Exactly, where is the harm. I've been waiting to fix the appearance of my main for some time now. It is VR14 with all crafting at 50 (ok so enchanting is 31) so deleting/rerolling is not really an option.

If they could do it in Morrowind, why cant they do it in ESO? It should have been implimented the same way.Well, rather,a button for the race menu, since they have no console ~ we can use. Too bad, really. It was easy to do.

I find no harm in this, so why not let people play their toon the way they want it to be.

@whiskeyriver it's a bit more complicated for an online game, but still doable.

What they have to do is essentially add a tag to your character, you enter a name you want, the server then checks if it's available.
If it is, then it can lock it down, and you select change name (entry will be something witty like "Are you sure you want to change your name?"), and it does the change and deletes the tag.

Let me pay $14.99 in real currency to change my character name one time once per character. I have been subbed since pre-order and it's my character. I submit feedback. I report bugs. I help answer every in-game question that pops into /zone. Punishing ALL for the slightest possibilities of someone abusing the system is ridiculous. I can dye my armor for free a billion times but I can't adjust my character's name to better fit RPing?!

I think some change/edit options really should be in the game...

...I want barbershops to change a characters "realistically" changeable attributes at a whim (hairstyle, makeup, adornments, etc.), for a minor gold cost.

...I want a namechange option for the one alt I am not happy with name-wise because I thought of a much better name for her orcishness... that one I would even pay an extra fee for.

...and I want a character redesign option to fix minor things that I choose in chargen, but didn't look quite as I intended. Again, I'd be willing to pay a little extra for this.

Alternately, the latter two change choices could be granted as part of the loyalty package... every 3 month subs, you get one namechange and one appereance change for your account, if you want more, pay extra.

Sex change... I would not really see any neccessity for. Though I wouldn't protest if it was added either, just not use it.

Race change... only if they introduce new races someday, then it should be implemented to give those who already filled all their character slots and levelled them through the main story a chance to try the new race too. Otherwise, I'd oppose that on grounds ot FotM sillyness.

Class change... is a huge, likely difficult to implement and generally troublesome can of worms I again see no need for unless they add new classes. If they ever add new classes... I'd want it though, for the same reasons as race change.

    Indeed, I agree.

Basically, these are simple requests that would allow players to continue enjoy their characters. As a result they would likely play ESO more/longer; and that can only be a good thing, both for the community and the financial side of things.

Not so sure on name change - I mean, we do recognize people by their names a lot, less so by faces - but appearance change is long overdue. As someone already said, characters DO look kinda different in game than on character creation. And telling people to reroll an alt just because they don't like their vet char mouth shape(which was supposed to be mildly neutral but is all gloomy somehow) is kinda cruel. If you're bothered people should put more meaning into character creation - well, at least char creation needs to actually show what they'll look like in game. Also, that change could be made a once-per-char only, or only be available for some obscene amount of gold, that would make people think about it.

There is no valid argument against it. It's more options for those that want it that are absolutely not affecting those that don't want them. It's always good.

I also don't really see how that could be hard to implement, I mean, not like we have an appearance creation thingie already right at the start of the game>.> Admittedly I don't know how game coding works, but how hard can it be to make choosing option <x> when talking to that one npc/altar throw us to that screen?

They had a face sculptor in Skyrim DLC Dawnguard who could do that for gold. I don't see why they can't do it in an MMO.

Honestly the creation screen during launch was a damn mess. Critical Miss said it best.

I contacted support about a name change, because I have two argonians, one that I created the day of launch, with the looks and voice I like and halfway through the EP storyline. The second with the name I want, unfortunately unable to replicate the looks of the first, and still fresh out of Coldharbour, with the thought of running through the beginning lands AGAIN causing a knot in my stomach. This is the reply I got:
Thank you for contacting The Elder Scrolls Online Team!

While I understand your reasons for not wanting to keep your characters' current name, sadly we cannot change character names unless that name is in violation of our Code of Conduct.

