ESO Vs Boredom

EndlessLuny
I'm an Elder Scrolls fanI played Oblivion through and Though easily 50 times different chacters and such and never got bored. Played Skyrim and Enjoyed it just the Same played it through and through Doing different things and Finding all mask and being nice or mean and leveling all skills up!!!

ESO I was excited for I could'nt wait for it to come out I pre-Ordered it and waited for it to Download Drowling everywhere I pla about 5 hours staright and I ge to level 6 ( Doing every quest and Killing ebery monster I see) desiging my Argo first 30-45 minutes hour or two after that spent exploring then last couple hours I GRinded Quest every one I saw I down even in a middle of a current one.

After 5 hours I got a little bored of ESO and that annoyed me!!!! I was Expecting to play it for years and never get bored but after 5 hours I got bored and started playing Witcher 3. Any one else feeling bored ?

I do when i play solo pve. Its badly designed, with terrible amount of fetch quests, granted full voiced. If not for pvp and sometimes a dungeon i would log in even less.

The quests are sort of boring. I mean you see a farmer where bandits are attacking his farm, but do you get a quest to kill said bandits? Nope, you get a quest to go and talk to so and so 4 miles away lol

Can't say I had this issue. I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough the first time round. Course I also had friends to enjoy the dungeons with along the way. Then again, I also had the opposite experience when it comes to TES games. Oblivion and Skyrim bored me quickly with limited redeeming features. So I am an oddball.

Exactly. Furthermore there is a very limited (when you look at the number of quests in this game) number of types of quests. Even before lvl 50 i often had a nasty deja vu, and after starting vr zones... yeah lets not even talk about it.

Yes i am I used to play on PC in my younger days but I always like the feel of Console Controllers better and the Fact that Its cheaper to play Consoles due to the fact you dont have to pay to udpate your Video or sound card and worry about your MOther board cooking itsself because you play so much (Guilty)

The original Elder Scrolls games were single player RPGs, so the single player experience is of course going to be much more developed and engaging. You should be comparing ESO to other MMOs, and not single player games. Now if ESO was ACTUALLY Elder Scrolls 5, or 6 or even Skyrim: 2 - I would understand the comparison, but it's not - it's Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited - a massively multiplayer online role playing game set in the Elder Scrolls Universe.

All that said, I do agree that the quests can be a bit boring at times - especially when the quest is not part of any larger story-line, but that has always been the case with any questing in any MMO. And even though I can get bored with the quests after a couple hours, there is so much more to do in the game to get me away from the quest grind.

For example, when you're bored with quests you can:
Explore, and discover chests, skyshards, easter egg type stuff.
Queue up Cyrodiil and smash faces, or explore.
Work on crafting, collect materials, sell stuff.
Dungeons, delves, world bosses, dark anchors, etc.
    Grind mobs to level?

Anything the least bit repetitive can get boring, that's why you mix it up.

Bored? Nope. Too much stuff to do.

My immediate thought is that anyone who could play Oblivion 50 with with different characters and such should, under no circumstances, have any trouble finding something to do with ESO. Oblivion had a lot of hours in it, but I never felt it had 50 times worth of play in it, no matter how many mods I had in it. Skyrim has more hours than Oblivion, but not enough for 50 times.

I don't have very many hours in ESO, only about 1300 hours. I still do not have a VR 14 and I have only one character that has even reached level 50. I have not completed the Level 1-50 content for two of the Alliances. I do not have any level 50 crafters.

I have so much stuff left to do that my current impression is that I will never run out of things to do.

I think what kills it for me is no real repercussions. In skyrim and oblivion when you die to a boss you had to begin back at the beginning of the dungeon. Here, well just rez where you died and try again. The "suspense" of dying and resetting creates a lot of fun in this regard as you get a better sense of accomplishment, at least in my case. Again, here, you can simply rez through a whole dungeon till you get it.

Also quest choices have no real meaning, yes some npcs die or whatever but in the grand scheme it makes no difference. Again, in skyrim and oblivion, when you made evil choices the game recognized you as that, "infamous". The justice system only scratches the surface at this point.

I agree there is alot you can do to switch it up but everything has it flaws and once you experience those flaws it just adds and adds to the game.

