Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Would you support ESO taking a FFXIV style break to fix it?

We have Wildstar F2P coming August or so, then Blade and Soul NA/EU after that to pass the time (I swear I don't work for NCSoft).

If they did this though, I'd want these added, all to both PC and Console versions unless otherwise stated:
1 - Barbershop of some sort.
    2 - Non-addon minimap option.
3 - Numerous quests allowed in the tracker.
4 - (Console only) Text chat box or any non-voice only way to communicate built into the game.
    5 - Imperial City.
6 - Really well made Arena that goes across all factions. Includes 1 v 1, 3 v 3, Guild v Guild, [Any number non guilded players] v Guild, 50+ player FFA, Capture the Flag/King of the Hill stuff of some sort, all that fun stuff for Arenas.
7 - A purely spectator mode for all the Arena matches. When you are a spectator, you are literally in the Arena's crowd section along with all the other spectators (and NPC's if there aren't enough spectators).
    8 - Betting/Gambling for said spectators.
9 - Betting/Gambling minigames at tables all around Tamriel between players to players. Arm Wrestling, Five Finger Fillet, Card Games, etc.
10 - Not saying Auction House per say, but some sort of a better trading system, ESPECIALLY for consoles. The mandatory voice chat thing is horrendous for trading. Honestly @Gidorick 's Auction Horse idea still sounds good to me.
    11 - Underwater swimming.

There is more that I can't think of at the moment, but I'll update this post when I think of them.

    +1 Sir.

Give me a barbershop and a better trading system for consoles, and I will be happy!

i dont mean a complete rebuild, just the shut down to fix and add.

These things can't be accomplished through periodic maintenance, patches and expansions?

No. I wouldn't, in-fact I am vehemently opposed to it.

X1 launch was gravy compared to PC. Most of the nagging these days are entitled children used to WoW, leave WoW, say they hate WoW then expect every other damn MMO to be just like WoW.

    Go back to WoW.

I have been around MMO's since UO and Asherons Call, seen the evolution of games and all of it's changes made in the face of ugly convenience and entitlement, the allure that there wasn't a general chat back then meant you actually had to go places and do this thing called socialize in white text, for those of you who do not know. Let me drop some knowledge on you, we didn't have all of these nifty channels and chat boxes.

For console, I am glad the only damn thing we have is a voice feature. I do not want my screen clogged by the Entitled.

As much as I love Arena style play, it's not appropriate do to the fact the feel that Cyrodiil provides in many ways an OWPvP/Siege feel, again, I am against convenience of a game and quite frankly ZOS not catering to the crybabies. So stop your whinin', man up enjoy what you got and make suggestions that improve the lifeblood of the game or migrate already, no ones going to miss ya.

I don't read ratings, because in my mind ratings are set by the new school, your ratings are never accurate and I rather go ahead and see for myself. Why? Because newer players lack tact and experience to denote anything that is going to effect my enjoyment of playing ESO. ESO provides that old school demeanor where people actually have to do this thing called socialize and not make socially awkward children who cannot function normally in society.

Boohoos if you don't like it, dont care.

That is not to go without saying that ESO is missing some features, like its Imperial City, but guess what? It's right around the bloody corner. People say there is a lack of end game, yes because there are already functionality problems that need to be addressed first, it's obvious that most people do not even know what C programming or Visual Studios is so let me drop some knowledge on some of you.

Coding is a time consuming, tedious, and monotonous process and if any of the players here where better at it they would probably be hired on to a gaming company to do the coding. Guess what? You are not. The sheer amount of code in this game itself requires a copious amount of work and the amount of hours required just to keep the basic functions of the engine running is immense, let alone all of the neat little fluff that appeals to the players. I do not get it, I rather have a stellar performing game with good graphics rather than complain about every little damn thing that every crybaby on these forums want gift wrapped to them in a gerber bottle then spoon fed to 'em.

The only things I'll even consider agreeing with is X axis expanded down into the water (swimming) and a mini-map.

