It would be impossible for me to play this game without text chat, at the best, it would be very uncomfortable. Just one of the smaller reasons I want absolutely nothing to do with any game Zenimax produces now or in the future.
Please share how many games allow for text chat on console? Battlefield, Call of Duty, Madden, FIFA, Xbox party? Stop being so soft on yourself. Many games do not have text chat or offer subtitles. I don't know why so many people are crying for this option. I bet blind people are pissed to....
What possible need would any of those games have for text chat?

Agreed. Different genre/style of play.

There's just not enough interaction to warrant it. In an MMO, which is all about player interaction, it's just plain stupid not to include it.

It's a game, not a public utility and the company is not under any obligation to produce a game that's able to be played by the hearing impaired, or the blind, or the mobility impaired, etc. They get to choose their market, and they've obviously made their choice that the cost/benefit analysis does not favor creating a text chat for the console version of the game.
I'll never understand why people defend companies who continue to give us less content...
In 2015 shouldn't we have expectations for MMORPG's?

People seem to really enjoy getting sold a half working game and then being charged for DLC. It's crazy. I've seen that mindset much more on consoles, but PC isn't clean of those people either.
IT's like, just because the game was hyped up, and they are told that the game is awesome by the people who made it, the defend it no matter what just because they bought it.
I hope they add that, there tons of people would rather type then use mic.
1- People who play at night.

Would you buy a CD player and then *** to the company that you can't hear it cause you are deaf? No. Why? Because that's *** ***. There are some things you can't do and, yes, it is unfortunate for you, it's not other people's responsibility to cater to you and your disability
So they are responsible for your purchasing choices, is that right?
Here's the thing. You want to communicate. Sweet. That's dandy. Unfortunately, you have a physical disability that prevents that from happening via normal methods. Okay. That's understandable. But why is anyone other than you responsible for overcoming your shortcomings?

There is a version of this game that is available with text chat. Go play it if you want to play this game. Unfortunately, consoles on a whole are meant for the majority. The people with all five senses in tact. PCs offer a TON of options for the disabled. But YOU were the one responsible for saying...Know what? I'd rather buy a console. Let me make a purchasing choice that I may not get the full experience of because I want it.
That's your call but don't expect an item that doesn't come with it's own keyboard to cater to people who prefer keyboards. It comes with a headset. Know why? Cause it's designed for voice chat. Didn't stop you.
So what's the argument for not playing PC. Don't have a good enough computer? But are you going to *** to bethesda that it's their fault that you aren't receiving the full experience of the game because of difficulties on your end? ie not having the money for a good gaming PC?

FULL CREDIT for this post goes to XENDYN
This post is in regards to DEAF/HEARING IMPAIRED PS4/XBOX ONE players....which is a post that has NOT been created yet.
What about the deaf and hearing impaired? Are they not allowed to play Elder Scrolls Online because the game is restricted to only those that can communicate verbally with other players? That's pretty pathetic...if that is the case. So what's an excellent reason for implementing TEXT CHAT? How about your player base that can't speak/hear? Do you not want them to buy your game? Final Fantasy XIV and Neverwinter already have an EXCELLENT text chat system...so do not say that it does not work or people won't be able to read the chat box....when it's already been PROVEN to work!
So they are responsible for your purchasing choices, is that right?

Thanks for saving me the time of typing that. I have found that most people are not using voice chat anyways. I think that is partly an issue with the voice feature being messed up in game and not being available.
They can all join us on PC.

The more I see from people NOT wanting chat box for console the more I think it is a desperate PC players trying to salvage a community that is leaving in droves because of all the bots on PC lol.
There is NO reason for console not to have a chat box. I mean it is not like console players are asking for the REMOVAL of the voice chat. If that was the case I could understand people not wanting to see that.
But it is childish "or desperate" for anyone to NOT want people to be able to enjoy the game on console.
Funny how most of the "No chat box" TROLLS are always dropping that one liner..
"If you want a chat box come join us on PC"
lmao ..
Sad..

And it still went to console without text.....why would it make a difference after the fact if it didn't matter before release?
