Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Would you support ESO taking a FFXIV style break to fix it?

If today ZM said they would be closing the game temporarily (for a few months) to fix all the issues, add stuff DESPERATELY needed, also to make it so there wont be so much maintenance, would you be ok with that? sort of like how ff14 did and the came out with FF14 ARR. i know i would more than welcome it. would suck, but i want this game to be what it CAN be.

    It can be WoW.

It can be COD with swords.

    It can be dead.

    But it's not.

    They won't.

    Patience padwan.

    It'll be fixed slowly.

    Online or not.

OK if they really will finish and fix the game. Then bring back P2P and dump the crown store I would be cool with it.

But an MMO normally needs weekly maintenance, over time once things pan out they may get away with every 2 weeks.

    I'd be fine with it.
We have Wildstar F2P coming August or so, then Blade and Soul NA/EU after that to pass the time (I swear I don't work for NCSoft).

If they did this though, I'd want these added, all to both PC and Console versions unless otherwise stated:
1 - Barbershop of some sort.
    2 - Non-addon minimap option.
3 - Numerous quests allowed in the tracker.
4 - (Console only) Text chat box or any non-voice only way to communicate built into the game.
    5 - Imperial City.
6 - Really well made Arena that goes across all factions. Includes 1 v 1, 3 v 3, Guild v Guild, [Any number non guilded players] v Guild, 50+ player FFA, Capture the Flag/King of the Hill stuff of some sort, all that fun stuff for Arenas.
7 - A purely spectator mode for all the Arena matches. When you are a spectator, you are literally in the Arena's crowd section along with all the other spectators (and NPC's if there aren't enough spectators).
    8 - Betting/Gambling for said spectators.
9 - Betting/Gambling minigames at tables all around Tamriel between players to players. Arm Wrestling, Five Finger Fillet, Card Games, etc.
10 - Not saying Auction House per say, but some sort of a better trading system, ESPECIALLY for consoles. The mandatory voice chat thing is horrendous for trading. Honestly @Gidorick 's Auction Horse idea still sounds good to me.
    11 - Underwater swimming.

There is more that I can't think of at the moment, but I'll update this post when I think of them.

ive played a good majority of the MMOs out there, none of them had needed this much maintenance. but yes id be willing to pay to play if it was complete and working good and more balanced in pvp. i havent done it much, but ive read a lot where people say its super unbalanced.

I think that ESO doesn't need to shut down to grow, it just needs to chart it's own path. Elder Scrolls is special.... a leader in the genre. ESO can be too.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

It was. And instead of the complete rebuild approach that FF used, ZOS went with the 1000 band-aid solution. I think they should have gone with the former and not doing so will continue to bite them, but time will tell.

From another thread, but it fits here.

Some day, a team of developers should design an MMO from the ground up that does the following:
    • Eliminate leveled zones. Your character can travel literally anywhere
    • Integrate a failsafe worldwide PvP that is gank-proof, that is off by default
    • Design your character to be an average Joe, who can stumble in to the world-saving quest by his choice, or just be a working stiff in the gaming world
    • All quests would be either groupable or soloable; choice left up to the player
    • Enemies would have a variable difficulty, scaled to the player's strength, with difficulty slider included

Yeah, spittin' in the wind, but a guy can dream.

No. Individuals aside, the game is not broken. It is not on the wrong path. It is just being slow about maturing.

It is just a matter of the development team sitting down and executing a plan that continues to build the game content and capabilities. Without getting too focused on the Crown Store and ways to spend Crowns. As others have observed and reported, games that spend too much effort on the Cash Shop often do so at the expense of the game, leaving a very shallow game. ZOS needs to strengthen their game by buckling down and delivering those things that they have talked about over the last year.

Cash shops work when people are actively playing the game. The longer the game can hold the attention of the players, the more opportunity they have to spend money in the cash shop. I don't think that ESO has quite enough to do to command the long term attention of average players, yet.

yes..happy players will spend money on the game..as simple as that.

but it is not just matter of content..i mean there is already ton of content in the game..but quality of life is also very important..and feature which can make those content more enjoy able..zos should focus on quality of life improvement before adding more content.

How long have you been playing the game for? Gargantuan patches with very little changes are the norm. I think it's just lazy programming, really. Easier to make a small change in a module and re-upload the entire module. Surgery with a chainsaw rather than a scalpel.

you know there is something called patch note..if you read the last one..it says that they did quite work on audio files..been playing long enough to know there is patch note.

it would be an interesting take. I mean this game has its issues (as with every single game out there) but i dont think its that bad to the point where the game needs to be taken offline. The game is running fine (for the most part) and i remember with the case with FF it was a horrible mess to begin with! with this game not so much. it has its lag/bug/glitches but not to the point where majority of its game is unplayable.

If they did take that route i would assume there would be some type of compensation for us who have bought the game and now have to wait till its return. i would hope if they did add all the things people want to make this game something they enjoy it doesnt get riddled with paywalls/dlc that needs to be bought in order to get!

Sigh if only they would actually do that but I doubt they will, they'll just lets this crap MMO drag on as long as they can.

I still can't believe how badly ZOS ruined this IP. I mean they were practically handed a good MMO, everything was in place: Lore, maps, city placements, yet they still failed hard.

I think there is a game currently in the works that is kinda like that called The Repopulation still in early alpha but available for early access its ment to a sand box mmo that is inspired by SWG and allows you to do any thing you could be a soldier and clear out nasties or be a proffesional dancer and never have to kill a thing.

What SE did to 1.0 FFXIV was shear balls. Like it was the most brave thing an MMO studio could have possibly attempted to their failing game, and it worked, much to the surprise of like everybody. I'd fully support TESO doing the same move.

Problem is its pricey and time consuming, so I don't really see it happening for another MMO ever.

ESO with all it's broken game mechanics and exploits, can all be fixed while the game is up and running, if they were to shut the game down for repairs that may last a few months, I would most likely lose interest and move on to something else.