That's not to say it will never be possible! If you would like to see us add a feature like this in the future, please use our "/feedback" option in the in-game chat box to let the Developers know. Please note that anything submitted using this and /bug bypasses Customer Support, so you will not receive a reply, but rest assured that each one is read.
You may also wish to petition for this by posting on our forums, if you haven't already. If enough players agree with you, this just might get the attention of the Dev Team quicker.
Thank you so much for your continued interest and support. I'm glad that you're enjoying the game and we promise to keep making it better as long as we keep receiving feedback from players like you! If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask and I will be more than happy to help! :)
    Warm Regards,

A: Because pepper makes them sneeze!

So it's not impossible, and may happen one day. So while a little disappointing, it didn't squash hope completely, so I'll probably just keep leveling the first Argonian, and cling to the name with the second. Also, I like corny jokes, so I wasn't terribly unhappy with the reply.

I think ZOS should implement a name change option. I'd say I'm seconding the motion, but it's more like I'm the 200th or more guy that would like to see this option implemented. It wouldn't be hard to implement.

A similar discussion has been brought up in the past, but I felt it was important to discuss it further.

I feel strongly about adding a feature for allowing characters the ability to change their names and possibly the chance to alter appearance. I've read some previous discussions and feel that adding some sort of an altar similar to that of the Stendarr Altar, which resets points, would be an amazing way to implement a method for character name changes as well as their appearances.

If people feel strongly about this or are dissatisfied with their characters name/appearance, then I feel it would help a lot if people were to help bring this topic to the attention of the gms or whomever is responsible for potentially being able to promote this notion.

    Thanks,
and please feel free to add your opinion or very own concepts of how you think this should be executed if it were to be brought to the attention of the Gm's or whomever is responsible for requests and changes.

I have to agree with Hortator Mopa no race change but name and appearance change yes.

And where we promise a barbershop so we could do all of this thing and dont tell me it go to be a DLC for serious ZoS not everything need to be DLC.

I believe that's the same letter response from ZOS that's often given for features not implemented. It's fair to say that there's been a TON of feedback from players asking for this, yet still nothing.

Well that is nothing now about that sadly :(

Same goes for Dark Brotherhood which if i reminder right was go to be part of Justice System but i guess it is easy to gave us half done content instead of full content.

Well, we can just keep expressing our desire for such a feature, and hope the PTB will add it to the game soonish!

At least the basic namechange and appereance recustomization. I'd happily pay crowns for that...

Other changes... well... those are still argued about I guess. Personally I wouldn't have any desire to change my characters gender, race or class, though I wouldn't be opposed to thers having the option - as long as it costs enough to keep it something people would think twice about.

I would but ONLY if they do it in a "multi-pack" of like 10. And even then, it still better not cost more than 1,000 crowns.

Quote from the AuA from Reddit yesterday:
We don't want to do a complete rebalancing of all racial passives until the respec feature is complete so players would be able to switch over to whatever race bonuses they like the best. However in the mean time we plan to tweak the less powerful races for the next major update.

Also, I can't remember exactly where they say it, but they have said, besides the racial changes, that a barbershop/salon was being planned so that we can change our looks. There was no estimation of when this would happen, though. And no clarification if we'll ever be able to change our characters names.

BTW, filing a ticket and asking them to change a character's name will only work if the name is offensive. Otherwise, you just get asked to suggest it on the forums. They'll let you change your guild name, but not your characters. Go figure. *sighs*

character name change - absolutely. i hate my name and have been waiting for the paid name change service since launch. especially considering the reddit AMA before launch said that name changes were at the top of the list of things to add to the store. over a year later, still nothing.

put in a help ticket about it the other day too and was told i could only get a namechange if it was reported for being innapropriate. so i guess i'm gonna be off to a populated area to beg for reports... which is stupid.

although i am still waiting for official response on whether they will or wont change it for me.

as for character re-customisation - i'm not fussed. i can see why some people might take issue with it, but as long as it's kinda expensive and has a long cool down, i dont see much of an issue.

Most other MMO games charge for this kind of thing, regardless of there being a cash shop. When this thread was created, that's what many of us assumed would be the case IF such a service was added. : P

Is this ever going to go live? I want to make some tweaks... My character has been in game for a long time now.

For role playing purposes, I'd like to show him age, have some battle scars, and carry a little more weight than when he first started his journey.