I agree You can't compare ESO to other ES games due to that fact. But you can compare it to design and the entainment it provides.

Including rezzing anywhere in the world while questing or exploring. The cost to rez is so incredibly low that it isn't a bother to burn it repeatedly.

I walked around the other night looking for ore for about 40 minutes and I found ten spots and got 3 Ores from it, Also while searching I killed anything and everything and took all the equipment it had avaible so I could deconstruct and gain Exp and resoruces. I'm little over rank 3 in black smithing and level 2 almost 3 in clothing and tailoring, I cant figure out how to reseach anything yet I got stones for both armor and weapons traits but cant research anything..

I've grinded MOBs for equipment and Exp I've done 2 dungens I've tried PVP but got killed every time I encountered some one and when I say kill its more like turned to dust just by them looking at me!!! I dont know what more I can do to saalvage my joy fo the game.Besides GRIND and that sucks

I am not satisfied with the game in it's current state. I play, but nowhere near as much as I thought I would. Leveling is such a bore I can only handle it for a few hours. I have heard end game is a little more fun, so I am slowly working my way there.

It's just sad to wait for a game for so long and be so disappointed. I feel like I'm cheating myself if I just quit the game entirely. I'm waiting on some good news about something...any shred of hope the game will get better.

To address some of the points in your last post:

Research: To research a trait, you need to have an item that has that trait. So when you go back to the blacksmithing/clothing/woodworking station to deconstruct stuff, always check the "research" tab first and see if you can't research traits on those items instead of deconstructing them (research will destroy the item).

Research time doubles for each trait that you already know for an item, so now it may only take 6 hours, but soon it will take days to complete a research.

Harvesting is always a bit harder in the starter areas because there is a lot of competition. I don't usually go out harvesting specifically, but I have made a habit out of picking up everything I see.

Now, I don't know exactly what to tell you about being bored because I've been playing for a while and I still have trouble sometimes because I can't chose what I want to do (too much choice). But that's probably because I'm interested in many different aspects of the game.

What sorts of things are you interested in?

1 - 50 was one of the most enjoyable solo-content in a MMO I've ever had. Where they drop the ball is VR1 through end-game. Game becomes increasingly boring as you near VR14 and discover there's really nothing to do.

PVP is atrocious, and there's no reason to farm dungeons/trials for gear. Leaderboards are the "end-game content" that some get into. I hear it helps increase epeen size...

The things that interest me are PVE and Crafting and Story lines with Guilds Fighters and mages. I like doing things you can see progress in and that is why I enjoy RPGs more. I cant communicate much on there due to the fact that the times I play are when the Family is asleep, so makes it hard to PVP with friend or group.

I really like Crafting but like every one says there is so much you can do and learn almost at times of starting is overwhelming. But I love the concept behide ESO crafting with different races making the weapon looking different and so fourth. Just hate Grinding and Repeatingeverything just to barly do anything.

Crafting is cool and all, but completely useless for most new players, especially those on PC. Join a small to medium size guild that have master crafters. Unless you just enjoy crafting for achievement's sake, there's no effective reason to waste time crafting/filling bag space.

I'll be honest i don't quite understand these ESO is boring threads. I played Morrowind, Oblivion & Skyrim multiple times each, absolutely love them. I got this game preordered of Xbox live, and have been playing since i could. I put 2-3hrs a day in with even more on Sundays & i haven't even got off the first area except for going into Cyrodil for PvP. Mind you I have completed every quest i could find in Auridon, cleared every section, hunted all the skyshards and spend quite abit of time stealing from shops to deconstruct for mats to craft. If the game keeps going this way with all 3 factions to play i'm going to be kept interested for a long time.

A lot of games have grinds of one sort or another.

I don't grind for no purpose. If I am grinding, in any game, then what I get out of the grind is worth the grind. This is why I do not have a VR 14 and why I am not out farming CP. Neither of those things are goals that interest me at the moment. I am not actively working any characters up to VR 14 and I am not out collecting CP. The grind is not worth it.

The fact that I do not mindlessly grind is one reason that I have not progressed as far in the game as others have. I am actually too busy in the game right now doing something else and I don't have time for questing and leveling characters.

Your opinion. I don't happen to share it.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
