Soul magic is leveled via main story/harborage quests ^.^

The skill lines themselves gain based on the same, but are multiplied by the number of skills from the line you have on said bar.
(If you have 3 skills from Destruction staff, and one each from two other lines, Destro Skill line will go up three times as fast.)
You can also get bonus points for traits that will cause armor/weapon lines to advance faster. (Training)
Quirk: You can have any skill on your active bar, even if it's not one you can use at the moment and it will still advance. This is useful towards L50 when you have your primary skills maxed and want to advance alternate skills. Simply pick a spare spot (even one at a time) and place the skill on the bar.
For example, you can have Healing Springs on your bar when you have a Dual wield weapon setup. Though you won't be able to use the skill in combat, it will still increase until it's maxed.
Also a good idea (especially when your skills become maxed) to have a 'Quest turn in' skill/gear set. (You can do this easily with Wykkyd's outfitter/macros) to get the most bang for your buck. You can have alternate armor weight's you don't normally use once your get to max on your normal setup.)
Caveat: Don't forget to change back to your original gear/skills or expect to rez.
@Ace-2112 , all good. You can still swap them out manually and swap them back after. It just takes a little longer, that's all.LOVE your post!
Just one leeeettle thing...at the end you mention add-ons...none for us True-Noobs...unfortunately.
