this points to far more systemic, underlying problems:

you guys with 100+ man queues and hours of wait time...you over stacked your server way too much so if if guys like this are keeping you from playing, it's your own fault.

deathporting should not be a thing: fix forward camps or fix the fact that there are too many non-PvP ways of using FCs and rezzing at keeps.

change the *** defense ticks already since they make a joke out of this PvP and they lead to far more problems than AFKers.

and honestly, the guy doing a heavy attack will never be detected by a bot program if he's smart enough to tape down the mouse button and thereby bypass any detection software. it may not look legit, but i haven't seen a game company ban anyone based on looks yet...they will only ban on synthetic, coded proof...

@effinshiddy‌, I agree with most of your post apart from the bit about queues.

It's a more complicated issue than you make it out. You can't really just move campaign to one that is currently dead and being night-capped by a faction for the PvP/PvE buffs. When they remove the buffs and there's no point in the campaigns being dominated, I'm sure slowly people will start moving out of Thornblade and into them.

Also, given the current PvP population they could do with cutting down the campaigns by one more, to increase competition. I'm speaking for the EU server, as I don't know what the population is like in the US.

Here is the deal, I just waited an hour to get in cyrodiil. Kids are busy, wife is watching some TV.

It's bed time for the kids. Get pajamas on, brush teeth, read a book, the routine, etc. takes about 20-30 minutes.

If I leave my PC for 20 minutes, boom, back to PvE land I go and get to wait another hour before I can play.

Usually only get 1 or 2 nights a week to get in a few hours of gameplay. Other nights spent running to swim class with kids, date night with wife, or other things.

So when I have to leave my PC on one of those nights for 30 minutes, I have to run back to the PC and move my character a little bit just to keep him in cyrodiil.

But during that time, he's just standing in a keep motionless.

    Wanna report me? Go ahead...

Bitching about *insert favorite PvP cheat/exploit of the week here* on the forums will go nowhere.
Do it where they want and need you to do it or... [snip].

I've worked as an online game mod for five years, and in my experience this statement is incorrect. The team that watches the forums is often different from the team that answers abuse reports, or the team that answers support questions. If you are only going to choose one, then yes, you'd want it to be the in-game report, but posting it on boards will often bring it to the attention of a different person. If the mods notice that 30 people are experiencing the same problem, they will likely forward it, repeatedly. Day after day until it's resolved.

After my personal experience reporting cheaters, even with video proof, It's waste of your time. I gave up and now I accept exploiters and cheaters as part of the game. Most of the exploits are not intended but allowed to use.

I know from one exploit.. sry from player who knows game well, how to exploit without worries. Find exploit, report it and you have green light to use it until ZoS fix it.

You gain a defense tick after each enemy suicides regardless of whether you hit them or not.

My understanding is someone has to tag them even if it's not you, so if they're suiciding before they've been tagged they wouldn't generate AP. So I believe you are wrong in this, but I will test tonight.

Actually, you are wrong. You don't even have to touch them to gain the defense tick. You have to tag them to get the kill AP but you do not have to tag them to gain the defense ap.

If you believe that creating a third party script to run your game is "ok" then you're pretty well rooted in that belief. I'm not looking to change your opinion. We can agree to disagree.

It's quite obvious why he is doing this. Since the resource was enemy controlled he would gain a defense tick for each enemy that used this resource as a suicide resource. He doesn't even have to be at the computer but he still gains legitimate AP.

Hold the phone, why would he gain any AP? For a def tick to dispense, AP has to be generated. For AP to be generated, someone would have to tag the player before he suicides. So if the guy is just sitting inside the tower, not tagging anyone, why would any AP be generated and a tick dispensed?

    Overreacting much?

Wrong you just have to be at a keep that gets hit even by one seige shot and you will gain AP all day long
Well that's just a stupid system then. You shouldn't get AP just for being present.

It's a way to give AP for people doing things other than actively fighting...like providing intel, putting up FCs, repairing walls, etc.

You don't want to punish those people just to stop cheaters. Cheaters will get bored of the game and move on. Cheaters getting AP really doesn't hurt anyone else.

Gold farming is different as it can ruin the economy, but AP farming, even through cheating, (or not even cheating, just using the system. Hell, I can be hanging out in Faregyl all night chatting, goofing around and racking up AP....cheesy, but not sure it's cheating.

It's an automated one-stroke (heh!) system set up either w/ a key bind or a mouse bind using an outside macro-ing program (razer for instance has great macro capabilities w/ it's software) that allows you to be one-shot killed...it's quite rampant in this game and yet no one uses them...at least that's the story you'll get....