The only thing console really needs is some numbers on the resource bars and when balanced a recap of damaged, because having to read complaining about people being two shot is getting old. All of the old school games had an extremely fast paced style, either adapt and over come or perish.

    Enjoy.

I agree with you completely apart from this "Why? Because newer players lack tact and experience to denote anything that is going to effect my enjoyment of playing ESO" I actually think that new players can have insightful and interesting opinions that can lead to a game becoming accessible to everybody. I agree some newer players are crybabies but that is not everybody. Apart from that, I agree with everything.

There's not nearly as many problems with this game as the squeaky wheel people make out. All I've really seen are the sometimes invisible NPCs and how we get LOD versions of models occasionally (like stairs). Lower down than that, there are some environment hiccups. And NPC scheduling would be nice but it's really not necessary. So the only issues are cosmetic at best and certainly don't impede play.

Most of the issues come from two sources, which don't apply to me.

    1.) How PvP was shoe-horned in since it's not integral to the experience and they were just trying to go for PvPer money, which is their bed and they have to lie in it;

2.) Confused extroverts who were brought in by the really bad marketing which targets the wrong demographic, and then complain that this game doesn't have nearly enough end-game content when the game isn't at all about the usual extroverted MMO nonsense.

I think that ZOS can just ignore 2. There are no raids. It's not meant for you extroverted types. Not all games are made for you. Deal with it. I'm just sorry they falsely advertised the game to you.

    1, however, is tricky.

I empathise with PvP players because unlike with group 2, there does exist a form of play in the game which targets you. Understandably, you want it to receive attention. This can happen over a period of time in patches, as it does with PvP.

This whole idea of a pause is ludicrous to me. It's an extrovert's delusion that ESO will hide away in a chrysalis and emerge as a beautiful butterfly, with social features, raids galore, and end-game content for the needy extroverts. It's never going to happen. Everyone at ZOS (aside from their marketing department) seems to have gotten the message that ESO is more co-op RPG than MMO. If you look at the content in the game objectively, it obviously is. The only thing that even partially targets an extroverted audience are a few forced grouping dungeons, but those only go up to 4 players and that would never satisfy an extrovert.

So, no. No break is needed. ESO is fine.

all those are awesome ideas but 6 and 7? damn id pay for that alone lol

Maybe that's ZoS plan all along. Make us believe the game is so broken beyond repair and then suddenly come out with magical cures and additions that the poor and desperate people that have been here since start would pay money for it just because it's something new or fixed. Wouldn't be surprising...
Though conspiracy theories aside, @Zazaaji has some good ideas there.

I just wanted to take a moment to put emphasis on this. This is extremely true. As a programmer, I cannot tell you how much it pains me to see people trash "the devs" for so many different things in an MMO.

    A) Programmers are, often, extremely tech savvy. Also, more often than not, the younger programmers (30 or younger) are usually gamers. We know the trends; we read forums and reddit and tech news; we play the same games you guys do.

B ) Programming is convoluted. Thousands to millions of lines of code, with some methods written in ways that make them look like someone barfed up a weird mix of calculus and spaghettios onto the screen... and it does stuff! Modifying a tiny piece of code in some small corner of the codebase that seems to not affect anything important can effect core mechanics across the game, breaking things you'd never even imagine in a million years it could break.

    C) The devs, more often than not, decide nothing. What gets implemented is usually figured out long before the code monkeys get their hands on it, and even if the devs pushed out a fix for a bug the same day they found it, there's usually so much red tape to get it from their source control commit to our grubby little hands that it could take weeks... and that's for a hotfix! Companies LOVE planned releases, and despise unplanned releases. If someone up top can find a way to justify hanging on to a patch for days/weeks/months/years to bundle it together with other stuff, you can bet they will.

    D) Most importantly: developers very, very rarely do not care about their work. We are part engineer, part artist. When we put something out, we want it to work well, and if it doesn't then we want to fix it. You think that annoying bug you found irritates YOU? You can't imagine how badly it probably irritates the dev.

    That's my $0.02 anyway.
