Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Would not recommend this game to anyone...

I'm not gonna quit the game, like most have suggested, I've payed my money just like the rest of you. If I see something messed up, I'll call it out. I keep seeing the same excuses over and over, still... Stop making excuses for them, they messed up the launch, still isn't fixed, but getting better. The fact that the call of duty reference is getting thrown out the window and made fun of shows how bad yall really have it. The servers may be small, but how many have to be made to hold the millions that jump on every release? I'm not the dumb one here, just ready to see these guys actually get something right, yall should to, when this game gets fixed its gonna be the best, but it's definitely not at the moment.

They will fix it. Be patient.

With the console release, they will have funds to fix problems.

Exactly but what we need most is communication. With all the money they are making on consoles I hope they hire a GREAT communication director. That will help on PC/MAC side 1000%!!!

Yeah I mean a first person 3D enviroment played by millions of people online at the same time is no comparisson to ESO, may be we should compare it to Battlefield where you can have 60 people in one place without lag.

Are you kidding? One Brazilian on a BF4 server pretty much makes the game a lag fest.

    Hehe.

If you enjoy the game yes, help bring in new players to generate revenue for the company. They can hire more help and get more done. They just had a change in staffing as well.

Consider your other MMO alternatives. The grass isn't always greener and this is coming from the guy who has played just about every single major MMO title since EverQuest. ESO is a rose in the desert, despite it's issues. Continue to support the game we love, and there's a better chance for changes to occur. Telling people to quit, well...that's not going to help anyone.

"Calling out something messed up" is all well and good, but really at this point in the existence of games that rely on a server - you HAVE to absolutely understand what is going on. It's pretty standard practice at this point, and with the infrastructure that we currently have as far as server/internet loads go - it's going to happen until that all gets sorted out through the years.
  • MythikDark
Are you seriously comparing the launch of ESO (an MMO) to a CoD (an FPS) launch? they are two totally different games. WOW the ignorance of people these days.

I was extremely excited to hear eso would be coming to console, pre-ordered it and was on the minute it was released. Like many I was unable to actually play the game, I waited at the login screen for 3 hours, finally I gave up. Went to bed, and was actually able to get on and create my character, but was kicked of many times. Today I haven't been able to stay connected for longer than 15 minutes at a time without being booted out. The wait times in between are completely unreasonable. They had a year to get this together, failed on pc release, and now console. The amount of money people spend on this game/franchise, you'd think they'd finally do something right, give the fans what they want. The game is awesome, I just wish I'd be able to play it. i know there are a lot of fanboys that will defend them, and talk about other game releases not going so well, but I've been on a few call of duty games where the release went smoothly and the servers held the massive amounts of players on there. But I'm finally able to log on, so I guess I'll be back in about 15 minutes when I get kicked off to see if this has been deleted. Get it together guys. I'd like a consistent experience.

Welcome to the world and launch of MMO's.
[Moderator Note: Edited per our rules on Rude and Insulting comments]

I keep seeing the same excuses about how many players there are, isn't that what the mega servers were for? The beta, they knew how many people would be playing or that many copies of the game wouldn't have been playing. I'm still gonna play the game, but I'm also gonna complain when the release was this horrible, you kids just keep up the excuses, im sure you're making yourselves feel better, and making them feel better, now they know when they mess up, their fan base is going to be ok with it each and every time.

You're the child as clearly you don't understand, their are many variables to consider. Sure they have an idea how many people bought the game, no MMO has had a perfect launch they ALL have rocky launches. Some better than others but always connection and downtime issues due to hundreds if not a thousand people trying to log in at once. The mega server wasn't to stop this from happening, it was to keep all players in one big community instead of friends being split from other friends by different servers, to avoid low population servers and so on.

I'm not gonna quit the game, like most have suggested, I've payed my money just like the rest of you. If I see something messed up, I'll call it out. I keep seeing the same excuses over and over, still... Stop making excuses for them, they messed up the launch, still isn't fixed, but getting better. ROFL the fact that you keep going back to the CoD reference and think that it is relevant and can compare to an MMO launch shows how truly ignorant and uneducated YOU really are! MMO's are completely different from games such as CoD,. It's a completely different infrastructure and set up required to run/host those servers. In CoD, it's a player who hosts the match and they are smaller numbers of players per match, hence why a match will be put on hold if the host rage quits and leaves until it determines the next best player (by connection) to continue hosting otherwise that game will end.

