ESO - Best MMO launch I have ever been a part of...

Agreed this seemed a lot smoother than I expected. There's been entirely too much negativity heaped upon this game. I remember the headache that vanilla WoW caused.

I don't see how you can compare WOW to this? WOW had 10X the people this game had on 2 different consoles and or PC/MAC. Being WOW was new at the time there was just no way anyone at Blizzard could have expected what they ran into.

Also you have Blizzard to thank for where servers are at now for MMO's. But you also have EQ, AC, EVE ect all have helped make the MMO area what it is today. Like any game ZoS had the numbers on box sales, but just never dreamed what was going to happen on live day. This isn't an indie game and thank you ZoS for that.

    It's simple

    ESO > WoW.

    There, I compared them. :p

Dont thank ZoS so soon, you'll hate them in time. such as when they havent fixed your progress blocking quest preventing you form advancing in the game. Itll be fixed in about 3 months. Its OK we wont judge you for joining the rest of the community in our disappointment in ZoS for stone walling and cold shoulders, even on the simple things.

I don't feel this way about ZOS, but if I did, my response would be simple: cancel subscription, delete the game and move on. I'm not sure why anyone would harbor such animosity for a company and their product and continue to use it? I seriously do not understand this mindset. Can someone explain to me why so many on this forum clearly state animosity and even hostility toward ZOS, yet still bother to spend time not only playing the game but posting on the forum?

The impression people get from forums does get skewed. People usually post during launch because they are having a problem, the ones who are not having a problem are playing.

Fortunately, ZOS has identified the major issues and are working on them. Unfortunately, it just can't happen in one or two days, because they need to make sure the fix does not break something else, as has happened before. I think they recently rolled out patch to fix some of the things, so progress is being made.

People are just as mad on other forums (NeoGaf, Gamefaqs, the PS official ones). ZoS had a year and some change to get the console versions in order and literally every bug that exists in the PC version and even some that have been stamped out shipped with the game.

If you think this was a "smooth" MMORPG launch (relaunch, really), then you haven't been around the block all that much. ARR had a much better launch than this. At least everything, including group finder, worked from day 1. They also rebuilt the entire game and its regions and didn't just slap a flashy UI over all of the issues.

No one said there werent better launches genius. Reading Comprehension, its your friend.

Its the cool thing to do. They have nothing better to do because they rushed to end-game and now they spend their time complaining on the forums. They want things NAOW and if ZOS doesnt give it to them NAOW they stomp their feet and pretend as if theyre going to quit.

Probably can think of a few more.

So... I've played GuildWars... WoW... SWTOR... Destiny... Tera... Firefall...

And don't get me started on any EA games on launch day....

By far this has been the BEST launch for an MMO that I have been a part of... I mean I was actually able to play on day one... Destiny... it took nearly a week before I could get in... WoW... lol don't make me laugh... good luck doing anything on launch day...

As long as I'm not getting any Centipede or Baboon errors constantly... I'm pretty happy with it.

Yeah you paid your 90$... yeah you demand better service!... but guess what... so did millions of other people and they are all trying to log in at the exact same time you are... welcome to the world of massively multiplayer online gaming.

So please... if you hate it THAT much... take it back... that is one less person the rest of us have to deal with trying to sign in at the same time... and if a million of you are that upset about it... then we'll ALL be happier people.

Good job Bethesda and Zenimax... you guys deserve a medal for how well this is going.

I know you're being sarcastic.. ESO had one of the longest login queues
    I'm outta here

Absolutely Hilarious. Questing works and very well. PVP cannot even get on to the training session. Too many players not enough Campaigns and nothing being done. Gave up on PVP.

Am I being sarcastic? I've sat in queue for WoW on multiple occasions where the queue was 8 or 9 hours...

I've never waited more than 20 minutes to get into ESO.

Yeah this was soooo much better than the PC launch haha

Apparently I'm the only one who had zero issues at PC launch.

No not alone. I had no problems except 4 minor quests behaving weird in the third normal zone of EP.
The nasty stuff from ZOS began coming about 2 months after launch.

Console launch? Then yes, it went decent.

PC launch? No, that was probably one of the worst I have been apart of going back over 10 years. This however, is very subjective; just because one person has an issue doesn't mean the next one will.

I am an experienced MMO gamer and as such, good and bad launches are my expectation. Some are smooth, others; not so much. Overall, the game was good at launch for PC and only became better, which is why I stuck around.
  • Headberg2174
Are you for real? You must be one of the lucky ones because I have not played since Launch. As I write this I have been on the load screen for 10 minutes!!!! It has been a week and they still have problems! I paid for a game and I can't even play it!

I heard different BUT never played it myself so you could be right.

The OP is used to a lot of MMORPG launches (as am I) so compared to every other I've been a part of this one was the smoothest.

For the first time last night the queue actually showed me numbers other than 1 and 0! It was great!

Still only took me 6 minutes to get. It was pretty cool.

I wish people would understand this was not a launch.
This was just a late release of a game that launched over a year ago.

Do not compare this to actual launch days.
They have had this ready for nearly 6 months and it was still crappy with the exact same problems we PC players identified for them at the actual Launch.

Yup they just copy pasted the PC version to xbone and ps4. Yup, that's how code and network architecture work. Yup.

Just in case this is necessary (sarcasm)

yeah they didn't copy and paste the game, just the bugs!

Funny, I was about to post that the OP forgot ARR which had an appalling launch. Even those coming in a month after launch had to wait another week or two before they could actually play. If you stayed up till 5am you had a chance you might be able to log onto a server to create a char. But if you did that don't expect to actually be able to log in again because the servers were rammed.

Now, that said, Rift had the smoothest launch I can remember.

Granted I wasn't able to log in on the midnight release which hasn't happened in a quick minute for me, but I would agree the launch was better than most at least. The thing that stood out most was the patch on day 2 or 3 that seemed to fix most of the lag and connection issues for me.

This games launch has been far from perfect, I've experienced better
Many people had problems with FF XIV on consoles but it ran flawlessly for me unlike this
Anyways time to run before I get ranted at for my experiences
