Can't interact with players

So i got the game a couple days ago and have been loving playing but for some reason i can't seem to get the interact with player feature to work. When i hold down Options button nothing happens not sure if it's my controller because my options button works fine when i just need to bring up the menu and it works in all my other games so maybe i am doing something wrong? i tried doing it with friends and non-friends also , also how important is this feature can i do without it i just don't want to drop $60 on a controller for no reason.

Sharakor✭✭✭If you mean the circle that comes up in which you can trade, whisper, invite to group ext. then I've had the same problem a few times before. Mostly during battle, maybe you can't use it when in combat?0
