PC is obvious since you have your keyboard.
This argument about it not working so well on consoles are moot. The consoles have the ability to use a virtual keyboard that can be used via the controller. More so, any old keyboard can be plugged into the Consoles. Theres also keyboard adaptors for controllers.
Enough with the 'it just wont work because its not a PC'......Do people not understand that Xbox1 and the PS4 are computers in themselves?
In all fairness, there isn't an argument to be won here. It's a matter of taste in the direction & feel of the game as a whole now, & going forward. Adding text chat changes the game. People who are enjoying the game the way it is may not want it to become `Cookie Cutter MMO #253'. People may not want a giant text pane taking up 1/4 of their screen. People may be interestef in the social experiment that is voip only communication.
Everyone has their reason. Deep down, all of those reasons are self serving.
Anyone pretending otherwise is deceiving you, &/or themselves.
Anywho, I vote no text. And of course, those reasons are for the financial gain of the company & for the good of the community & humanity & to save the dolphins.
So listen to me Zeni, I gots integrity & have everyone's best interest in mind.
Options - text chat - on/off. Problem solved.
There is no problem because there is no text chat. Let's keep it that way.
Turning off text in Cyro, if it were a feature, puts you at a disadvantage. I don't want to be at a disadvantage & I don't want a chat pane taking up screen real estate.
My reason is more valid to me than yours, because it's mine. Therefore, no text. Ever. You want text, go play a MUD.
If you don't want text chat because in pvp you will be at a disadvantage then that's your own fault, voice chat in pvp is proximity so far away you will never hear anything. having chat on will give a new level of communication which IMO is VERY MUCH NEEDED in pvp right now to even know where people are fighting, and to turn that off would be your own fault and unwillingness to be part of a greater community.

Exactly my point. I won't be at a disadvantage, playing how I like, as long as there is no text. And yes, I understand what text chat would do in PvP. It will promote large scale zerg PvP. As if this game needs more of that. I prefer smaller scale, roving PvP, which is better preserved with the voip only platform.
I've been playing PC MMOs for the better part of 2 decades. I know exactly what I'm asking for when I say, leave communicae as is.
Good luck with your petition, though.

But without communication pvp will turn into a zerg fest, because no one will know where to go so you all group up and blob around the map, with text chat you could at least make plans etc but when there's no chat you just all move to the closest castle to attack and never separate, VOIP will not stop zerging, people zerg because it's easy and that's what ps4 players will do because it will be easy as there's no option to do anything else
And i joined a trade guild and there's like 30 people in chat omg its insane when they all speak and make noises, how are guilds supposed to communicate if its either quiet or too many people in chat, it reminds me of eve online team speak lol.
If people don't like listening to voice spam how can they possibly be in an ESO guild where that's the only option?
The european part of this assertion is so true, taken apart I don't consider myself living in a third world country lol.At least, on european server, noone has the region voice chat active it seems.
Bad for a MMO, thats why we need textchat.
Yeah, the problem is that unlike in America, where everyone speaks American (except for working class which speaks Mexican), in third world countries like Europe indigenous people do not speak American, they do not even speak same non-American, and as a result they may prefer to switch voice chat off.

@Uviryth thats not true, on PS4 are some good MMORPGS, best example FF14, ESO is the only MMORPG on console that lacks organized communication, and all the defenders of voice chat is enough, i dont know, download the trial version of FF14 on PSN, give it a shot and you will see its a huge difference from a UI point of view. Text chat is needet
