No, it isn't the same at all. You see character names in zone chat, in group and when looking at people directly. Basically, all interactions with strangers use character name. And it's great because when I run around, I see Blood-On-His-Scales, Svari Strong-Shield and Aeland Gemleius instead of random combinations of immersion-breaking letters and numbers.jamesharv2005ub17_ESO wrote: »Its the exact same way on the PC. The only time you see the actual character name is in zone chat. You guys dont have that because its all voice. In guild tho I am listed by my acct name and not character name. So on pc also noone really ever sees your character name.
I personally am fine with it how it is. If they were to do anything I would want something showing both names. I have friends with pretty good xboxlive names which actually could be snapped up by people if given the option.
With how console players are and that 99.99999999999999999999999999999% of games use your gamertag I feel if someone with the ESO name just like theirs was acting stupid they could be the ones reported to Microsoft and while nothing normally happens if that person in ESO is spouting off insults and raciest remarks they could get a bad rep.
In the end I don't feel its worth development time as while I haven't play on MAC for the last 12 months I have read through the year about all the potential content releases that have been delayed. I would much rather have imperial city than a custom name in ESO and I would bet a large majority ingame would as well. I am more surprised that people thought that the gamertag wouldn't be your primary identifier.
Not really. On PC/MAC we have addons that take care of this.

We just have character names. the @ name (account) only appears on contacts/guilds.
no addon' changes that. as far as I know

Yea, sucks to be in console, i guess... you are ~trying~ to rp and then some Xx420qUiCkScOp3xX pops in and asks how you doing. k, lel'
The only good thing about seeing those names is you can weed out the kids...grown people don't alternate upper and lower case letters.Yea, sucks to be in console, i guess... you are ~trying~ to rp and then some Xx420qUiCkScOp3xX pops in and asks how you doing. k, lel'

It's because ALL other console mmos allow you to use the character name.
I'm am more surprised you don't realize the character names are still tied to account names and thus reporting behavior is affected zero by this.
Love this game, only have one major thing that's irritating the heck out of me. WHY are we using live account names?!???!
Mine is *** and no I'm not paying Microsoft 10$ to change it, not that anything would be available anyway.
What's is the point in even naming your character if it dosnt appear anywhere?

Uh no....
If my xboxlive gamertag is vampireprince and someone else uses vampireprince as their ESO character name and I go directly to xbox.com to report a player or look up the gamertag to report it would not report the correct person......

You are very wrong about this.
There needs to be a way to see both Gamertag AND character name. I see no point in even having a character name if it's never used or seen.
@nastuug. I would but have you ever tried creating a live account lately? I played around with it to see what was available and literally nothing is besides extremely weird combinations of words or numbers and letters.
You have to remember this isn't competing with one game community for a name, your competing with everyone who's ever signed up for an Xbox live account, I can't even imagine how many that is
