Help for an Elder

Hi everyone. I have been playing ESO for about a week now and am loving the game. My hubby and I are both seniors. The game keeps us off the streets :) and is also good for brain functions, memory, etc. I purchased and downloaded the Imperial Edition for hubby to play (mine is just the regular edition), thinking that maybe the Imperial class will be easier for him to stay alive. He is pretty new at MMO's (I have played a few now....not a good player, but I have fun :p ). Anyhow, I would like recommendations for class for my hubby to play where he can run around and do quests and not get killed all of the time (he will solo and wont be doing dungeons). I was thinking of perhaps Imperial or a Nord, but not sure about the class. Would a Dragonknight or a Templer (because of self healing???) be best? Anyhow, any input will be most appreciated. Thank you in advance. <3

As a Templar I can solo very easily, if I get low I just heal myself and heavy attack with my resto staff if I get low on mana

Yeah, for new players healing and being tanky is easier for Templars and Dragonknights. Sorcerers and Nightblades can be powerful in their own way, but they often require more of a learning curve for less experiences players.

Class is less important in ESO then in other MMO's.
As he is new to the format I would suggest to try them all out till atleast level 20. It doesn't take too long and imo it is important to take your time finding your own playstyle. I can say what I enjoy or like, but that is no garantee it will be the same for him.

If he is attracked to hacking and slashing and bashing heads of enemy's with sharp objects ;) then the dragonknight is a good one to try first. It is pretty easy to play, behaves well with heavy armor and is pretty durable too. perfect for those first steps in the world of MMO's

A dragon Knight with a restoration staff and a good two handed sword. The greatsword has Brawler which is a heal, a Dragon Knight with a good amount of Magic can kick azz in everything in this game he wants to do. I still believe that Sorcerers are the most powerful in this game though, I don't play one but often die to them in PvP.
With a Resto staff he can use it to heal himself or attack from range. An Imperial has the highest stats in the game. They have racials that are hard to beat.

DragonKnight Imperial is a great class, that's what I am an his tops weapons are bows destruction staffs and 2 handed weapons. Great with all 3 of those weapons types plus I have 2 restorations staffs.

If you play the game together, you should have little problems doing most of the content from level 1 to 50 regardless of skill. The main quest and some of the mages' and fighters' guild quests will thrown you into some solo instanced areas, so there you need to prepare for fighting without an ally, but even there you have quite a bit of leeway in terms of being bad, picking the "wrong" class, race or build, or simply not making a 100% effort to be your best. Play as you like, learn as you go, and you will probably have a good time in Tamriel.
Veteran zones are a little bit harder, but not much. If you quest together, you can expect a pleasant journey even there, perhaps to the point where you wish the game was more difficult.
Craglorn (the last zone, the one you are supposed to do after the Veteran zones) requires you to group up with more people, but apart from that it's not really more difficult.
Veteran dungeons, trials and PvP require you to group up, think, plan, practice, use good gear and accept that some play styles are not going to work, but that content is all optional.

    Have fun!

An imperial Templar is probably the most versatile class/race combo available. Can be tank, healer or dps and can switch between stamina and magicka and still be completely viable in the endgame.

This has been really helpful. I think hubby will be more of a hack and slash kinda guy so will start his first character as an Imperial Dragonknight. B) Thank you all so much!
