Yup, there's been word from zenimax. You just don't pay attention.

There will more than likely NEVER be a chat window like we have on PC. It'll be a better variation of the chat wheel more than likely. I'm not linking anything.

Maybe every person that wants Text Chat should put JUST ONE post in the "Ask Us Anything" thread?

Like: "Are consoles going to get the needed Text Chat Option? If so, when?"

I am NOT saying to spam the thread.
However, if enough INDIVIDUAL players asked the same question they might just answer it.

Just a thought.

I only have a browser on my PS4, so watching live streams is a "hit & miss" thing. (lol)
I think I found it...watching *soon.

Yea had worst experience grouping up for the last few days.

Been in about 10 different groups but nobody speaks at all. i cant even get people to come to me when i'm in the damn dungeon. When i finally get someone we don't even speak the same language...... over 10 groups where it just got disbanded as no one knows what they doing.

Not to mention how this will work once we start doing high end content...... We definitely need text chat. even worse in PVP

Are you on a EU server or US? that would make explaining this lot easier as i posted already been in over 10 groups in the last 4 days and no one even speaks and if they do we don't even speak the same laugauge...

I have come to find that alot of people who have posted on here have not even played the console version yet are are trolling cause i'm now at VR1 bearing in mind ive played the PC since launch and well aware of end game and how comms work. And its so broken its not even funny. I was doing a solo dungeon listening to a some other player watching batman.... completely ruined the immersion there my friend.

Can anyone who's watched this, please clarify exactly what was said? It's probably pointless to ask, but would be great to know their attitude regarding this and if they gave a definite "NO, never happening."

Because that sure changes things for me.

I was out doing some quests and then i heard a voice it was some teen chatting with his mom about home work ... i swear one guy was fapping and forgot his mic was plugged in and other non sensical garbage when im crafting. this voice chat thing they have is awfull, why would they take the txt chat out of an mmo ? its like the worst possible brain dead idea i ever seen in an mmo !! even warframe has a freaking chat box.

I just watched that 1.5 hour "thing" and....Text Chat wasn't mertioned.
All they said is they are fixing Voice Chat to save our settings.

If they don't implement text chat then this game will fail on console. Which will be a huge shame as I'm enjoying most things about it. Voice chat only just isn't working for the majority of the players and is more of a hindrance than anything else. One of the main things that keeps many mmo players playing when content dries up is the fact they have formed a bond with members of the community, which just wont happen without text chat.

Sums it up for me really. I'm not investing my Limited gaming time (and thousands of pounds over time) Into leveling toons to reach what is going to be a broken end game experience. I'm also eu and spent 4 years on an eu server in another mmo . All sorts of different languages on our servers but with chat boxes communication becomes possible. Just find this unbelievable I'm looking for confirmation and if I find it my sub will be cancelled instantly, guild mates will be informed and the disc will be sold. I expect alot of my crew to follow suit. I mean really 24 man dungeons and no chat ? Marvelous idea. Dcuo may have it's issues these days but never have the devs treated console players with such contempt if this is true. Everything PC had PS3 and 4 had aside from a combat analyzer which was added to PS in an update. Maybe come sole launch was just too boost balance sheets at hq

yeah switched back to FF14 too, Heavensward is awesome so far

I hope they reconsider their design on the ui, but so far the game is done on consoles, maybe 1 year until servers go offline.
the only people who spent "maybe" money on this game, are casuals who never played a MMORPG or only ES single player games, and that wont keep the game alive.

Now you have learned the lesson that when ZoS have decided something they stick to it no matter how stupid or strange it might appear to people with the humble gift of common sense. Sorry to say.

Where did they say that there will never be text chat for consoles? I've not seen it anywhere and I didn't hear that in the ESO Live broadcast.

I did hear them say in response to other questions: "Never say never." and in response to a question as to whether the AI difficulty for bosses would be different from that of the PC side they said that it was important to them that the game plays the same on both sides regardless of platform.

Well, my response to that is that if they want it to be the same, then we should get text chat just like the PC players have -- or if they genuinely believe that voice chat alone is satisfactory, they should remove it from the PC side and delete these forums and replace them with a voice chat room with thousands of people all screaming at once -- so that everyone can "enjoy" the experience that is currently on the console side. If they recognize that the latter is crazy and would destroy the game -- then why is that being forced on console players?

