Hello everyone, I recently got bit by a friend and normally I hear to get the quest you must go to a city and speak with an NPC. Instead, a portal opened and I walked right in, talked to Hircine and was told to kill one of the bosses which I did. Now I realize that I have a timer next to the disease so does that mean that I'm missing something or what? I would hate to loss this ability so quickly. I am on Console version of ESO so please can anybody help?

The timer is for the disease. It will just go away after about a week and do nothing. This is basically your timeframe to do the quest and become a werewolf. It has no meaning if you already are a werewolf
I have approximate knowledge of many things.

If you get infected by a mob then the quest starts by an NPC in town. If you get bitten at the shrine by another player the quest starts immediately, just pick up the scroll and jump in the portal. This is because the NPC explains the disease and cure to people who may not realize they picked it up from a mob, but if you're at the shrine your choice is already made.

Are you certain you got credit for completing the quest? Do you have the ww skill line and the ability to slot transformation as an ultimate. If so, you won't lose it when the timer runs down.