In an MMO it is an actual server at an external site being run and maintained and that holds hundreds of players, up to thousands so it's not even close to the same thing so STOP trying to compare and calling those who don't agree with your backwards logic as being wrong when it is YOU that is wrong!

Guess you internally combust waiting in line at the post office, or fly around on the shoulder when there is traffic.

BTW the mega-server has nothing to do with logging in. It's only about removing the server separation that other games have.

There is no comparison. Those games create instances for a set number of people. This game has a single persistent instance that everyone must enter.

I hate you've had such a hard time trying to play and I'm not going to defend/attack or compare this game with other releases etc... But I am going to say I read a lot of negative posts a lot of rage quitting etc. A lot of them start or end with "I've been here since BETA" well, that should tell you something. They stuck around. The game is that much fun to play. Glitches ? Yep. Does ZOS try and get fixes asap? Yep. (except for PVP areas ;) ) Are they addressing the problem you're having? Yep, trust me they are on it. Console being successful is that important . So I will say this to you, give them a few days to straighten this out (I'm sure they want it fixed before Saturday more than the you. ) . But if you won't , well okay you won't. But when the people you are NOT going to recommend this game to asks any of the questions I have or similar ones be honest. Let them know that , although the ZOS team was trying to fix the issue , you were not willing to stick around until the problem was resolved. AND no its not going to be a year or six months down the road , they want console players on their consoles playing ESO -Tamriel Unlimited asap. I hope things get resolved for you and I hope you just hold off quitting before they get the problems fixed. Once you can get on and play without disruptions , It really is awesome and worth the small extended wait !! Really :) !

Lol still picking at the COD reference, I never said it was the same. I know their not. Insulting ones intelligence because you can't read correctly is the truly amusing thing about the comments on here. Yes they're totally different, but they have their act together, if they can make a release work, why can't an mmo? If they're gonna eventually get it right like so many on here keep saying, why didn't they get it right with the year they had after pc release? Why is it other games eventually get the memo where it needs to be, but never get it right on the first day? I'm being patient, the game is actually working quite well for me today, just hit lvl 10, made a guild and having fun exploring. I had no intentions on quoting, and still don't, just saying until things are up to par, I wouldn't recommend this game. That's what my original post was about. I'm done with this thread now, it's no longer amusing when the same thing is repeated multiple times. Hope yall have the same luck I've had today :)

If you are ready to give the game a bad review because of NORMAL mmorpg issues the first 48 HOURS then you are part of the problem.

No offence but that is a really typical fanboi attitude, Zeni has basically ignored us, the PC community for months on end, some of us, including myself been here since early beta, and fed the same rubbish over and over again, then to find out they are putting everything on hold for consoles.

Consoles are easier to code for than PC , simply cos of the architecture, whereas there is a myriad of PC configurations, and the game is amazing on so many levels but flawed on so many levels also.

Zeni and the way they treat the game on any platform, not the players are the problem.

Myself and many PC gamers have beta tested this game for absolutely ages, and with no end in sight to the plague of issues.

Game stability on any platform is absolutely vital for game success, it is as though they learned nothing from the past year and more for us long suffering PC players and repeating the same rubbish on console.

They had months to code and iron out issues for console release, same as with us on PC, and for months afterwards ,not 48 hours, some issues are still in effect even since beta.

The poster has a right to voice his/her opinion, like all of us, they paid for the game, they have a right to expect a working product.

Anything else is just excuses, piled on excuses, lies and stonewalling.

    Bit like in PC ESO...

So I'll try to educate you. A game as popular as this (console launch wise) brings in so many people it's IMPOSSIBLE to prepare/stress test something like that and get it exactly right. This stuff happens. But continue, I do enjoy your tears.

    Lol, just lol.

Hardly tears, just statements of fact, but continue in your fanboii ignorance just a bit more.

Not a expert on the console issues, but some issues seem to be the same for us PC players, and going by Zenis undisputed track record on the subject, it is doubtful at best whether the issues will be fixed, if ever.

I do not know nor care about you, but some of us have played since beta and seen it all, and still see issues that are ignored or lied too from Zeni.

    Lol the ignorance is amazing..

