Ungodly "Gods".

So I just met Sithis, who uses the same voice as every other snake you talk to, let alone uses the same if not red tinted "giant" snake form.

All the gods in-game you meet just seem to be so, reused...Average...Non-Unique...Ungodly.

I was hoping when I met Sithis, the fact that it'd be him, would be really apparently, but he's pretty much just another copy-paste-snake-throw-in-the-same-voice-actor-laziness formula a lot of the other important and non-important characters use. (Or even you can make your self in-gen) Same with every other god. Maybe not Sheogorath? Who knows, haven't heard his voice on another character but you can pretty much copy his look down to a T in the character creation.

I wonder why they don't give some kind of variety to their important characters. I got the limited voice actor thing. Okay sure.

But no unique hair? Or eyes? Or something? Just, throw a bit of sparkle effect or glow to them and boom, instant-god?

Is anyone else disappointed with the bigger characters just being clones of every other common, run-of-the-mill NPC?

Well they aren't "gods", they're deadric princes :). And very rarely did you ever come face to face with one in past ES games. The only example I can think of off the top of my head is the oblivion dlc shimmering isles where you meet sheogorath.

Often theyre run of the mill npc's because they can't walk this realm without terror/praise so They choose disguises.

There are a few encounters where you "meet" a deadric prince, and they are just another common visual. I think of it as the deadric prince possessing some spider daedra, dremora, snake, whatever to speak to you mortal... much like others speak through their statues.

The only three you meet in person, so to speak, are Molag Bal (duh), Sheogorath (who's always like this anyways), and Meridia (who is in disguise, sort of). There may be more coming someday in an DLC... other daedric princes would make for good expansion material, as gets hinted at slightly in the conversation after beating the final main quest boss...

Absolutely <3 He is everything. He is nothing. He is all. He is void. He is the Dark Husband. He is Sithis.

You may not meet more "Daedric Princes" But you do meet several more "Beings" who are referred to as actual "Gods". And the only thing special about them is that they have a glow or are a spirit. Namely, the same glow, or spirit model, literally every common enemy's/ghosts/NPCs uses.

And just for fun that brings me to this point that Azalin pointed out.

Yes. This all the way. Almost every time I have met a god in-game. They have been utterly useless to stop anything that has happened to them. And even after getting their powers back, give no real benefit any further into the quest-line after leaving their area. Very, very ungodly.

I guess what you consider a "God" depends on your point of lore/roleplay/beliefs. As they are prayed to and even referred to as "The Old Gods" in Oblivion and Skyrim (Maybe even Morrowind, but there is a huge amount of worship in that game) I'd say, that they are indeed gods as far as gods seem to go in TES.

As for taking a role-playing stance on why they are in such common/over-used form... I like that.

But the truth and fact is, that they just copy-paste the same code, resulting in the same models, shared race skeletons, and even common-run-of-the-mill looks for gods.

They have no real assets that we know of set aside for any character and pretty much just base everything off of the Character Gen. Which really hurts the feel to a character who is supposed to...Well, feel special.

Would be interesting if gods/demigods could appear in your form, but constantly changing one feature such as hair, or face markings, etc...every 30 seconds or so. And in different clothing. Would be especially cool if they explained this in their text, even going so far as intimating that some small trivial change in your life could have resulted in you looking like their current appearance.

Molag Bal, Sheogorath and Hermaeus mora are the only unique (in terms of design) daedric princes you see as far as I remember. I agree we should have seen more of them (Meridia was... meh).

Almalexia is an important character but not really a daedric prince so how they designed her was ok. I wish they would have let us go in the inner temple after completing the quest and still let us be able to talk to her... Seeing the Tribunal temple empty is heartbreaking :'(

Or maybe the "gods" wanna show that they can be at the same level as mortals instead of what every one expects them to be. Like if I ever meet Kyne I wanna meet her face to face not her towering over me while staring up her dress getting a peek of her divine under garments. Like Mederida did in the hallow city near the end of the story. Just cause there "gods" doesn't mean they have to act like it.

Does no one remember oblivion lol? No one has mentioned mehrunes Dagon walking tamriel in his real form, which is gigantic and only struck down when Martin septim transformed into a dragon. Possibly another reason they possess regular people, their realm and ours are much different so they could end up being 5 stories tall like Dagon was (i just remember he was really really tall, been like 6years since played oblivion).

Also yea, sheogorath is my favorite deadric Prince, always playing a joke on someone he is. Sometimes it's a mistaken drinking game, sometimes he makes it rain skeevers, never a dull moment with the trickster Prince.

Then why appear glowing and sparkling and transformed at all?

Why not just appear as a normal mortal with a magical entrance?

The fact is, that they do try to appear as the gods they are.

So they should have a godly appearance since they are trying to appear that way.

    But they don't.

Only, because Zenimax didn't give them one.

Not because they are trying to downplay themselves.

Nothing screams special besides their own voice saying worship me.

The issue with "appearing in person" for a Daedric Prince is that... Daedric Princes manifested their individual planes of Oblivion from themselves, essentially each Prince is a dimension, slipping tiny fragments of themselves into the Mundus. So the only Princes you come close to meeting in person are Molag Bal and Mehrunes Dagon. This also explains why Princes cannot be killed save by another Prince sacrificing him/herself -- the whole dimension needs to be destroyed, which would take another dimension.

Well, yeah, when you see one "in person" you're seeing an avatar of them. And that's an avatar in the true sense of the word, not in the gaming sense of the word.

They project themselves through the veil of the mundus. Or something like that...

You do meet Sheogorath in his realm, so thats probably up there with closest. Even then though, with sheogorath you can never be sure... Regardless, in the shivering isles dlc we see a state shift in a daedric dimention. Or at least the start of one.

Lol. not sure abotu the wink there...

Big S... well he does show up in 1 quest in Shadowfen.. and as a red snake ghost (which is what the OP is referencing)... considering there is at least 1 other quest in the zone that has an animal totem spirit level entity that shows up as the same red snake ghost model, it does make Big S look kinda low rent.
I've always gotten the vibe that Caldwell is either Molag Bal (playing the long game and keeping tabs on player...and it is part of his planning the long run to actually lose).... Meridia basically says we can't even understand the basic concepts of the games they are playing... or maybe he's Uncle Sheo... ganging up on Good old Molag. Hes kinda chummy with Meridia for someone who is supposedly an Ant compared to her.. and Caldwell's gold and silver really doesn't seem to be under her kinda of umbrella of influence.

Big S... well he does show up in 1 quest in Shadowfen.. and as a red snake ghost (which is what the OP is referencing)... considering there is at least 1 other quest in the zone that has an animal totem spirit level entity that shows up as the same red snake ghost model, it does make Big S look kinda low rent.

Do you mean the Ghost Snake from the Valley of the Ghost Snake? Where is it ever refered to as Sithis?
