There probably aren't many colors left that aren't already part of the dye system. Even if they did add some to the crown store that are different, the difference would hardly be noticeable. Who's going to notice anyway. I'm pretty sure I've never seen a player walking by and thought to myself, hey I think that guy is wearing Cold Harbour Ash Black, sure wish I had that dye...

That has happened to me, actually. Though, it's not Cold Harbour Ash Black... I still don't know what the dye I saw was.

I made my opinion on dyes clear in the other thread/poll. The color of armor I'm just going to outlevel doesn't really bother me much. I like the choice of being able to change my color if thats what I want to do. It just doesn't ever really occur to me to do so. Maybe at higher levels you may change gear less. Then maybe it'd be a different story.

As far as color goes , I kinda feel it is fine being achievement based. Reminds me of the sense of accomplishment when I'd earned the warlock and paladin mounts in WoW before they just made it suck. You really had to earn those! If it is that big a deal for some , no harm making it crown store if thats how you want to get them unlocked I guess. Run your flag up the pole and see who salutes it imo. Just not for me.

Honestly , I'd like some sort of transmog feature. I've had some cool looking gear peices I hated to part with for lesser appealing looking gear. Some of it just gets dowright fugly but once in awhile , you can come across some really awesome looking gear.

The whole dye thing is about having a feeling of superiority against other players. If it was solely about personal accomplishment then you would still feel accomplished after the feat was achieved, regardless of whether or not there was a reward attached.

Getting emperor, when not swapping and not transferring to console in order to take advantage, is a pretty big achievement. Whether or not a dye came with it shouldn't affect any feeling of accomplishment.

Voted no. Dyes should remain as unlockable through achievements. Personally there are achievements I would not go for if it wasn't for the dyes and titles that come as a reward. Instead maybe they should add new achievements with new dyes/titles as reward.

All of the colors I want are PvP achievements...and I really hate PvP in this game. If they had the same colors for the more difficult PvE achievements I MIGHT be okay with that but I still think dyes should never have been used this way in the first place.

And you're entitled to that opinion. Regrettably for you however is the fact that the vast majority of players do not share it. What PvP only dye do you wish to achieve? I'm sure there is a similar dye for your somewhere in the spectrum.

Legate's Black and, of course, the Emperor's red. Nope, never going to see either one of them.

The should introduce some PvP specific mounts to replace them. An armored horse with a faction banner for legate, and another armored horse with the red diamond for Emperor. That would free the dyes up for crown store.

But they are both very close to existing colors. Cold Harbor Ash Black(finish main quest line) is virtually indistinguishable from Legates Black, and Ruby Throne (Emperor's) Red is darn close to Pact Blood Red which you get for finishing the majority of EP quests. If you are in EP you could get both of these colors before you even hit VR1.

I have to disagree. If achievements did not garner specific rewards there would be no point to the achievement for the majority of players. Even the smallest achievements provide a reward: a quest provides an item or money, beating a bot to a chest provides the contents of the chest. If rewards weren't gated behind an action then we might as well all have developer tools to spawn any item and teleport to any location. This feels like taking the "game" out of the game.

Strangely, I do NOT equate sitting in a chair pushing buttons for fun to actually be any work at all. MMOs are more like interactive movies. Super fun, but NOT any kind of real work. So to be so unduly proud of "accomplishments" gotten in a computer game that you'd gladly keep them from anyone else is just baffling to me. When I did well in a tournament I had the bruises to prove it. LOL Ditto racing horses and dirtbikes. Playing games in my comfy chair now that I'm middle aged and my body no longer takes those pursuits so lightly I see for exactly what it is...goofing off. ;) I don't think I deserve a trophy for it.

While it's fun, it's a challenge. Since you enjoy it so much, just go and do it. What alliance is your main character in? All you need to do is finish the main quest line to get Cold Harbor Ash Black. If you have any inclination of leveling up a character to V14, regardless of your alliance you will get Pact Blood Red as well. Since it's fun, and those are (similar to) the colors you want, just do it, and enjoy the process. You aren't going to get ZOS to change things, or convince other's to see your point of view, so you might as well just have fun accomplishing your goals.

I'm more for not putting it in the crown store. My reason is that it just gives some people something, however minor like dyes, to strive for. That PvP Legate Black dye? Go PvP to get it (I am a PvE most times, so it's something to achieve for once I finish all PvE content).

But then again, just my opinion. Good idea though.

A guy in a thread of mine regarding dyes did the math. and if you earn 89k AP a day it will take you a year to earn the Legate Black....playing PvP every day...kinda like a wife that won't divorce you. (lol)

I am against selling the dyes in the store, by the way.

Okay, I HAD to choose the sweetrolls...

I would purchase some dyes via crown store but only for the right price. I would pay $2 (not sure how much in crowns that would be) for a dye that I absolutely must have. The colors can be other colors that aren't offered through the game.

No to all of those. My option would be that the achievements that are just about time or luck be available from the cash shop, but the dyes that require skill in PvP/Trials/etc., not be available in cash shop. Nothing in the cash shop currently bypasses skill. You can only bypass time. There is no skill involved in training your mount or finding a rare motif or fishing for a perfect roe to make an XP drink. So selling them for cash is fine. But there is skill involved in some of the achievements that unlock dyes. Selling them for cash would be no different than selling the "Boethiah's Scythe" title for cash or selling PvP titles like "Praetorian" for cash. Those are purely cosmetic. You don't get extra stats or power just from having those titles under your name. But there was skill involved in getting them and that should not be for sale.

Maybe dyes should not have been tied to the achievement system. But as long as they are, the difficult achievements should not have their dyes sold for cash.

I don't recall mine off the top of my head but it is a newer one and my graphics are awesome on high settings on my 29 inch monitor. Slight color blindness is common in men however. ;)
    :(
Well I'll grant you that my color perception isn't the best ... got me there.

Why would anyone feel superior to another over the color of their gear? Really?

    Wow. lol

Must be something else I just don't get I guess.

It's not a matter of feeling superior. It's a game. Put in your time and you will get there. It's just a way to say to the rest of the community that you are an experienced player. Due to my armor, many players will often ask me for advice, or help. It's nice to be shown respect. I don't look down on others who haven't played as much, but it's nice to be instantly recognized for the experience you have.

But you are talking about me "putting in time" in the one aspect of the game I really don't like. And the hours involved in getting the 2 colors I'm mostly talking about here...unreal. No way will I play ANY game that long, let alone playing the part of it I actively dislike! LOL

I just wish we had a way to trade dyed gear. That is the big one for me. I RP and lead an RP guild that has a uniform. You know how limiting the dye system makes that? It is absurd. It is bad enough that to make sure everyone looks the same we have to use level one gear for the armor, but we also have to use sub-par colors to make sure everyone has them unlocked or we can easily get them for people.

Well that sucks for you, but you don't get any sympathy from me. I will probably stop playing the game if they start adding colors to the crown store, it would tick me off that much.

The epeen is strong in this one, eh? ;) Seriously, if people didn't know to treat you specially because of the color of your armor you'd miss that approbation so much you'd rage quit? You seem like a pretty smart guy...surely you have some real achievements in your life to feel good about? What would make you "need" this so badly that you'd deprive yourself of what I assume must be an enjoyable activity for you if you weren't recognized instantly for the time you've put into it? I'm not trying to troll you man, I'm genuinely curious about this mindset I see so often in the PvP community.

Ah yes, I run an RP guild as well and our colors are Black and White. Good thing we're a vampire guild, eh? LOL
