Using the same character on both servers

I created a character on the European server since I could not get into the NorthAmerica server. Now that traffic has died down some, I would like to play with my friends on the NorthAmerica server. Can I not use this same character? I have to create a whole new one and start over?

Unfortunately, you will have to create a new character. I did the same thing, luckily only leveled a few times on the EU server, so the transition wasn't as bad.