EVERY other console MMO has text chat, we need it too.

This guy gets it^ . The one thing that kept me playing the same game for years even when content was lacking was my guild. Guys I've been friends with for years. In dcuo when pvp was quiet we'd joke that we subbed just to run laps in the hall of doom and chat. I wasn't prepared for the social aspect of mmos when I first started playing one but it's a HUGE part of them and part of what makes them great. To be denied this makes me not want to bother investing in this

At that timestamp (39:44), they comment on M&KB input for the GAMEPLAY and state a squiggly, unclear answer that seems to imply that don't plan to add mouse and keyboard support to consoles for GAMEPLAY nor add controller to PC for GAMEPLAY.

At timestamp 43:07 they respond in regards to persistent chat option choices, i.e., we can leave Area chat once and forever and it will retain that setting.

There was no mention in regards to text communications. They did comment a few times that voice chat was controversial. They also commented at one point that floating damage numbers and UI buff timers were something that were being considered at one point, but also that they broke the 'Elder Scrolls feel' and weren't likely at another point.

Honestly, the single biggest break to the 'Elder Scrolls feel' to me is just other people existing. The random hordes bouncing around, trying to climb things, the thirty people ahead of me in an instance all in turn destroying a legendary artifact that I was supposed to destroy before I too destroyed it, having to wait for a quest item to respawn as dozens of other people rush in to grab it before me. Nothing breaks the 'Elder Scrolls feel' more than that. I don't see how better UI and communication features would make it any worse.

Anyway, there is no official "NO WAY NO HOW" statement. To the people saying to 'go find it', well, I don't see it. Maybe you should show us since you already know and could so easily stop this discussion.

How do you know that?Can you see the future?Whats the lottery number for tomorrow?If not how can you possible say that voice chat only isn't working for the majority of players?If your basing this off of the forums then your hypothesis is flawed since the voting pool is tainted with PC players.

I really wonder do anyone who are on the forums are actually playing the same game as me.If you can't form a bond with the console community then that's really your fault its not hard just talk to people.Its rather easy jest put yourself out their and you can find some good people out their.

Another thing if they add chat text the players who don't want it and turn it off will splits up the community even more between the ones who want a chat box and the the ones who want only voice.For me and others if we turn off the chat box then the players who only use chat box will be separate from the ones who do not want to use it.The community is already split up into 3 alliances adding a chat box will splinter the community even more between the ones who won't use it and the ones who will.

One last thing if you want the community to be strong and for the game to do will then lets build up a community in the game with what we have already. That won't happen by splitting the community into two groups. In my honest opinion anyone can disagree with me but I believe adding it will kill the game more then not having text chat by splitting the community into 2 the game will die even quicker.

community is already split ( in the worst part ) people who play koop with voice chat with 4 buddys and people who dont use it outside of dungeons and the people who disable it every time. That wont change, never, played enough MMORPGS to know that^^ At least in Europe, cant say for NA, this game has no communication outside of dungeons, so its not a real MMORPG.

But im sure at that point that Zenimax didnt make this game for MMORPG players, they made it for fans of the singleplayer games, with the little koop bonus. That Voice chat only doesnt work, reasons are all in this thread

And their is nothing wrong to play a game like this, if it would be right advertised, i mean if they had a not on Amazon where stands, this game only supports Voice chat, no mouse and keyboard support, i wouldnt have spent my money for example

But hey its 70 bugs more to work with for the developers !

Agree with Germal, community is already split and that will never change. It will only get worse from here, trust me. I have also played plenty of MMO's to know that.

In regard to everyone saying it's not that hard to build relationships and a community with voice chat, you're missing the whole point. Many of us don't want to talk on voice chat, plain and simple. Some others need text chat to effectively lead their guild. Others who have hearing disabilities need it in order to even play the game. It's a lot more than just "building a relationship" or a "community" or whatever the hell we want to call it.

And this...so much this. Not everyone followed the forums prior to the game coming out, and it was NEVER advertised that it would be voice chat only. I NEVER would have spent $80 on the digital Imperial Edition (that I can't return, btw) if I had known this would be the case.

Text chat just makes everything easier. Text chat made the first mmo I played on of the funnest games Ive ever played.
