I understand where you're coming from - but I enjoy my speed boosts and will often cast it in a town to get to the bank faster. Im sorry if it affects you negatively.

Answers like these make me sad.

Well, tonight I had someone troll me with that move while thieving in Wayrest castle. They tried to time it so that the guard was still close, in fact it was obvious they had waited in the area to do just that to me. They sped off right after the cast. So yeah, let's get rid of it affecting others either out of group or in towns altogether. That's a decent bit of fun, I suppose, but I have already been caught thieving inside the castle once and know you can't escape. I handled it just fine, but if it isn't a pvp area, they shouldn't be able to affect you like that.

This sort of thing is actually against the ToS, not that I expect that ZOS would do anything about it unless the person were truly obnoxious about using Rapid Maneuvers.
Engage in disruptive behavior in chat areas, game areas, forums, or any other area or aspect of the Services. Examples of disruptive behavior include, but is not limited to, conduct which interferes with the normal flow of gameplay

I realize that some people are just going to do it, and everyone else will have to live with them. Like the uncle that never bathes. Still, one can hope that ZOS can find a solution that will allow people to get the speed benefit from the spell without the need to share it with everyone within 20 meters.

Yes, the skill is obtained in PvP, you can unlock it after you go through the tutorial in Cyrodiil (Anyone can get that at level 10).

But as stated above, many of the PvP only skills can be very useful in PvE ...

If they designed the game correctly from the beginning, this wouldn't be an issue. Just like in the wild wild west guns had to be checked in at the sheriff's office, well in the magical world of Nirm, all magic casting and weapons would be disabled when entering the major towns.

This rule wouldn't affect quests so if the quest put you in a combat situation, so you could use your magic and weapons. This same rule would apply to the justice system where you can only use your magic or weapon on an innocent bystander if you bracket them first.

The only way I could see this working is if they designated a single town in each faction where all spells were unusable or a crime with bounty.

Personally rapid doesn't bother me but I get not wanting other peoples spells to effect you in town. I was very glad when the justice system released and I could do my banking w/o being blinded.

Sorry, I meant it isn't active only in Cyrodiil - it can be used anywhere. But it is a skill from alliance war lines.

All I asked for was something I would have to use in order to play a game the way I would like to play it. As it is currently, I am forced into having this speed buff applied because it affects an area rather than just the caster. I'm used to being able to mod things into a game that I want, but in this case, I can't. No one can.

I *know* there are 'more important' things. Importance is relative. This is important to ME. I'm not even demanding anything, I'm asking - nicely, I might add. I'm not some entitled brat who feels I have to have it my own way. This was a REQUEST. Nothing more.

Hell, make it a scroll that adds a toggle and sell it in the crown store. Make some money from it.

Ignoring the obviously angry and hypocritical people in this thread, your only real options are to switch from running to walking (toggled keybind in PC, not sure about console) as mentioned above, or switching to a permanent walking speed setting and using sprint to go those short distances between A and B at the use of your stamina.

I wish this was the end of it, but I'm sure there'll be more people posting below their angry rants at how you're entitled and there's more important issues etc.

if yo are on console slightly push the thumbstick forward or back, left and right. problem sovled!

That's your problem. I happen to love when that happens.

So you'd begrudge her for asking for a solution so it isn't a problem? You don't always HAVE to give your opinion, you know.

As I stated above, someone used it against me to try to affect gameplay...in a way that would not benefit them at all. It was only to mess with me, in an area where my game experience is supposed to be mine alone. If the devs decide it is priority number 596, fine. As long as they know some people would like some way to turn it off.

Whoever posted about cities being areas where you don't have your weapons and don't cast magic, I really like that. I wouldn't even mind if there were some quests in town that you had to handle with your fists alone.

FACT is.. the speed boost does not make you that much faster. So here's a real hint.. just walk slower if you want to go SLOW. I was even laughing about this last night when i got speed boosted by another players, its NOT even that fast.

PROBLEM SOLVED /end topic. /end complaining..

As you stated, it's not a problem FOR YOU.
As other stated, for various reasons, it is a problem FOR THEM.

