College Campus Connectivity - ESO could fail in couple of months

scoreupski
Similar to Destiny's release. Connection through campus internet would fail. You would be able to play for about 5 minutes until you loose connection to the server. Destiny WAS able to fix this problem and college students were able to connect. Now, I know it's summer right now, but when college students head back to school...they will most likely not be able to play. Can ESO fix this issue like Destiny? What do you guys think?

I think they should work to ensure that all ESO-players will be able to connect wherever they are.
Especially on a college campus. I'm pretty sure you guys make up a good chunk of the player base.

"Ultimately, it was determined that campus IT departments were using network monitoring devices that misinterpreted Destiny’s servers as bit torrent servers." Interesting quote I found about Destiny's servers. I wonder if ESO has this problem but it hasn't been brought up due to it being summer.

“We have determined the cause at the root of most of the issues being encountered on university campuses. We have been in touch with network admins at most of the universities listed on this forum (thanks again for helping us help you). In summary, there are network security devices that have been incorrectly identifying Destiny traffic as a bit-torrent. We have also reached out the manufacturers of the security devices in question. They’ve been awesome, and have released an update that will allow you to play on a network protected by their hardware. That update will need to be applied by your local network administrators, assuming they have not done this already.

    LOL

ESO won't fail just because college kids can't play on Tues, Thurs and Weekends. Actually my experiences are the opposite. College kids are the most casual, pick up the game for a couple hours a week and quit after 2 months for another game.

    HyperBole much?

College kids actually make a solid amount of gamers. Same thing happened to Destiny but they fixed it right away due to the game being released during school.

That's all fine an dandy, but to extrapolate that to say a game will fail due to this reason is just preposterous. Fixing it obv is beneficial to the company, but wont make or break the longevity of the game or it's availability.
