Hi,
I've tried to search for a few keywords, but haven't had any success. I'm playing ESO on PS4 and a lot of people will refuse to group or quest together when there's a 5+ level difference because there's a rumor going around that if you're +/- 5 levels from a mob that you don't get any experience, or it's greatly reduced. Which to me, doesn't seem to make sense with traditional MMORPGs. I realize, and traditionally if you've killed a creature that is grossly under your level then no experience was awarded. But if you managed to kill a creature which was significantly harder and higher in level, then you were at the bare minimum not handicapped in the XP reward.
Is anyone able to clarify, is there an official post somewhere on the experience gain and how it's affected by party members who are above or below a 5 level or greater margin of difference?
These are some of the questions that I've been having;
Assume I'm level 30.
1. If I'm level 30 and I quest with my level 40 friend in a level 40 area, will I receive XP or should I be returning to a 30-35 zone? And Vice Versa, what if my level 40 friend comes into a quest area for 30 - will he not be awarded any XP ?
2. In dungeons, and this is the more problematic one - I'm level 30 and I'm the group leader - so I enter a dungeon and all the mobs are level 30. I then have a level 20 friend and a level 40 friend join my party. Will the level 20 still benefit, or will he be receiving much less XP (and likewise for the level 40)?
What is happening as a result of this theory/rumor is that some of our higher level players won't want to group with lower level characters because it's essentially not time efficient for them at all, and "We can all go do PVP if you'd like, but I can't run dungeons with you because I wont get XP" is what's coming out of it.
Is this myth true or false?
Any insight is helpful, and thank you.
