Please tell me I just misunderstood this. But Eric Wrobel said, the nerf for damage shields is now 50% instead of 15%.
He was talking about the nerf to bolt escape, but guess which class is hit by this 50% damage shield nerf ? Right, Sorcerer.

    If this is true, glad I got my Sorcerer to VR14 so I can park her at a crafting station now. Hardened Ward is the only thing that keeps her alive.

    That actually never happened. Haven't you been paying attention. I can't remember a nerf made by ZOS that was less than 25%. They do not do adjustments they use the nerf sledgehammer.

    They just: remove all or part of the effect, cut in two ,add stealth GCD ,change completely usually.It has been like that since beta.

    Against physical damage, I only have hardened ward and physical DDs just cut through it like butter, seriously and I tried everything to max out my shields. I wish they would just nerf Harness Magicka and healing ward and not damage shields in general. No other class relies on damage shields like the Sorcerer.

    We have no self heal, no good defense and we usually are light armor users without any survival tricks. Kill me please :( I knew this would be happening, because everyone is qqing about Sorc shields, even though it's so easy to break them.
    Please, if you are a turtle tank with sword and shield, don't expect to deal much damage.

    I will start leveling my other classes right now. I just knew this would be happening. :) I hope people will begin to see, that the edge of being dead or alive is so tiny for Sorcerers. Even the slightest nerf to damage shields would kill Sorcs, but 50% ! (35% more) That's insane, I've expected 5% or so. I'm sure, on PTS everyone will see, that this and the nerf to bolt escape is too much.

    Then please give Sorc enough damage and remove all Stamina based movement and speed of light things.

    Unless they plan on major (~50%) nerfs to overall damage output of every other class, this adjustment makes no sense.

    Well of course it is. But that was 1.6 for you . You can't really expect anything after that. If they would have taken the "SMALL changes and testing" route back in 1.5 and really gave a concentrated effort on fixing pvp performance this could have been an amazing game by now. What we got is a sniping worthless unbalancing overhaul.

    A lot of skills, passives, and classes will get adjusted over time. I know of two in particular that no one ever mentions, that I use in my build, that I've been expecting to get the nerf bat. But then again, I do have an extremely unusual build...

    Could they be making up for the additonal 35% penalty by making armor affect the shields you place on yourself? That would be an interesting Idea, you could see more heavy armor sorc tanks and such...

    He talked about everyone in PvP taking less damage and less healing. So health would go down slower but also go up slower. There is definitely more to this than "nerf damage shields". They clearly want time to kill to go down, not up.

    For other classes, this might be true, because they have strong self heal, strong defense or can escape like Nightblades.

    Sorcs only had shields, Bolt Escape will no longer work. So I guess all classes will be very happy, since they are tankier now. Not Sorcerers though, they are going to have hard times. No protective shields, no escape.... have fun.

    Some of the awesome sorcs on EU have shields up to 42k that are almost instantly back up. 50% reduction is still 21k shields on that... that's still strong as hell.

    Currently ANYONE can stack all points in magicka, shield up with class shields / harness magicka, and hey presto they have no need to use HP as all 'health' is a shield - This nerf forces people to make use of more attributes than 1 pool - That can only lead to more variation in builds - and variation makes a game interesting

    Also remember they are ALSO REDUCING GENERAL DAMAGE - so it makes barely the slightest difference.

    I think i'm one of a very rare bunch that is happy if their own class gets nerfed (stam blade on main char, sorc on alt) - Not the slightest problem.

    But finally do remember - no content that was promised 7 months ago has come out

    So don't assume the nerf is ever actually going to happen

    The highest "normal shields of hardedned ward and harness i have seen so far was in the 26k range
    (excluding a very specific pet build by CPT CAPS that would it use hardened could reach higher)

    So a damage shield will stop exactly the same amount of attacks after the patch as before the patch.

    They effectively gave everyone 200% health in pvp and kept everything else as it is not and that's it.

    I missed the part about nerfing shields?

    Assuming that is true, with 30K magicka I can get my Sorc to the mid-20s in shield stacking according to my add-ons with average gear that you can craft or that the typical player reasonably afford from sellers*. And I can also take 10-20K plus damage per second by many players who stack damage and weave attacks. Just because "some Sorcs" do something doesn't give a sense of the average player.

    If damage is going to be nerfed in Cyro to a sufficient degree and there is a matching damage shield nerf then OK, but with the nerf to Bolt Escape (again, most players can't bolt forever) we will have to wait and see on the PTS what the combination of changes means. I don't mind nerfs that scale to somewhat clip the wings of the most elite players so that they are still at a big advantage but have to work a little harder, or that correct huge imbalances, but across the board cuts that make it harder for the regular ones to do OK are really frustrating. I'm hoping the result will be the former rather than the latter. I tend to be optimistic so I am going to hold off judgement until I see what happens when I log onto the PTS.

    (*if 2K to 6K per piece is viewed as inexpensive for VR14s, 15-30K per piece as pricey, and anything above as prohibitive for many players.)

    Everyone knows the TTK was ridiculous.
    The changes were bought in to address that.
    Batlle levelled buffs are increase 50% to compensate.

    The guys taken all the forum complaints on board...made major changes to try and address them and gets slated for it.
    Who'd be a DEV right ;)

    1. damage shield spam.
    2. bolt escape spam
    3. dodge roll spam
    4. Stupid low TTK
    5. WB spam.....

    He has reduced the damage....which means BE, shield stacking and dodge had to be nerfed to match...(with increased resources).
    Otherwise the bolters, shield stackers and dodgerollers would be even more invincible.

    So to sum up..
    1. Increaed life.
    2. Reduced damaged
    3. reduced protection "spam"...(you can still protect yourself)
    4. reduced burst damage effect (the 1 shot NB issue).
    5. NB cloak single target immune but aoe revealed (with burst lowered NB needs more survival chance).
