Account Transfers

I want to know peoples' opinions on the way the PC transfers were done. I feel like it shouldn't have been a limited time exclusive offer, redeemable only through email.

I think it should be a feature of the game, not only for PC, but for console gamers if they want to switch to PC as well. Or even console to console (PS4 to XB1 for example).

They would still have it as a $20 charge, that seems like the only reasonable part of it.

And don't have it be only available to certain players, make it available to everyone. Especially since you're already charging for it.

The reason I'm talking about this is because I played ESO when it first came out for about 6 months before I tucked it away waiting for console release. I'm a console gamer and I always will be, it's just how I game. Now I wasn't in the loop during the 30 day period where I could've transferred my account with the email that I would've hopefully not deleted (but I did 'cause I was out of the loop). Now I have ESO for XB1 and no reason to play it, as I was expecting to be able to transfer my account.

Use the search function like everyone else.

I'm just curious as to why you thought you'd be able to transfer your account from PC to console? If you were 'out of the loop', then you shouldn't have even been expecting anything like this. This isn't the developers fault, this is yours for making assumptions. The overwhelming majority of MMOs do not allow cross platform account transfers, ESO did it before console launch because apparently that was the only way they could do it, and it wasn't a transfer, it was an account copy.

Because they even did this, they are receiving all sorts of hate from console players talking about how unfair it is that they start a new game that already has VR level players with hundreds of Champion points. With all of that negativity, let alone the possible technical issues, I don't foresee ESO allowing any type of account copy or transfers in the future.

A lot of people were aware it would be offered because when the game was about to be released on PC and it became apparent the console versions would be significantly delayed ZOS promised there would be a way to transfer your account from PC to the console of your choice.

The 30 day restriction only came up when they actually came to offer the transfers.

I love ESO. I bought the imperial edition and had played since day one. Even with all the issues at launch, I still enjoyed the game. It has some problems sure and no game is perfect. I'm not making any excuses for them, I mean of course there are things I would like to see changed, but I still love the Elder Scrolls.

Yes, people missed the cutoff date and that sucks. I'm one of them. The fact that it had been a limited time offer before the consoles release made me wonder why is was though. I would think that a lot of people would have liked to have seen how it played on the consoles before making a decision to buy it.

There are plenty of people with friends on consoles that don't have pc's that were going to get it. I know I never asked any of my console friends if they were going to get it and I didn't know any of them even liked the Elder Scrolls. Now I'm starting over and leveling with them. I would never have bothered me to start a new character to level with them. That's the fun of playing with your friends. It's all the other stuff on my account that I wish I had. My mounts, costumes, pets. All those loyalty rewards.

I can understand why people who got the console version hated the transfers and, honestly, its just pvp that it really would matter at all with Vet14 players having their min/maxed gear. But for pve? Sure it would make dungeon runs and other content easier, but could you really fault them for just wanting to play with their friends and show off their cool characters? Or wanting to play the game as soon as they could by buying it on pc?

I'm not saying I deserve to get a transfer. They don't have to ever do it again if they don't want to. Honestly, no "apologies for any inconvenience" will ever do anything for me, but I do understand what it took for them to do it in the first place. I just ask that they seriously consider doing it again. I would hope in a couple months that I would be able to transfer and that's all I can do right now. Hope that they are listening to those of us asking for a second chance at this.

Except I had to jump through hoops just to be able to have a forum account, and this was the first thing I did when I finally got the account. Quite frankly I didn't know you could search threads, I thought you had to go through the different groups.

This is exactly what happened. It's not like I'm shaming Zenimax for doing this weird 30 day only offer, I just don't see the benefit to doing it that way. If they did it again they'd be gaining at least one (me) loyal player on the console for years to come. Until then it'll just sit in it's package with no better use than a paper weight.
