Well they could keep the game up with the disconnect connection issues. Of course since people are being disconnected and or can not connect what would be the point?

Um... it does have an auto-update feature. It will automatically download patches whenever it detects that a new version is available.

I just leave the launcher running when I know there will be a patch released, and by the time I get home from work, the game is already updated and ready to play.

Sounds like the OP works the 3rd shift. Us 9-5 grinders love it.

Yes because ZOS wants to go into their office at 2am and update just so people like you will stop crying. Deal with it or quit. If you cannot be patient then you should not bother playing any game that is in the MMO category

ESO is a global game. Define "night time" please.

Yes, the United States of America has a large subscription base, but so does Europe and Asia and Australia and...

Use the down time. Take a shower, read a book, talk to your family.

You can hardly compare online banking with server updates for a video game. Other people (aka server admins) work regular hours, and sorry to disappoint you, this doesn't change just because you're on summer holiday.

And for EU servers, it's in the middle of the night 4 am, depending on your time zone.

I think the time updates happen. It's right when I go to work. Perfect!

I think you are missing the point by miles here. Online banking does it in the middle of the night, but what if you are on the opposite timezone? Its the same with this game. They do it at 5am PST, you are just on the other side of the world. Updating all, is much more efficient that doing each one at different times.

by doing it all at once, you can have an easier time dealing with what ever gremlins may be lurking in the system.

Surly there cant be this many players that QQ when a US game goes offline for maintenance at the proper time. If i were to play some korean MMO (which i have plenty of experience in) how in hell is it going to be all about me when they patch or do maintenance when it is not convenient for me? Even if they have/still have US servers, its still a Korean game. Nah sayin?

You missed my point entirely. I said they should do it night time for EU and night time for NA. So 2 updates, not one.

I understand not every update is something that can wait and maybe has to be done at a certain point, but seeing how console gamers have suffered these past days seems like they have not considered how they are hurting their players.

I am not butthurt about this, I also have a social life to attend, but I do think it is important to state some of these things. I could just shut my mouth and be gone with it, but if no one says anything, we are never heard.

It does not matter if I am on summer holiday or not really, but I can easily compare this to online banking. I might not be the best timezone expert but I believe that most EU countries will have a span of like 1-4 hours in difference depending where we are talking.

There is a reason why they have split up the servers for EU and NA.

Online banking is a crucial part of the economic infrastructure, I doubt that you can say the same about ESO.

The point you being on holiday is, everyone who's at work/school/somewhere can't really complain about their schedule. And the EU server exists because of the connection.. we just happen to have the downtime at night, because it's within ZOS office hours (or at least not in the middle of the night).

For The Elder Scrolls Online, consider the timezone catered to in which most people are located in the Eastern timezone and work 9-to-5 jobs during the daytime on the NA megaserver. So there is naturally less people playing the game in that timeframe as a result. No online game that has to go down routinely for server maintenance can cater to everyone's individual schedules: these types of decisions for when to conduct server maintenance are done by aggregate data collected on ZeniMax's end for whether (or not) there is a large number of players during that timeframe.

Regardless of what any company does with their scheduled maintenance times for any online game, you really can't please everyone. Someone will be affected in some way, and it sucks, but it's something we all have to deal with one way or the other, unfortunately.

Hey! Look at it this way. With Tamriel Unlimited, there's no need to feel worried about losing valuable subscription time. I think that's something everyone can be happy about.

I think they should change it up a bit so a different set of people are "screwed" so to speak now and again.
