Player Creations Made Into Real Game Material.

So, valve does this with Team Fortress 2. They take community made creations, and put them into the game (Or at least a few)

So what if ZM did? I mean their big sister Bethesda, allows for the creation of mods into the Main series, they even hand out a creation set for it.

What "if" ZM passed out a creator as well, that allowed us to create models and other things for characters, textures etc. Perhaps even using pre-existing models, textures, items etc.

But not inject them into the game of course, as not only would that be impossible, but if able, could be very problematic.
But rather we could post them in a thread or board showing them off. Every few months, ZM could take a look at the best ones, tweak them, edit them, give them a ZM feel, make them feel more lore friendly, and then place them in game where they see fit.

Perhaps even give some kind of token to the player who created it.

Would give the community some more creativity and influence over Tamerial and give ZM a hand.

Of course, like stated, ZM would pick the best, have all rights over the content, and use it how they see fit.

First off... ESO doesn't have nor supports mods, almost no MMO i know of does. Addons are not mods, they are completely seperate entities.
Mods can change core files of the game and it wouldn't work as all the files have to be identical for everyone and it gets synced with the server. If 1 mod was to be used, it would have to be server wide and enforced upon everyone.. Which is a nono in a MMO.
    Sometimes, I dream about...cheese...

Dermont - v16 Pompous Altmer Sorcerer (With a very arrogant face!)
Egonieser - v16 Nord Stamina Dragonborn Wannabe
Endoly - v16 Tiny Redguard Sharpened MaceBlade
Egosalina - v16 Breton Cheesus Beam Specialist
Egowen - v16 Dunmer Whipping Expert (Riding crops eluded her)
(Yes, I had to grind all these to v16)
Akamanakh - lvl 22 Khajiit GankBlade (Inspired by Top Cat)
Targos Icewind - lvl 34 Imperial (Future) Jabplar
    (CP 830+)

    PC - EU

You are indeed correct, I have changed the title to "Creations" instead of MODs. Although I never compared addons to them, I also had stated they could not be injected or put into the game, they would just give us a creator that allowed us to create models and such using pre-existing assets or editing.

And you must not of played many MMOs, as a ton of MMOs I know and have played, take community content from time to time and put it in-game. Of course, lore edited and changed a bit, but still quite recognizable.

Smaller MMOs, from Tibia, which my name comes from, to even giants such as World of Warcraft. (They have taken player made ideas and creations quite a few times).

There are MMOs who have player created quests using a sandbox system and all the stuff already in the game. There are more who don't. I can see the draw as well as the problems... for ESO, this is not even considered at this point. But who knows, maybe someday... still, there are years worth of content I'd want first, before they even start thinking about this kind of stuff...

It was an idea, of course not intended to replace the upcoming update.

This, I believe, is actually the future of mmo's in particular. UGC overviewed by devs for quality control etc. boosting content in games. No developer can keep up with the fans of a series, especially if it's popular!

I agree completely. Many MMOs have been going this route, and I think a series like the Elder Scrolls who mastered it for Single Player, can do really well adapting it to MMO.

Only if the makers of MMOs get smart enough to realize it.

I think it'd be more interesting to host an art/design contest to see to see what players come up with. Winner gets to work/communicate their idea with the ZOS artists/designers to make sure it best fits the in-game world and theme, but... I think that'd be kickass.

And if you stop to think about it, Undaunted is pretty much TF2. It's all just about hats... =D

Except that it is. It's an Elder Scrolls game by name.

Even if not by development team.

I agree, there should be other methods allowed.

But drawing out a boss is not for everyone. I can't exactly hold a pen steadily, rather than able to move a mouse.

And some people just aren't able to utilize words in a picturesque way.

Perhaps still a tool set that allows the creation, while allowing drawings as well for those not tech-able, and those with the inability to draw.
