For the record they got it out eventually lol It was by that one village where the lava is seeping out of the ground. They had about 4-5 people pick it up, then die shortly afterward upon picking it up. Was pretty funny

Actually, that is done by some people on purpose occasionally in order to farm all the other factions that come running for it.
Not sure if that was the case here, but expect to see it happen.

Yeah that is an handy trick to do when out numbered or just farm ap, have done that myself.

So long has one person goes to try to get it and touches it for a few seconds it won't reset

The requirement to loot a scroll should be vr14 + ar10. I'm sure some trolls would still find a way to do something like this. It's crazy the amount of people I see looting a scroll who aren't ready to run it all the way back. It's like a regular thing now. Someone get the scroll and then clear the keep where it was taken, repair walls, etc. 5mins later, he feels too lazy to run in back and suicide so someone else can pick it. Or the person will eventually run to slaughterfish or lava on the way back because he doesn't wanna run it all the way back. Like what ? Feels like people only loot them to see their name flashing on the screen but aren't ready to bring it back home, shameful.

ZOS should add reset fences around lava and slaughterfish infested waters so that if the scroll passes into such an area and is dropped it resets to the point of entry. For example, running a scroll into a slaughter fish infested lake would reset the scroll back to the shoreline when the runner dies.

Using the lava is actually really good tactic I've used before.

If you are running the scroll back, and you are getting overwhelmed by 40+ enemies and you know that you're 10 man group is going to wipe, you can drop it in the lava, respawn and ride back and continue where you left off. There is actually a really easy way to get the scroll out of the lava which no one seems to know about, and no it's not an exploit. Takes me like 5 seconds to grab the scroll out of the lava and continue on my way again.

OP, they did it on purpose, because the waves of AD falling in across their caltrops gave them 100k ap or so for the time it was there

They kept picking it up and dying to reset the 5 minute ground reset timer.

TL;DR: AD got trolled, hard.
