The problem isn't just you sometimes can't hear what people are saying, hearing impairment often comes with sensitivity problems too, so people are either too quiet, or too loud. It would be impossible for me to play this game without text chat, at the best, it would be very uncomfortable. Just one of the smaller reasons I want absolutely nothing to do with any game Zenimax produces now or in the future.

Please share how many games allow for text chat on console? Battlefield, Call of Duty, Madden, FIFA, Xbox party? Stop being so soft on yourself. Many games do not have text chat or offer subtitles. I don't know why so many people are crying for this option. I bet blind people are pissed to....

What possible need would any of those games have for text chat?

    Agreed. Different genre/style of play.

I have to agree with Zyrlux. It's a game, not a public utility and the company is not under any obligation to produce a game that's able to be played by the hearing impaired, or the blind, or the mobility impaired, etc. They get to choose their market, and they've obviously made their choice that the cost/benefit analysis does not favor creating a text chat for the console version of the game.

There's just not enough interaction to warrant it. In an MMO, which is all about player interaction, it's just plain stupid not to include it.

Definitely a troll since FFXI has been around since 2002 and FFXIV had the first version which was a complete failure that was then reborn as FFXIV:ARR so any FF fan would have known an MMO has existed for over a decade lol.

@Sallington Eh, I get what you're trying to say, but you presented it incorrectly. There's plenty of player interaction in a FPS. However, that is fast-paced, in-your-face, non-stop combat. There's no sitting around discussing crafting, dungeons, leveling, etc.

In a MMORPG, it's text chat is definitely needed for these and many other reasons.

This effects more people than just the hearing impaired. Read my last reply at the bottom of the first page it will go into detail why successful gaming companies support all types of gamers. I even went at it from a business perspective.

I'll never understand why people defend companies who continue to give us less content...

In 2015 shouldn't we have expectations for MMORPG's? I mean I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy XIV showed us what is capable on a console...and that should be the MINIMUM requirement

People seem to really enjoy getting sold a half working game and then being charged for DLC. It's crazy. I've seen that mindset much more on consoles, but PC isn't clean of those people either.

IT's like, just because the game was hyped up, and they are told that the game is awesome by the people who made it, the defend it no matter what just because they bought it. People give suggestions on how to improve it, and they call you entitled or start an argument about something ridiculous. MY favorite is the "get a job" argument when you bring up how a $15 DLC is a ripoff for what should have been in the game in the first place.

There are many things wrong with your comment but this analogy is the icing on the cake.

People buy CD players to hear music, wich gets pretty much impossible being deaf.
People buy games to play them.
Playing a game is (usually) not impossible due to hearing disabilties (they make things harder though). These people obviously want to enjoy the game they bought as much as they can. To enjoy a MMO to the fullest most people want to interact with other players, wich these customers are unable to at the moment on console. They now come to the forums to make the proposition to ZOS to help them, wich probably would even help ZOS ( buying customers = money ).

Now you come in and attack their reasonable propsal as "bitching for others" to cater to their needs. While they obviously argue in their own interest it seems quite apparent (to me) that they only propse a way of improving the game to make their experience more enjoyable wich is pretty much the same as asking for content, weapon dying or similar features that improve the game and would (probably) boost sales.

Additionally the desicion to buy a console over a PC is based on many aspects (controls, available games, etc. ) and it seems quite arrogant to me to assume they were aware of ESOs chat options when they decided to buy a console over a PC .

Here's the thing. You want to communicate. Sweet. That's dandy. Unfortunately, you have a physical disability that prevents that from happening via normal methods. Okay. That's understandable. But why is anyone other than you responsible for overcoming your shortcomings?

Let me make a purchasing choice that I may not get the full experience of because I want it.

That's your call but don't expect an item that doesn't come with it's own keyboard to cater to people who prefer keyboards. It comes with a headset. Know why? Cause it's designed for voice chat. Didn't stop you.

So what's the argument for not playing PC. Don't have a good enough computer? But are you going to *** to bethesda that it's their fault that you aren't receiving the full experience of the game because of difficulties on your end? ie not having the money for a good gaming PC?

You win the entitlement prize. You also win the insensitive *** prize.

Since I feel you might not get why you're a ***, consider this: an audio CD can be experienced in exactly one way -listening. Communications in a game can be either audio or text, and text support requires little development effort (especially given that it's already baked into the PC client).

    Funny thing..

I play with a headset so my growing senile mother does not ask constantly about all the voices coming from my room. I play a few hours a day with the headset on my desk. You dont really need audio to play this game, PC or console version. It just makes it richer and more interesting.

FULL CREDIT for this post goes to XENDYN

This post is in regards to DEAF/HEARING IMPAIRED PS4/XBOX ONE players....which is a post that has NOT been created yet.

What about the deaf and hearing impaired? Are they not allowed to play Elder Scrolls Online because the game is restricted to only those that can communicate verbally with other players? That's pretty pathetic...if that is the case. So what's an excellent reason for implementing TEXT CHAT? How about your player base that can't speak/hear? Do you not want them to buy your game? Final Fantasy XIV and Neverwinter already have an EXCELLENT text chat system...so do not say that it does not work or people won't be able to read the chat box....when it's already been PROVEN to work!

Play the PC version if you want to so badly have a chat system. For console, that is something they will add in time sure; but not a main focus and no offense, but it shouldn't be.

Thanks for saving me the time of typing that. I have found that most people are not using voice chat anyways. I think that is partly an issue with the voice feature being messed up in game and not being available.

Navy it is not because of any "Issue with the voice feature being messed up" It is because nobody can hear/understand anything people are saying due to the flood of Music/Screaming/Everyone talking at the same time.

This system is flawed and was nice in concept to make the game feel like you walked into a crowded area, but the thing is there is no way for the system to compensate for DISTANCE in the game. If you are standing 5 feet from someone trying to talk to you.. You cannot hear them over the person 500 feet away BREATHING !

    LOL System is a fail.
At least give us "Sane" people a way to communicate and enjoy a decent MMO and let the rest of the community enjoy the mess that is public voice chat is all I am asking for.

Because the console kiddies may put the game down or trade it in, which will result in zero crown sales. :)
