I'm new, what would you recommend?

I like to play pretty much anything. I prefer medium armor, and wouldn't mind a 2H sword. If sorcerer is the way to go, I will chose that as well.
Any recommendations for a light armor class?

A medium-armour 2-handed sorcerer can be a great DPS and mobility build, especially in PvP. The Critical Surge ability increases your sheer power and heals you for each critical hit you deliver, making 2-handed's Critical Charge a powerful self-heal. It's also great for sheer power in general.

Dragon Knight is the easiest/best way to enter the game. It works with all armor types, all weapon types, the class skills are so well rounded (too well rounded honestly) you can do anything pretty well and it is actually really fun to use.
It highly recommended if this is your first play through.
You can literally throw a bunch of skills on your bar with any race and go to town in PvE safely.
PvP... well, might wanna hold off on that.

you cannot go wrong with a bosmer(Woodelf) NB,

Bow and 2H,
7 pieces medium armour,

Then you can join the hated community of NB cookie cutter builds.
