A Crazy Idea That Would Make ESO Feel Like a Real TES Game!

Yeah, having the rest of Tamriel opened up would be good, however the amount of work that will have to be put into it would mean those areas would probably be DLC. I don't have a problem with that though, as long as it means more gameplay.

Uh, no. That makes even less sense than the current Cadwell model.

I'd rather they removed Cadwells alltogether and scaled the content in your home province like the upcoming DLC and Cyrodiil, so you can go anywhere whenever you want.

Then we appeased the sologamers and can finally turn this game into an MMO.

What keeps this from feeling like a more traditional Elder Scrolls is the combat mechanics and style. Not to mention this is non-canon full of broken lore. Lets face it while ESO is a good game the last thing ES need was an MMO.

    Sorry you feel this way.

Personally, I am enjoying every second of ESO about 300 hours in. And yes I am a regular Elder Scrolls fan too.

when they eventually finish the zones the border ones between factions like blackwood should come together and have open world pvp

A crazy idea that would make ESO feel like Skyrim

Fixed your thread title for you. That is, after all, what you want. ESO is not, and was not meant to be, Skyrim 2, Skyrim Online, or Skyrim With Friends.

They should have made more of an effort to make it like Skyrim though... because ESO is an average game, while Skyrim is one of the greatest games ever made.

For however long I play this game I will maintain that this game could have been bigger and better than any MMOs on the market had it not tried to appease the solo game fans along the way.

An MMO with TES flavoring the story/background would have sold well enough. I loved Morrowind and Oblivion, Skyrim was meh...but after all the cries to make this game more Skyrim...by the Eight I despise that game. I truly, truly do at this point.

Bethesda should have just put out a multiplayer version, updated the graphics and been done with it....and let ESO truly be a MMORPG

ALL of the actual unique thigs about ESO as an MMO are direct ports of mechanics in previous ES games....

EVERYTHING that is wrong with this game.... is the typical MMO design...

From your stand point. I've listened to and watched players walk away because this isn't MMO enough. There isn't enough updates, group raids, gear gains that aren't RNG junk, social aspects like holidays and celebrations, etc, etc, etc

That is the problem. The game tries to do both and fails on both ends keeping community at odds with no clear vision. Those of us that stay until something better comes along never really invest in it the way we would otherwise

And that is your point of view. I like it how it is both and nothing too much. Just a matter of what you want. There are allways people who, don't like this and that and will leave. The hoppers at the start, the hardcore raiders who find everything to easy after 1 month. The PVP'lers where it is too less content, or to imbalanced or the...

If the game specialize at one of the groups, it will be niche and have a very hard stand on the marked by default (-->Wildstar). They game will not be financial successful and change really quickly.
If they try to adress everybody, ther is allways not enough, or not good enough of some side.
Just learn to deal with it...

What makes TES an Elder Scrolls Game? For me it's the exploration, unrestricted access to the world, and the freedom to choose your own path. Right now, ESO feels really restrictive and on rails. While I don't mind the 1 to 50 leveling experience I think ZOS can do better.

So what's the CRAZY idea? Open up the ENTIRE world of Tamriel for exploration.

    elder_scrolls_online__map_of_tamriel_by_okiir-d6flnk8.png

No restrictions. Remove the veteran ranks, the silver and gold quests and increase the level cap up to 100. Every other part of Tamriel that we do not have access to right now should be accessed by ALL factions. Id really like to see some world PvP action, obviously, this should be optional for those that don't want to be a part of it. The 1 to 50 zones would remain untouched, and could be a extended tutorial (aka starting zones).

Crazy idea, probably wont see the light of day but I can only hope. :)

Your idea not crazy just not detailed at all. Your basically saying make it like TES which is fine, but to accomplish that would mean all mobs scale to your lv like in TES, and to accomplish that you would basically need the world to be a instance for each person.

I will have to disagree with you on that, the statment that "an MMO with TES flavoring the story/background would sold well enough." would have read and played like a shameless cash grab and hurt the reputation of the entire franchise. I will agree they've made some serious mistakes through the development of this game but I've always felt that came from a place of first time studio finding its feet. I don't think it would have faired well at all if they just slapped an ES skin on a normal MMO.

As for the OP, I do wish there was more to explore in the zones we've already been given, as they stand now they are largely empty space that funnels you from one point to the next but i'm not sure that a huge open world would have served the game as well as we might think. I do miss finding the cool nooks and crannies and being rewarded for exploring by finding special weapons or armor or something else of note. I also think they actually missed a trick with the vet zones, rather it would have been really cool to visit the other factions and experience quests that are different and reflect the world as it is after the completion of the main quest. You could have kept it cadwells silver and gold, but you're instead seeing a version of that zone where you character didn't go through those areas stopping whatever issues arose, so you can see what might have happened instead. With a new cadwells tier where you then return to a new version of your home faction that reflects what you have done and allows you to see some payoff for the story you already went through. This new faction zone would actually be worth using your capital city and would be a place to strive for. The quests in this game are largely very entertaining, but they are diminished by being overly repeated (if you want to have multiple characters on multiple factions) and not having any weight to them after the fact (you never really get to see what happens with your alliance, everything just stays largely the same as it was before you ever got there).
"It is a time of strife and unrest. Armies of revenants and dark spirits manifest in every corner of Tamriel. Winters grow colder and crops fail. Mystics are plagued by nightmares and portents of doom."

I'm ok with world-wide PvP, so long as it's toggled off by default and ganking isn't possible, with one exception:

    - Justice system: Would like bounty hunters to be able to challenge criminals (countdown timer until attack allowed, unless criminal chooses to pay off bounty)

Also like the idea of just removing levels altogether. Convert everything to CP, and so you wouldn't be able to tell if the cat you were attempting to gank was powerful or not.

Uhm no. And I have to laugh that people actually think this game is on rails. You haven't played a game on rails yet apparently because you can't appreciate what it's like.

Also, if you want to experience what you're proposing go play Archeage and find out exactly why it's a terrible design riddled with flaws to have all PVP all the time even within the same faction.

My biggest beef with Oblivion was that, as you leveled, the scaled levels of the mobs just inflated their HP to ridiculous proportions to the point where you'd spend 5 minutes hacking on a single trash mob.

Yes, you're very right. I think anyone who has played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim would agree the latter is the most lacking. Don't get me wrong, I love Skyrim - but the others just felt so much more real and made you truly care about the state of affairs inside the game more than Skyrim. However, I think Skyrim was a good game in getting new people hooked on the franchise.
