3000cr for a mount - is this reasonable?

  • Equilibriator
If it is truly limited, then yes, because the few people willing to pay for it will likely enjoy it for a long time and get their moneys worth in having their unique thing that no one else has that they can theme their character around, etc. In essence they get to enjoy having something others don't which is a big thing to some people.

If it just circles round then is back on sale again in a few months/year or something then no, it is not a fair price at all because its monetary value to me is almost entirely attached to the fact it is limited..

I voted YES, because The Frost mare mount is on the edge of being sort of Immersion breaking. I find it very cool, and well done, but in all honnesty, it clash a bit with everything else (same with the Fire Horse).
As the Frost Mare is a bit "clashy" - "immersion breaking" - "too WhiteWalkerish" I think the price and the fact it's a limited edition compensate this.
We wil not have thousand of thousand players buying it and using it.

Damn right. And if some people want to waste their money in ugly mounts, I don't care, as long as this money is used to make real content.

I don't mind anything in the crown shop and it think the items on there are pretty cheap remember this game is free monthly u don't have to pay after buying it everything else that cost money on here is an option it doesn't help u in any way to become better tHan another player I played a lot of free mmos and I seen a lot worse prices on silly items, people who usually complain about how much stuff cost in a game is usually younger teens or young adults without a job, I don't get paided much just enough to get by as a young adult but I can still afford eso plus and psn+ while paying off my bills and having some extra cash for some grass and savings, so what I'm basically trying to say is the only people who has problems with this are those who need to play less and work more and just stop complaining cus no one is putting a gun to your head to buy anything from the crown store and I hope they keep updating it and bring out new mounts and cosmetics cus the more money they make the more content I'll be seeing in this game and I plan to keep my eso plus member ship and save up the crowns I get from that and buy items I like with it I have no complains and I'm happy as ever playing this game and I would support the devs in anyway I can to make this game better

    Accidently voted yes, meant no.

Would never pay the equivalent of a whole new game (or more, steam sale) for a cosmetic ingame item.

My opinion is in line with some others. It is limited, and at least to me, very immersion breaking, so the high price is justified. However may I add that it must have went over well even at that price, I'm seeing this thing everywhere in major cities! To each his own though. I just want some really bada** looking nord themed costumes at a decent price. Can I get a mug of mead raised to that?

im sorry, but hell no, its just a horse, i dont even wana believe the cost just to make the damn thing equaled to $30, unless the horse can transform,is made of diamonds, craps hamburgers, deals over 2000 damage to foes, and can fly you to places, i dont see just a plain horse remotely being worth that much, not only that, but its like they really only care about the money and will do anything to get it. i couldnt help but laugh at this one. well done devs. well done

The walking on water is actually a good idea, also an idea that won't completely tick off the people against flying. Also, it kinda makes sense that an ice mount could freeze the water as it runs, making it able to run on water.

The sooner people realize it's just a little more graphically pleasing than a regular mount bought for gold the better. If the mounts bought from the crown store could somehow help or give perks that the regular gold bought mount couldn't offer, I'd be more inclined to have voted yes.

As things stand, crown bought mounts only feed a persons vanity.

On the other hand, when somebody pays out for something, they are setting the value themselves. You wouldn't have bought it in the first place unless you were willing to meet the value.

The values won't be changed, unless Zenimax want an uprising of people wanting the difference paid back when bought at full price.

The price people are willing to pay is always reasonable.

And what do I care. I'm happy there are people out there that are stupid (my personal opinion) enough to pay 25$ for a virtual mount. The money goes to the development (I hope) of a game I enjoy.

You can buy mounts ingame for gold. If you want to spend your RT money for a mount that is fine as well. As for the prices that are charged in the CT remember ZOS is actually in this business to make a profit,

Is it reasonable? Depends on how much you like My Pretty Pony. If you're secretly a Brony then the Twilight Sparkle model in the shop is there for you.

The thing is, they are going to keep putting silly "shinies" like that in the shop in hopes of draining your stock of crowns (especially those of us who sub and therefore get an allotment of them each month) so that you'll be forced to pony up (see what I did thar?) real money when they finally get around to releasing items players actually want and have asked for. They don't WANT you to have any crowns saved up when they finally roll out the big ticket items. They sure don't want people to have saved up a bunch of crowns so they can then drop their subs and pick up the DLC for "free." Figure it out folks.

In the meantime, enjoy your 3,000 crown Twilight Sparkle pony. Next month maybe we'll get Seawinkle.

Honestly who cares. It is optional and only cosmetic. If you dont like it (price or looks) then dont buy it. If it sells then great if not they will lower the price later on for the next limited edition thing. Moaning over something that has no impact ingame and is optional to me just makes you look bad as either a cheap person who doesnt buy crowns or very little, or a person who just likes creating waves for the drama.

Or maybe I am just an old fuddy-duddy who sees things differently.
If you think the problem is everyone else you may want to rethink the issue.

People playing a game for free that believe they have some form of veto on what that company charges for vanity items in their online store which keeps the lights on.

Grow up, the prices are govenered my market forces, and not by kids who "want but cant afford"

You need a third option: "It doesn't matter because I will never spend actual money on a mount (or pretty much anything else in the Crown Store)."

Do you pay the subscription? If not then I have no interest in your opionion whatsoever

It is reasonable for those why buy them and not reasonable for those who don't. Personally I wont pay 3000 for a mount.

There are two schools of cash stores for online games. One school say that thing generally should be so cheap that everyone will spend a little all the time and don't think much about it. The other school say make things extremely expensive so only a few bother to spend money but those few still generate a decent revenue because they spend so much money.

Over time it has shown that the first method generate far more revenue than the second one (just as perfect world international or wargaming inc) so it is sad that the suits behind zenimax online force them into the second less profitable system.

Of course it's not reasonable, but then its what do you spend the crowns on ... I got my Nightblade stuck where I couldn't orgress, I followed guides I respected using gold till I ran out, I was so frustrated I was about to leave, I sunk £40 into crowns respecing and building n testing my own builds eventually I found one and I just ran away loving the game more,

For me the money was worth it cos it saved me me from ditchinv this game and I'm glad it did

So its all about perceived value, also if you subscribe to ESO plus you get crowns each month.

So it works out cheaper with the add ons that come with it.

Would I buy just a horse at those prices ... Hell no it's s con, would I buy one with left over crowns from my ESO plus and my respecing frenzie ... Yes ... N I did.

Heh, that's great. Your earlier argument on market forces has some legitimacy, at the end of the day if people will pay it then they're entitled to charge it, but then you had to ruin the ride by writing off the opinions of anyone who doesn't consider cosmetics worth $15 a month. But hey, that's just your "opionion".

Value is an opinion, if you really want it then yes, the price is acceptable , I did not buy one not because of the price, just did not really feel the vibe to buy this one, but who knows maybe the next one will hook me and if I want it I will buy it, most things in life are not free or even cheap. /shrug

At least in CAD, this comes out to anywhere between $39.96 and $27.27, depending on what size crown pack is bought. I know the vote that matters is the one people will make with their wallets, but just curious to get a sense of what the userbase thinks.

It's definitely not, but since they switched to free-to-play they had to find a way to make up that money. They know that releasing items that are "limited time only" then people will jump on it for some unknown reason.

I stayed in school for a reason! Why would i want to buy a $5 mount when everyone else will buy it.

I look at it like clothes. If you wanna look hot and sexy, you usually have to pay for those nice clothes, and those clothes that aren't from Walmart tend to be more pricey. But if that is the price i have to pay to stand out among the horde...then so be it
