With people having complained for so long that there wasn't any new content, I suppose it was inevitable that once new content came along they'd complain about that too because they weren't getting it for nothing.

Regardless of opinions.... it's 2500 crowns or a monthly sub, & no amount of threads on here will change that now it's announced.

    No more...

    No less...

    Same for all.

    Pay it & play or don't & don't.

Personally it looks pretty damn good to me.... and looks like there's a lot in both the base patch & the DLC to be getting on with which was my only real concern, that it was going to be too small... looks like that won't be an issue thankfully :)

Forced PvP already exists. How can you not see this? If you're a stam based DPS who enjoys PvE and you're NOT using Ravagers or Caltrops, you're doing it wrong. Forced PvP has always existed in this game. This is no different.

It was never going to be free, nor should it with this model. It's B2P or bust. At least it costs less than the blue horse (which is both reassuring and completely sad at the same time).

I spent my conversion crowns on guar. I have no regrets.

With all the talk about the "Imperial City patch" in the dev tracker over the past month, I had hoped they would do the right thing and finally finish that big unfinished Cyrodiil zone with the big hole in the middle by giving the long-missing city to everyone. But no, why give us the rest of a finished zone we already paid for when they can sell us the missing piece?

At least the price is reasonable. I haven't decided yet whether I want to buy it. But it is priced for the masses. People complaining about it being priced lower than a mount should remember those special mounts are priced high to be rare for the special snowflakes. ZOS needs to price DLC lower so as many people as possible will buy it.

The credit I received for subscribing more than covers the cost of the DLC.

I never bought any frosty horses (which btw cost more than the DLC) or mounts with my crowns.

What are you trying to say with this binding contract talk?

Under a subscription model, there is no contractual agreement that they will provide you new content. The only thing they promise you is that you'll be allowed to play the game if you pay.

Under a B2P model, you only pay for new content. They are promising you that when you pay for the content, you get new content.

In B2P they are entering a binding contract with you to provide you with new content (when you pay for the content). This doesn't exist under subscription. Subscription models are entirely faith-based that the company will take care of you for your loyalty, rather than you getting hard evidence that you will get new content through monetary means.

It's entirely backwards. I'd much rather have the option to pay $20 for new content every 6 months than be forced to pay $15 every month with the hope that there will be new content coming.

Although I've only been a member since March 2015, I can understand the OP's concern. It would have been cool for ZOS to acknowledge all the loyal PC players that have been playing and subscribed since beta (but which stopped paying the subscription in March after the TU update) by giving them this Imperial City DLC for free. Basically just a way of ZOS saying "Thanks for sticking with us through all the weather, both sunshine and choppy seas."

I've only been a member since ESO dropped the subscription back in March, so I personally don't mind paying for this Imperial City DLC. But I do think that ZOS could extend some more love to it's loyal ESO players that have been with the game since the beginning.

They already gave them as much as 2500 crowns iirc, enough to get the DLC. ZOS has given mounts, pets, and crowns to those who played in subscription for their "loyalty" (subscription failed, their loyalty means nothing imo). They will always beg for more stuff for free.

Not just a cynic. It seemed pretty obvious once it was delayed into 2015 that they wouldn't release it until they could charge for it - hence why few actually expected it to be free.

I am surprised that the Imperial City is something you have to pay for, but I am also surprised at how much new content is in it. I personally think it warrants this price and honestly, having to pay for this expansion to the universe is entirely optional, if you can't afford it / don't want to that is up to you. This is in my mind a better way to make money to fund the game rather than going F2P and P2Win with Overpowered store bought items. I think in the long run this is a good thing, now they just need to get back on track and update the game regularly. Nine months without proper content is waaay too long.

Except...definitions of loyal are different. To me, a loyal person is a person who regularly pays for the content their receiving. I wouldn't call a guy who browses my store and chats me up a "loyal customer" I'd call him a regular who likes to look around. Now, if he was constantly buying things from me on a monthly basis...then I'd call him a loyal customer.

So, as far as I know, ZoS may hold the same opinion of those non-subscribers who also never buy Crowns (I'm excluding the guy who may buy crowns every month or so).

While the game was still B2P they announced a lot of things, including Imperial City, Spellcrafting, VR Rank Removal, etc. to keep people from un-subbing.
It's impossible that a company doesn't know roughly how much it will take to develop something and yet they kept giving unclear information and making announcements with no real informations about the time.
Innocent people like me kept giving them money to see those things implemented in the game.
Now you have to pay money like everyone else to get those things. It's not unfair technically.
