What about the DEAF & HEARING IMPAIRED players? Do you care about them?

This post is in regards to DEAF/HEARING IMPAIRED PS4/XBOX ONE players....which is a post that has NOT been created yet.

What about the deaf and hearing impaired? Are they not allowed to play Elder Scrolls Online because the game is restricted to only those that can communicate verbally with other players or those that don't need subtitles? That's pretty pathetic...if that is the case. So what's an excellent reason for implementing TEXT CHAT? How about your player base that can't speak/hear? Do you not want them to buy your game? Final Fantasy XIV and Neverwinter already have an EXCELLENT text chat system...so do not say that it does not work or people won't be able to read the chat box....when it's already been PROVEN to work!

This is an excellent point, and one that I hope pushes them to implement a chat system for consoles.

While I'm indifferent to the console version of the game, I can understand where you're coming from. Hopefully they do implement a chat system that doesn't require a headset sort of thing.

That being said, ZeniMax as a whole have bigger fish to fry, so to speak, so don't hold your breath.

I hope they add that, there tons of people would rather type then use mic.

1- People who play at night.
2- People that English us their 2nd or 3rd language.
3- People who have issues with spelling.
    4- People with social disorder.

There no excuses to not add text chat, you don't want to see it? Just turn it off like local mic, I think.
If you can't afford 10 dollar usb keyboard? What are you doing spending 400 on console and 60 on game and of course 50-60 on xbox/psn sub, and last not least ISP services.

    This though.

But I think the strongest case for implementing text chat for console users is to provide an equal playing experience for the deaf community.

Yes, back when they were never going to stray from the subscription model, because that's the model they would need to provide the frequency of content updates and quality support they promised.

I don't play this game anymore but felt the need to comment on this subject. I was a PC player and have hearing impairment. It wasn't so much an issue due to the text chat of course. I realised that when no chat option was available on console that they basically excluded a whole bunch of people from the game because they have hearing impairment, or are completely deaf. The problem isn't just you sometimes can't hear what people are saying, hearing impairment often comes with sensitivity problems too, so people are either too quiet, or too loud. It would be impossible for me to play this game without text chat, at the best, it would be very uncomfortable. Just one of the smaller reasons I want absolutely nothing to do with any game Zenimax produces now or in the future.

I really appreciate you replying to the post and sharing your own experiences. You are correct that there are also a multitude of other reasons why someone would prefer a text chat system. I don't think the Devs took all of this into consideration. Hopefully it will be addressed soon.

Hmm, I have to admit I don't really understand this one, because you can turn the voice chat off when you're questing and looking for immersion can't you?

Having said that, I wholeheartedly agree that a text chat option should be there for consoles. For me people with hearing disabilities or speech impediments are reason enough for this. The other reasons people have given in this thread are all good reasons too, but less important to my mind.

Of course, I'd also like an option to choose different colours for the red circles/cones that indicate where you're going to be taking damage. Red works fine for me, but a friend of mine who plays the game is colour blind and never knows when he's in the red.

Well I doubt it will get addressed. Its not like they haven't thought about this. At some point in the past, someone said "what about people with hearing impairment or are deaf, they'd need text chat"? And someone else has said "nah, don't bother, too much hassle".

Probably. I think what happens is they get tied up in something else...and push things off to the side. Then after the game is released in interviews they say "Well we decided not to do that because it wouldn't be beneficial to our player base for these reasons....". But in reality it's because they simply chose to put more time and resources into something else....or saw that they could save time by cutting it out completely. Either way it's bad....because the Devs are either saying they're oblivious to their customers needs or that they cut content out for some reason that probably has to do with saving time/money.

So they are responsible for your purchasing choices, is that right?

Here's the thing. You want to communicate. Sweet. That's dandy. Unfortunately, you have a physical disability that prevents that from happening via normal methods. Okay. That's understandable. But why is anyone other than you responsible for overcoming your shortcomings?

Would you buy a CD player and then *** to the company that you can't hear it cause you are deaf? No. Why? Because that's *** ***. There are some things you can't do and, yes, it is unfortunate for you, it's not other people's responsibility to cater to you and your disability.

There is a version of this game that is available with text chat. Go play it if you want to play this game. Unfortunately, consoles on a whole are meant for the majority. The people with all five senses in tact. PCs offer a TON of options for the disabled. But YOU were the one responsible for saying...Know what? I'd rather buy a console. Let me make a purchasing choice that I may not get the full experience of because I want it.

That's your call but don't expect an item that doesn't come with it's own keyboard to cater to people who prefer keyboards. It comes with a headset. Know why? Cause it's designed for voice chat. Didn't stop you.

So what's the argument for not playing PC. Don't have a good enough computer? But are you going to *** to bethesda that it's their fault that you aren't receiving the full experience of the game because of difficulties on your end? ie not having the money for a good gaming PC?

Thanks for saving me the time of typing that. I have found that most people are not using voice chat anyways. I think that is partly an issue with the voice feature being messed up in game and not being available.

Simple question: Why don't you want people to have the option to be able to type to each other?

You can turn off all chat so you don't see it. Why do you want to prevent other people from having a different way to communicate? It's not like people are asking to get rid of voice chat.

Gaming companies that are successful generally do cater to the general populations needs when it comes to the hearing impaired or people who are color blind. If you think it's ok to write all of those people off then your game will suffer in the long term because of it....because there are a lot of people out there who will be turned off by the idea of playing a game that they cannot communicate effectively in. We are not just talking about hearing impaired, but also people who wish to not talk on voice chat period due to their voice/age/or a whole assortment of other reasons. When you cut ALL of those people out and refuse to help them....they and their friends will not buy the game or will leave quickly. And I'm sure you think "Well that's fine with me...who needs them anyway!" .....and to answer your question....YOU need them. Because in order for your gaming experience to continue to improve and develop ESO needs to continue to expand it's player base so that theyre able to invest more into the development of this game and future content.

"Elder Scrolls doesn't need more players we have enough!" ....well that's fine if you think that way. Unfortunately the companies involved in making Elder Scrolls titles have competition...and I promise that their competition is wanting to constantly expand the amount of players they have. How do you think they do that? By increasing their investment into their own MMORPG and attempting to pull players away from a stagnant ESO title that is not expanding.
