3000cr for a mount - is this reasonable?

MorHawk

At least in CAD, this comes out to anywhere between $39.96 and $27.27, depending on what size crown pack is bought. I know the vote that matters is the one people will make with their wallets, but just curious to get a sense of what the userbase thinks.

No, a Mount really should be no more than £5-10.
A Cosmetic Pet, no more than £2.
A full set of cosmetic clothing, £2-5.

Whoever it is in their "bean-counter-crown-store-delivery department" that thinks I'm paying more for a mount than I pay for most games has clearly drank more Skooma than down-and-out Kajhiit on Khenarthi's Roost docks.

And in reality his/her future employment prospects should be just as good as that Kajhiit's as well.

In WoW, mounts go for US$25. I just bought 3000 crowns for exactly AU$25 (about US$20).
I feel the dollar values you put in your vote/poll are biased and misleading.

    I just bought the horse.
It doesn't make me do more dps.
I don't earn xp faster than someone else.

    I just liked it.

Is it reasonable for a player to want to spend that much? No.

Will some people pay it? Sure they will. Which is why ZOS can charge that much. So it is reasonable for ZOS to try charging that much, since there will always be people willing to pay that much.

3000 crowns is half the price of a new AAA game. If you really like the horse, go ahead and buy it, but I would never pay more than $10 for cosmetics.

It was priced at what I was willing to pay.
I know this isn't WoW, but when you are asking if something is priced fairly, you have to compare it to something.
Hmm... WoW and ESO are two big MMOs. They both sell mounts in their stores (and pets). I think I'll draw a comparison between the two.
And thank you - I will enjoy my mount.

What exactly offends you about this mount and my purchase of it?
The biting sarcasm at the end of your post was quite obvious.

If you don't like something, and its existence in the game doesn't affect you one single iota, then why worry about it?

I feel it's excessive. If it was in the range of 900-1200 crowns, I would buy it without thinking. 3000, nope, sorry, not happening. I CAN afford it. I subscribe and then buy one of the two largest crown packs on top of that to have crowns for things almost every month. The 2500 crown nightmare horse is excessive for me, and this just tops that. No offense to anyone who wants one, I'm sure several of my in game friends will get them, but for me, I'd rather spend the crowns on XP scrolls or food.

Mounts are just pixels. Other things in the shop are also just fluff or things you can get in the game. The community "asked" for a shop? We got it! I couldn't care less how much ZOS think they can milk players for with this stuff. I disagree with the cash shop and the B2P/F2P models, I keep my sub current, I haven't spent a single crown (might buy DLC packs eventually, if I ever decide to unsub).

That said, the minute I feel I need to buy something in order to play the game effectively, I'll bid farewell to Tamriel.

If it makes them more money than it would pricing it lower than yes.
If it deters so many people that it makes less than the last mount did than no.

But at the end of the day nobody is forced to buy it and it offers no bonuses so I think they should price it at what ever makes them the most money.
Now having said that I want to see that money actually materialise as new content and stuff in game.

I initially said no, but I'm kind of on the fence. Games have been selling cosmetics for $25 for years. Part of me thinks the 3000 Crown mount is a combination of inflation and wanting to give subscribers something to spend their crowns on.

Dont forget increased price makes the mount purchased by less people, making the mount more unique.

What does "priced fairly" mean? The average age of the ESO player is well over 30. I'm in my early twenties and can afford $25 every few months. Will I? Nah, but that doesn't make it unfairly priced.

Depends but imo no, i think 1800 for the lioness is the max.
For me 3k crowns is £15, that buys a full DLC in most games.

You need a third option: "It doesn't matter because I will never spend actual money on a mount (or pretty much anything else in the Crown Store)."

I'm glad they are keeping CS prices on the high side because this prioritizes in-game systems over RL currency microtransactions.

I don't think this question is fully asked.

Is it reasonable for them to sell a mount at 3000 crowns, and expect to make a lot of money off of it? No, it isn't. But it's reasonable for them to do it for other reasons, in my opinion.

    ^that +1

In a few months when consoles die down, you will be able to buy ESO again for $30 or less :D

Edit: I won't buy them tho even if they are 1 crown, so by all means go buy! buy! buy! peeps

I'm sorry did I miss the part where I said it wasn't priced fairly for teens? Did I say elderly couldn't afford it? What does age have to do with ***? I'm sure I and others could buy the entire crown store, doesn't mean this item was priced fairly for what it is.
