Crash on start up/Stuck on black screen

Only since the last patch have I had this. At the same time I downloaded the 1.6gb patch I also got the new nvidia drivers. I thought these drivers were the cause, so I promptly rolled back. Restarted, then it was fine.
The next day it happened again. This time after I was stuck in a load screen in Cyrodiil, which isn't uncommon. I just alt F4 like normal and go to start the client straight from the exe as I have done since 1.6. Again I was hit by this same loop crash/black screen bug. I then proceeded to do the following.
- Did a repair
- Removed videos
- Removed host files
- Removed all my addons and saved variables
Finally I renamed my /eso/live folder in Documents. Went to launch again and bam it work. Had to go through all the T&C jazz again. Had to remake all video settings. Copied back my addons.
The next day, today it happened again. So I looked further into this. I deleted the live folder then with a fresh version I replaced single files 1 by one on various restarts of the client to find the crash. I couldn't actually find what was making it happen. I can see hidden file and system files. I'm really not sure what goes on. The only fix is to removed the whole folder.
TLDR;
Rename your documents/eso/live folder each time you launch the game. Replace your addons, their variables and UserSettings.txt file.

✭After a few days of BSOD. This came up. It is the following line in documents/eso/live/UserSettings.txt

✭When I was having all kinds of issues with the launcher/patcher I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. It took a while but it seemed to resolve some of the issues I have had. I still have an occasional crash, bug, and of coarse there will ALWAYS be lag, but the launcher errors I was getting are no more. If you haven't uninstalled/reinstalled in a long time, give that a try.NA Server - Kildair0
