This is my approach as well.
If I'd had known this game came without certain (imo) basic features, I would've saved my money.
How about adding if this dam thread does not show enough reason to put one in asap then ZOS really does not care and then we really have a problem.
It's weird that after a year and change, I still honestly don't know whether they do or not.
I believe they once had a passion for ESO but I'd bet most have lost that due to decisions of the upper staff or just plain bad reputation. The moment someone gives up it just becomes a normal job and you just kill time till you go home.
Some of skyrims mods are so unreal and breath taking because the modder did it out of passion.
I just hope it is rekindled after seeing the numbers from the console platforms or they just let the modders in and give them the tools to eso so they can submit content,features and fixes to them.

A game is a service (even more a MMO) done to customers, if customers say it would be good if the service offer something specific, they must listen and comment to the request. If not, they will lose customers to another service.
apparently this already happened to them, today the game has no monthly fees.......
I know at some point they will talk about text chat, but they should be thinking of a better way to include it in game

We all have payed this isn't a f2p MMO. I will always feel as this game was never complete for me if they don't add chat features. If PC has it, we should to. We payed the same amount plus are paying more fore console Internet but thats another story.Day dreaming created cities2 -
I vote yes chat. No explanation needed this game needs this to survive IMO. Those group queues at 330 am are brutally vacant.4 -

Your wrong if its option it makes it harder for both Groups.Lets say you are using text chat and am using voice chat more then likely you have voice chat muted and I have text chat hidden the two of us will be in front of each other trying to communicate and neither would know what the other is saying.Even if we have it as a option it will be a bigger split between the people who use it openly and don't have a problem with it and players who have it muted.Neither side will be able to communicate.It becomes a problem for everyone.Instead people should trying to help ZOS improve the voice chat ,instead they want to add something that will make grouping harder for one side and communicating to everyone harder for both side.Like I said before if you point it out to someone that you can hear their music in my experience 8/10 times they turn it down/leave or mute their mics.Also when it comes to trolls just show them its not acceptable and they will stop if you shun the trolls they will stop being trolls.So i say lets help ZOS improve voice chat show trolls that we won't take their harassment and pointing things out to people will allow us all to have a better experience all around.
Also am fine with them creating a app that has a chat text within it but not on screen.Another thing you still have to look away and pick up a keyboard to type a message in chat text so picking up your phone or tablet won't take any extra time away from you playing then picking up a keyboard..Most console players don't have keyboards so they will have to use the pop up keyboard that takes even longer then picking up you Phone.Edited by Jaronking on June 26, 2015 6:09AM0 -

Judging by all your previous posts on this subject im going to go out on a limb and say your just a troll you have yet to make 1 valid argument on why a toggled text box isnt needed. I grow tiresome of seen your bait posts and your attempts to derail this thread in future refrain from posting unless you have something worth reading. NO because its a MMO as in a Massive multiplayer online just encase you don't know what that is.So seeing other players in a MMO wouldn't ruin my Immersion.Also I was joking that's why i added this at the end.If you been apart of the forums for longer then a month then you will know that if someone claim if they add something they don't like it will ruin their immersion then ZOS won't add it.Look at the damage numbers thread.Now to get serious just because someone disagrees with you and their arguments differs from yours that does not mean their arguments are invalid or a troll they just disagree with you .Also I am getting tired of this thread as well its just the same people posting the same thing over and over again am fine with people voicing their opinions that they want text chat but you should also allow people to voice against it.Without getting harass look at Newblacksmurf he posted against it gave valid reason why not to add it and people attacked him and told him not to post in threads like this anymore .When he was just voicing his opinion and people claimed he was a troll for disagreeing with other people .This is a discussion in a discussion I should be able to say what I think about the subject of the discussion and put up my reason for not adding something or to add it.So if voicing my opinion makes me a Troll then am a troll because I disagree with you.I shall become the Troll king and live under a bridge

Lastly if you read any of my post mainly the last one I never said it was to hard I said it takes to long so you should read my post an put up a valid argument against it.Also what mounted keyboard have you found that cost 10$? I only seen some ranging from 30-50$.My opinion is to not have it on screen am fine having it as a second screen option like in a app so if someone can use it on the go as well.So even when your not playing you can still have a chance to sell some mats or armor and even give players advice and stay up to date on what your guilds is doing in game.That's why I say have it as a second screen options.

Drakk89815✭✭I have to say before this game came out i was firmly in the "need text chat" camp. I have been playing the last couple of weeks on Xbox and have found that I haven't had a need for text chat once. I quest generally on my own or with my existing friends, when i did the group delve i used group finder and was lucky enough to find a great group who i have joined a clan (although from their stories they weren't always as lucky with group finder), and the only time i actively see out others to play with is adventuring/pvping in cyrodil which I have joined 4 clans so there is always someone about to do this with.
I find that i highly value the ability to just jump into party/guild/group chat with my friends and find it an easy way to communicate and that i don't feel the need for text chat at all.
However, i still feel that text chat is something that should be implemented.
1. Guild Chat. I am a member of multiple guilds. I have no way to communicate with any guildmembers online who need help or are organising raids. This is due to the ability to only be in 1 guilds chat channel at a time, or only be in party chat. There is no way for me to communicate with my other friends/guildmates with the current system. I know that if raids are being organised 'Message of the Day' can be used, but that doesn't help any low ranked member ask for help if required, and i need to have gone into the social channel to see it.
2. Once again this comes under the unable to communicate with other channels. One of my favourite parts of MMO's is the random encounters you have with other players while exploring. If i am in a party or have my voice muted (there are many reasons this could be the case and I'm not listing them here), then i lack the ability to communicate with others. While i tend to quite enjoy going through regions on my own, the ability to chat with people doing my quests without having to constantly change channels would be highly beneficial.
3. Area chat can be restrictive. While are chat is there for those in your immediate vicinity. There's no way to communicate with those who are further out in your zone. Another part of MMOs that i enjoy is that chat that comes up asking for help with Boss X or Quest Y. I may not have any plans to do it, or may have already done it, but that message comes up & I find myself wanting to try it, or actually be kind and help a lower level person out. Its part of the experience of being in an MMO are the random things you find yourself doing just because someone asks. I find this missing.
To summarise, I find voice chat to be great, and the lack of text on my screen highly enjoyable. Group finder has been a great experience so far. But text would bridge the gap to the wider community, those randoms you don't expect to meet, or your friends in another channel. I'm not sure if there is a correct fix for this, maybe text chat on a companion app, but i find that while voice chat makes this game fantastic, i feel i am missing out on communicating with the wider community of ESO.

It's been a methodical, very well planned cash grab from the very beginning. I'm assuming text chat will be implemented along with a few other "fixes" to improve the life of the game, but you'll never see true improvement in this game until it dies.0 -

You can't seriously be using this as an argument to have the only form of communication be through often-offensive and ALWAYS immersion-ruining voice chat...1