Been playin since nov 2013 holmes. Also a network admin so I giggle when folks like you come up with statements like yours. And yes, there have been certain annoying bugs around since launch. But pleas, continue, the tears are filling me up.

    Ah. Network admin.

That explains your earlier post about launch issues being IMPOSSIBLE (emphasis yours) to predict.

An engineer would have no problem predicting capacity issues, especially with the wealth of in house information available (such as expected traffic per user, number of units sold, etc etc.) Not to mention the experience of having launched once already on PC.

Some people have gotten so used to bad launches that they just don't expect any better.

I suspect that either the capacity issues were known pre-launch and the decision was consciously made not to invest in temporary infrastructure, or that infrastructure alone couldn't solve the problem and a software fix couldn't be implemented in time. I'd bet my bottom dollar that somewhere in ZOS before launch, an engineer was freaking out because he or she knew what was coming. They have too much talent for me to believe otherwise.

No company is going to invest millions of dollars in extra servers JUST for launch capacity, it doesn't make economic sense- especially given that in a couple of weeks the server overload will have calmed down- until a DLC is released- then once again you'll have server overload for a month. This happened all the time on DCUO, when a DLC was released, it was queues, disconnects, lag... and complaining... rinse, recycle, repeat with the next DLC. Considering that the Elder Scrolls series is a huge success, ESO appeals to not only MMO players but solo players as well- which only increases the number of players. So no, what we're seeing now is NOT a surprise to me, nor is it a surprise to the company bean-counters as well... as they will have done a full cost-analysis to determine the number of servers versus income generated versus potential players lost. Also consider that this game is B2P, once bought and opened, you can't return it. So, even if some players get frustrated and walk away, chances are, they'll be back in another month or two.

Good post only one thing you are wrong about. They will be able to return the game and even if they couldn't they can have the charge if paid by credit/debt what ever within 30 days. Just pointing out the forums would be enough. Sure by tomorrow there will be reviews every where saying how it was a busted launch and still having big problems. Normal for me to see this and live thru it all again (don't mean the ESO PC/MAC launch).

But still believe Gamespot gives 7 days auto return now, Best Buy will take it back not sure how many days.

I stopped reading after I saw a comparison to call of freaking duty. Sorry buddy, you've probably been told this numerous times in this thread. But this is a mmo. I'm a die hard console player, but MMOs will always be my first love. Thinking you will get serious play time when millions of people (literally) try to log into a game at the same time is like taking an ear of corn, putting it into the freezer, and expecting it to be warm buttery popcorn in a movie bag....which by the way is what the veterans of this game (the PC players) are eating watching whiney console players that think destiny is a real mmo and cod is a good game come onto a real mmo and think they know what should be going on.

Chill out, quit or give it a few days and come back with more server stability. Regardless, wether you stay or go, the game will go on and noone will care.

Well aware this game had a lot of problems last year as they caused me to take a 4 month break from the game.

Lol @ call of duty comparison. Not the same whatsoever

Yeah I mean a first person 3D enviroment played by millions of people online at the same time is no comparisson to ESO, may be we should compare it to Battlefield where you can have 60 people in one place without lag.

There is no comparison. Those games create instances for a set number of people. This game has a single persistent instance that everyone must enter.

Well to be fair, all the Battlefield games, regardless of alpha/beta and allegedly listening to us, have always been terrible releases, and take roughly a year to be good.

And for 64 vs 64 Conquest maps for the ones who do or have played, know just how long a road it has been for some suffering gamers to play without lag server side.

And to be fair BF tech is way more advanced and on dedi servers with a client cap to lessen load, it does not really apply here at all, different genre, different tech.

Although I would love some features from Premium to come here, i.e priority queuing and regular drops, compared to BF Premium, ESO Plus is sorely underwhelming hehe.

    People. Little, Impatient people.
When the last expansion of World of Warcraft was released, it was the same thing.
I was in a queue, with a position of about 30,000 in front of me.
    30,000
The game was laggy for a few weeks, then settled down.
I logged on just to check out the queue times.
Everyone that has experience with new expansions KNOWS you don't plan on doing anything in the game for the first week or two.
Bugs, unexpected loads, tweaks, mini-patches, mini-updates, servers going up and down while they work to resolve the issues.

I'm glad to see people playing the game but it really feels you guys are expecting an MMO to behave like a frickin single player first person shooter.