Walking slower is not a solution at all,.

I keep wondering why everyone has to run through town as if they were late for a date. It's not as if the towns were really huge. I wish there was a toggle to just prevent anyone from affecting me in any way in towns. No buffs, no suddenly being in combat mode, no nothing! It's bad enough when people ride their horses through me or fly their twilights into me but really, if that is not preventable because they "aren't really there" then why can they trigger my combat bar because they decided to practice their abilities on me?

As for running, I guess i sometimes bring the attacks on myself because I often just walk through town looking like the locals. How dare I dress and act like an NPC.

I really, REALLY hate that AoE speed buff that people cast in towns so that they can zip about. OK, they want to zip around, but I don't. I like to bumble along at my own speed, then along comes someone casting the buff, whooosh, I end up with face meeting wall because I've suddenly gone from 'bumbling' to high speed! I like my own speed as my hands are partially disabled and I can't always react quickly enough to stop the 'wall in face' scenario!

What I am asking for here, is not to take away the ability for people to cast this in towns, but for something *I* can use, either a toggleable ward I can switch on for bumbling through towns, or a dispel, or something. Anything that would stop this being applied to my character. What is the great flaming hurry, anyway?

Just please let me have my slow speed just as they have their zipping about. Let us have the choice for it to be applied or not. As we ALL want, not just those casting the thing.

nothing wrong with my hands, but I do it on my max speed horse all the time. In PVP it's worse, I'm in a hurry to run up the wooden stairs in a keep, don't turn quick enough and I'm at the bottom again.
I have double take on my NB, I need a wide open space when i use it, even then I come to a complete stop when I encounter that tiny pebble I can't just step over :)

And the speed boost is not that fast. Hence.. just slow down... if you really need to go that slow.

Sorry... didn't mean to use my brain here. But does it make you mad that i don't see the problem here .. or that i can easily deal with it? Since its not that much of a speed boost.

I definitely get where you're coming from, but there's so much else they could spend the man hours on than adding a toggle for people who like to walk/run slower. It's kind of a '1st Nirn problem'

Absolutely not attacking you personally, but I'm getting a little tired of "but there are more important things for the devs to work on" being used as a stock answer and sometimes an attempt to shut down discussion, every time someone asks for little convenience features/tweaks.

I completely disagree. It seems that 90% of the posts on this forum are about requests for things to be changed in the game. This request would absolutely involve a lot more resources than you'd think, and the intricate "if (this or that or these) and those or blah" conditional blocks of code are exactly how you create very bad, unmaintainable "spaghetti" code that inevitably has a ton of bugs.

People who dislike a fast movement speed are very much in the minority, and this can't even be an issue on consoles. If I didn't want to move fast I'd just pull back on the analog stick. I guess you're SOL if you can only go 0 or 100% speed, but it sounds like you can toggle to walk on the PC anyway, so...

I hope it's ok when I bring up your thread again, @AlienSlof :)
But this issue still bugs me so extremely that I cannot just take is as it is.

My suggestion (for ZOS) would be to make Rapid Maneuver ONLY available in Cyrodiil, so everyone else can play in peace, really!

Let's just take Craglorn/Belkarth, it's the worst I've seen so far what concerns this issue. And Pact players are even worse than the Covenant (I don't know about AD players) which keep spamming this skill everywhere and constantly, even when they're just standing at the wayshrine and don't even move!

Another option would be that in PvE, it would affect ONLY the player who uses that skill, not anyone else.
Really, something has to be done about this.

Why does everyone buy a game these days and try to change it to how they like to play instead of just adapting to how it was meant to be played?

If the developers tried to keep everyone happy in this game, it would probably take forever to write the code.

Because these days, game developers release games that they know are woefully broken, intending to just patch things later on. This model has bred a laziness among game developers in all genres. Back in the time before patches and updates, you had to make your game good and right the first time, because the first time was all you got.

There is an acceptable amount of broken now in the game industry, and a lot of us are sick of it. A number of these "works as designed" things that are thrown in our faces would never have passed muster back when quality assurance was actually important.
