO titles out there that are better but I'm willing to give it a chance.

Granted, my opinion about ZOS and ESO are a bit cloudier than normal because they still can't fix a technical problem with the game I've had for a year now.

Celestrael if you had a reason to complain other then about the complainers I am sure you would do so. Console or pc doesn't matter people are people. They have had the new and shiny wear off and multitude of frustrations to deal with for a long period of time. It is understandable that they would complain. Do I think they could do so in a more constructively with less threats and offensive language? Certainly.

You baiting them does not help anything. Please stop.

I don't think anyone would dispute that PC players got a real raw deal. I beta tested the PC version late in the game and I knew that it wasn't going to be ready at launch. So i didn't purchase it and wrote it off, until I saw the changes that were made and a console version was announced. You guys got shafted, it's true. But Zenimax has had new life breathed into it and they've come a long way from their disastrous PC launch (but lesbehonest, every MMO launch is a catastrophe now because they are forced to launch prematurely by their corporate overlords). Get on board the positivity train or hop off at the next station and go do something else with your freetime that doesn't make you so miserable.

It just feels like they wait around for ZOS to post something so they can spring on it and spill their negative vitriol all over it to give people the impression the game is a colossal failure and no one should play it. It's self defeating behavior because if you run off potential players/subscribers you're taking money away from the content developer who you want to generate content for you. Thus you make the game worse, and the cycle continues on. Support the game you play, or don't play it and go away.

People will pay 30$ for a blue horse, but 25$ for actual content is an outrage

I personally wouldn't even pay $20 for a mount skin, so yeah, paying $25 for DLC that was promised to be delivered to us back when subscription was mandatory is a bit of a kick in the nuts.

I will wait and see if the new patch makes any difference to the game,

If I don't lag anymore in Cyrodill
    Don't get quests I can't finish without re-logging
I'm able to use my skills in combat
Able to mount my horse as a healer when combat finishes
    Latency stays constant
    GF starts working

Then I might start considering re-investing in this game, but currently I don't think I can reasonably expect this new DLC to be bug free and not introduce more, which like all the others are never fixed.

ZOS has failed in many ways, we still have a game that is still in early access, every update introduces sweeping changes to how everything works, because they are still trying to make the game work....

I agree @Celestrael . I am still positive about the game and am very excited about Imperial City and the upcoming changes.

But it would have been fair if Imperial City had come free. I totally understand that DLC's after IC have to payed for, but IC was promised a long time ago.

I was hoping that that was the reason they delayed the announcement and that they would suddenly come out and shout "Surprise, it's free!"

Now, the delay and the price tag (which is a fair one IMO) only added to the disgruntled feeling most players already had.

It's unfortunate, but I could see the raging storm on the forum from miles away when I saw that there was a price tag attached to it.

Supporting someone does not always mean that you agree with the decisions that they make. They are still here so obviously regardless of the comments they have and continue to support the game. I know some pc users could be more constructive. Sometimes though people being as they are get angry and feel the need to vent. Especially if they feel they are being ignored. This venting (ranting whichever you prefer) doesn't really help most of the time though. I think the theory on this is he who yells loudest gets heard. In my experience though this is not the case.

I am a pc user when b2p came into being I expected to have to pay for the new content in one fashion or other. One could question whether this is actually new as it was supposed to have been out for quite some time I suppose. Last year some time was when much of it was announced so one could argue that. My complaint if one wishes to call it that is more of the proposed cost of the new content rather then the fact that there is a cost involved.

The game in my opinion is not a failure. Could things be better in some areas? Sure they could. I certainly will agree with that. People should however take care with the way they go about trying to state their unhappiness. Do not expect people to blow happy smoke if they are not happy. However there is no need to be rude, crude or obnoxious to get ones point across.

Every new zone from B2P day onwards was always going to be paid for DLC. That's been pretty clear I think.
Except IC was ANNOUNCED last summer and was clearly stated by ZOS to be nearly ready for release IN SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER!

Ergo, everyone paying at the time has paid for this already.

It was pretty clear from the start of b2p that you will have to pay for DLCs. Its an essential part of the model.

You're wasting time trying to argue. There are too many people who feel bad that they paid for a bad product for so long. Now that it's better they feel they deserve something.
Actually, the game is NO DIFFERENT from what is was nine months ago in this context.

Frankly, PC players didn't get any content because the developers were too busy getting the console versions ready. That should be obvious. And you shouldn't be that mad because console is what saved this game from getting the lights turned out like many other PC MMO's. At the end of the day, it is what it is and making noise and badmouthing isn't going to change it. Buy the DLC, or don't. Subscribe, or don't.

I think we get really good value for this game as it currently is - in fact, the value is truly outstanding. I feel for the PC players who have waited this long for new content. I'll be getting the DLC the second it comes out as I think this is a brilliant game and I'm having a lot of fun playing it.

Well if they didn't put all their time and effort into the console versions, content on PC would've been released as promised and more resources and time would've gone and kept going towards PC version.

after one year paying for consol development
after one year following the carrot on the stick
after one year bad communication and promises
    after one year ......

there have to be really much content in IC after this long waiting and for that price!

PC paid one year sub and console not, for what we paid?

Everyone have to pay for even the console player will have to pay for it if the want it so what is problem.

If you still pay a sub you will get DLC for "free" mean it is cover in sub fee you are pay now.

Come on now the price is that bad serious it is 2500 crown and you can buy 3000 crown for 169 SEK or 17.12 EUR, 18.81 USD, 11.99 GBP this just a fast exchange from SEK to other currency beside "special" mount in this game cost alot more them DLC pack do.

How much have you invested in the game so far?
Once you hit $300.00 without getting anything to show for it, except the now base game, call me.

If you spend $300 watching movies in a cinema, what do you have to show for it afterwards?
Do you believe you are entitled to watch movies for free now that you 'invested' so much into it?

If the theater sells a season pass for $300.00 and promises a new movie every four weeks, cool, I'll pay for that.
Now, after a year, they still show the same movie. They say ones comes Soon™ though, and it's gonna be awesome.
Then they say, we are not selling any more season passes, and everyone gets in for one payment regular ticket price. OK, well, now that sucks. I already bought my ticket and a season pass. All that money was wasted. Anyway, I love this theater and the new movie is coming soon™.
The new movie gets here, after a year of watching the same thing everyday, and they want me to pay for it again?
Wtf? I don't get how that is even ethical. It has nothing to do with entitlement, it's business ethics and ZOS lack of.

I have no problem paying for dlc, but this shouldn't have been. It's already been paid for. Or do you think Craglorn is worth $280.00 by itself? I don't.

Yeah and how many free movie tickets (i.e. crowns) did you get when your season pass ran out? 'Nuff said.

Actually, I'm OK with it now. I just received a pm from a guild member. It said, " I see it as may be being half price of what dlc will be. If they charge that much for a single horse, dlc is going to be about $50.00 per piece."
