Should I be saving my skill points?

Rizzice

I just started the game and I'm not entirely sure what route I want to take in terms of weapons/skills. I am a Khajiit NB right now and I'm enjoying using 2h, but I don't want to waste skill points on 2h skills if I decide to switch later on. Just wondering how worried about messing up my build should I be or do most people restart characters a lot when they're first starting out?

Try everything.....you can always respect them later. Respect costs are determined by how many skill points your resetting. So early on it is relatively cheap to respect them if you want to try different things.

@Cuyler is right, go ahead and spec however you like. I mean, sure, it helps to focus primarily on stamina or magicka skills because changes have made hybrids more challenging at higher levels of play, but, try things out and know you can change them later (including your attribute points spent on health, magicka, and stamina).

If you do decide to respec later there are shrines for respeccing skill points (and attributes) in the capital city of each alliance:
Aldmeri Dominion : Shrine to Stendarr in Elden Root, Grahtwood.
Attribute Reset : Shrine to Auriel, Elden Root

Ebonheart Pact : Shrine to Stuhn is in Mournhold, Deshaan.
Attribute Reset : Shrine to Kyne, Mournhold

Daggerfall Covenant : Shrine to Stendarr is in Wayrest, Stormhaven.
Attribute Reset : Shrine to Akatosh, Wayrest

The cost to respect is per point, but it isn't too bad. They were lowered quite a bit from what they used to be. And it's cheaper if you just want to reset the morphs of all of your skills rather than getting a total refund on all your skills to start over from scratch. So explore and try out whatever you like and find what's fun/what works for you! :)

You also have to remember you get a lot of points, more then enough to cover everything you want to try. I keep putting points in to all sorts of things, and then as I earn more I can easily try a new weapon etc. without even bothering to respec.

Yep, as mentioned, you can respec later on, in the second area I think (Stormhaven for Daggerfall). I always keep a few points at hand just in case though.
Respeccing costs a fair bit especially for a low level character but just experiment with things until you find what you like.

@Rizzice, I had the same question. Eventually I have spend all my skill points. Yes, some of the skill points are lost which is a shame. If you notice a shortage of skill points lookup a map of skyshard locations and gather them.. it took me about 45 minutes of exploring and resulted in 5 additional skill points on lvl 13, which is a lot for me!
