We Need Faction Changes and We Need Them Now

PvP is a wasteland. DC is basically dead, AD is quickly losing players to other games and EP is still the most populated, but they will leave too once there is no one left to fight. I've had many people tell me they'd play DC if faction changes were introduced, but they aren't willing to grind up a new character- especially since mob XP got nerfed.

In order to prevent this from becoming a total ***show, it should be for *one* character per account, and *one* time only. Please don't put this in the crown store. We're trying to save the game here.

I find it unlikely people would change faction, because of the many friends they probably made doing pve dungeons and trials etc

But i did notice a lot of my pvp guild members are playing other games like alma3 , i guess not many will make it to the rank of general because they just stopped playing
I watched some old pvp video's from last july and august and only a few names are still active in cyro now

I agree. Faction change wouldn't really solve anything in my opinion. What AD and EP need to realize is that they are partly to blame for causing DC players to stop PvPing. If you just keep dominating everything all the time over and over again because you have such massive numbers, do you really expect the normal DC players to stick around? Your ruthlessness in capturing everything at all costs and crushing smaller groups before they can even get out of their home gate is partly to blame I say.

I'd switch a character for sure, even if I had to pay for it. I've started like 4 DC characters now, gotten them to 10 and just given up because even 1-50 is painful. I don't want to think about vet ranks.

Faction should be an option in general. A great fix would be to insentivise the PvP faction choice process by offering rewards that increase with faction pop disparity.

I was kind of counting on that, actually. Faction changes would benefit the PvP community, but if everyone wanted to switch to DC, then we'd have the same problem as before- only with DC being the mega faction. Regular PvErs not wanting to switch serves as a check so we can maintain balance.

Offering faction changes won't solve anything when the big guilds that are left on one faction mostly switch factions the zerg follows to the new faction, happen when a lot switched from ad to ep in the past when ep asked for help, a faction change would just make that easier

DC seems to do well on nonvet, I guess they never want to graduate to vet? I'm working on a DC character myself, currently level 22.

Over the past month I have met sooo many cool Ep and Ad people who are rerolling DC or working hard to grind dc toons. Too many to list but a few are xylena, Peggy, Mojican, Arcane...

But these people strike me as the type to not need a high school clique, more independent minded and more concerned about the health of the game than they are in dominating and running around bragging and beating their chests and looking for ego stroking. They have shown real hutzpah in stepping outside the comfort zone of their OP'd faction and meeting new people on DC side and making new friends. Ep just needs more people with that mindset and an option to change factions could work.

Yes, please. I recently switched and have been leveling a Templar. The grind is horrendous but I'd rather not sit on my thumbs and wait for something that may never happen.

With XP pots, and further reduction of XP targets of Vet Levels, it is getting an easier and easier grind to roll an alt.

Not to mention with the proposed changes to Battle Leveling ( moderate VR14 scaling for *any* non-VR14 toon ) also make a quick and promising ticket to jump into premium battle. I know I'll be testing my lowbies and mini-vr's with this.

Well that's why I am saying an instant faction change could work if more ep had their mindset.

A 'mercenary' system might work better. You could switch sides in Cyrodiil, and only in Cyrodiil. That way, your PvE quest progression would remain intact.

the problem with this it is that people who don't have imperial edition don't have the eligibility to make different races on different factions. So if you have a darkelf on ep and want to go dc you cant since you dont have that race change. You know what i mean? But i agree we need this now in-game but should pay for it

I was not seriously suggesting Imperials be the only ones to faction-hop as Mercenaries. As lore-mongering as some people are around here, I really doubt they'd deny anyone to Merc regardless of pointy ears/tails.

Except Orcs.

If they were worried about too many transfers, they could just put a limit on the number of transfers allowed. See how that works, then open it up later for more if it is deemed necessary.

People need to stop being lazy. If they can play 18+ hours a day like most do, then they can grind a character up. Grinding 1-50 can be done now in a day with xp pots. And veteran ranks can be done with 2 xp pots per level and done within an hour. You can probably get from lvl 1 to vr14 with 2-3 days. Stop being lazy and make the change if you're that annoyed with EP being overpopulated.

That's easy for someone to say, when they play 12+ hours a day.

For normal people that have jobs and responsibilities, it's not realistic to think they have more than 3 hours per day to play. Even then, you're claiming they need to play under perfect conditions, Cracked Wood Cave duo, with XP pot, to achieve this time. It's just kind of crap, and it takes the average player a lot, lot longer than you claim.

The time investment isn't even the most difficult part, it's the mind-numbing boringness of it. You can only grind goblins for so many hours before your determination starts to waver. It's just not reasonable to expect people to grind mobs over and over for 50+ hours just to get a viable character in another faction.

Snit's mercenary idea is the best solution i've heard tossed around. Minimal changes, make it come at some huge cost (1 million ap ?) if you like.

They should allow faction changes, but lock the most populated one. AKA you can transfer your character off EP but no one can transfer too EP.

I play 3-4 hours in the evening these days, with an alliance rank 36 main. Reroll ing an entire guild, getting v14 and earning those ranks again is an insane time sink.

but I'd pay to transfer and would help sponsor cost for the guild in a heartbeat

I am getting demoralized by this XP grind to get to v14 on my dc

at v4 im just... fodder. mostly because of the build i plan to run (its totally not viable until v12+ but i tend to level what i need and use similar sets early to get a feel and some experience first)

But whenever i go to actually level up... i cant stay in the saddle and end up logging out or doing something else. the vet grind is BS, i had so much more drive six months ago when i leveled my fourth v14, now i have none

I didnt even see it, but I am by virtue of my multifactional nature, already a merc. But yes the game needs a built in way to support this beyond just having toons in all factions