I agree with what everyone has been saying about players doing farming with out playing with there own two hands & using a tool of some kind to do it for them BUT at the same time I DO HATE the idea that if someone is not able to log in for long periods of time the game punishes them for it A good example of this experience pints this one thing binds low active players (any ware from a few min of play to only 2 hours of play a day) to low lvl areas where they can grow but if u have friends who all play 3 or 4 or 10hours a day you will be un able to play with them in about 1 to 2 days because this game does not spike up xp if u kill a higher lvl enemy compared to u so that means you cannot do a xp train ( a activity where a higher lvl player helps a lower lvl player gain lots of xp by helping the lower lvl player kill enemies that would other wise on hit kill said low lvl player) with your higher lvl friends

By doing that you all but force the hands of gamers who have active real life lives to do afk farming for xp, money, item drops or any other task that takes a sizeable amount of real life time to get in game to do these afk farming we all hate so much

There is a way to help reduce this how ever give players a way to gain xp and gold through a side task that run 24/7 that gives the player or the account a small or large amount of gold or xp possible even items

This thread isn't about just going AFK legitimately, but doing so in a location you cannot easily be killed, and are able to earn game points & leveling unattended. Night after night.

I have a very hard time fathoming how anyone could think, let alone have the hubris to claim, that using a macro or any other automated means, physical or virtual (software), to accrue earnings in-game (AP, skill line ranks, and the AP can be sold/used to buy items to sell at a very favorable exchange rate in gold nowadays), is "OK" in any way, shape, or form. It's not only obviously immoral (cheating to get stuff free in a game or bypass mechanics intended to combat that), but if people are truly unable to understand why cheating in an online game is wrong... then read the Terms of Service you agreed to when activating your account.

When you created your game account here, you specifically stated and confirmed that you understood using exploits was wrong and you would be banned for doing so if caught. This isn't a debate. Arguing that abusing a game mechanic by bypassing the game system intended to prevent you from doing exactly that is cut and dry. The queue? There's rarely any queue, and when there is, and you are not going to play, why does anyone have the gall to claim they should be able to reserve the slot in the campaign when they are not even going to be there for hours, blocking out someone else actively trying to play from joining in the first place?

And really... the whole "but I need to go to the bathroom" or "I wanted to go out to dinner" excuses people are making up here? Don't insult everyone else's intelligence by even saying them. I don't think there's any way to be more transparent about knowing it's wrong in the universe, other than perhaps a vacuum in outer space where no matter exists ;). If you need to go to the restroom, you don't AFK repeatedly where you are already well aware (& just to play hypothetical devil's advocate, as ridiculous as it is... by commenting in this thread about it you demonstrated you know it), and 99% of the time specifically moved there for this exact reason that you would earn things in the game for doing so and even set things up purposefully with a way to avoid being logged out. You go AFK. If you take too long, you log back in.

That's what people normally do, if they aren't aiming to cheat. ;) Normal gameplay doesn't involve quote-unquote "using the bathroom" every day of the week, miraculously occurring almost every time inside of a resource tower that your faction owns at a location people will frequently suicide into for travel, and somehow magically the game "glitching" (quote-unquote) leaving you logged in.

Also, last I checked, your toons don't normally cast various damage shields on themselves randomly while you're out at a restaurant. :p@Lionxoft, have you seen that happen ever on your character? I sure haven't on mine! =)

Zenimax does take action on this if you report the player.

Back before 1.6 I was playing non-vet pvp on my AD sorcerer and a player who was VR1 got crowned Empress. I logged off knowing the person wouldn't be Empress the next day, however, due to real life I couldn't get back online for about three days. Logged on and noticed said person was still Empress! Was told by a few friends that she was caught at the gates heavy attack spamming, so I instantly reported her and had several others do as well.

30 minutes later while sitting with the scroll in Farragut grouping up to run it south the message for dethrone appears! Found out from a friend of the Empress that a GM teleported her to Auridon and other things happened to her.

So yeah, Zenimax will take care of it if you report the player.

That said, we encourage you to report anyone you suspect of violating our Terms of Service so that we can investigate and take the appropriate action.

Last time I reported a player I got an email telling me about too much service traffic with console people and was recommended to read the FAQ on the official TESO website. So this was the last time I reported anything for sure...
Don't worry, the other option is some *** automated reply informing you that you can also ignore players.

I've had that automated reply so many times now Hotmail files it under junk!

Hey, all. We want to pop in and let you know that we do take accusations of cheating or Terms of Service violations very seriously. All reports that you file in-game are investigated by our Terms of Service team who determine what, if any, action is appropriate to take. While the Terms of Service team will not inform you of the results of their investigation, rest assured that your reports are not falling on deaf ears.

As stated in our forum Code of Conduct, the ESO Community, Social, Moderation, and Tech Support teams cannot assist with in-game Terms of Service investigations or reports, which is the primary reason that we do not allow these reports on the forums. We also do not allow naming-and-shaming, because accusations posted on the forums can quickly turn into witch-hunts in-game. We do not allow players to be negatively called out on the forums to protect their privacy and safety.

That said, we encourage you to report anyone you suspect of violating our Terms of Service so that we can investigate and take the appropriate action.

    Really?

People now do this with their (FTP) multi account while AoE grinding mobs in many locations for the bonus 20% experience (2 party group + ring of mara).

I've seen several people in stealth in caves auto-attacking a wall
