PC controller support!? When?

OK not to sound impatient but the console version is out now (almost) and we were promised controller support after it was out??!

Joking. But an ETA would be super cool. Been itching to play with a controller since day one.

I've been using third party tools to play with a controller since I started playing last month. No controller support was a big turn off for me when I played the beta. This is one of the upcoming features I am looking forward to the most.

Third party software does not offer what I am looking for in controller support. What I like about controller support is the 360 degree movement and gradual movement speed afforded by a stick. Keyboard offers 8 directions at 3 movement speeds barring snares and speed buffs. Third party software will put a controller in my hands, but it's still just a keyboard under the hood.

Ok new rule. Let's stop undermining these post with " hey xpadder works just great" etc. the devs need to know that a HUGE majority of PC players want native controller support. The game is insanely better with their console UI and controller. And they need to do the right thing and port that over as a PC option ASAP. These third party app excuses will only fuel apathy.

I was hoping as a surprise to the PC players there would be a patch that implimented the controller support during the console launch.

MMO consumers shouldn't expect surprises, they should be fearful of them. Anything being developed for an MMO will have some level of beta and/or PTS testing to iron out the kinks before it gets in the hands of everyone. When something is a surprise, aka public testing doesn't happen, you can expect an onslaught of issues.

Tagging things as a beta feature sounds good, but making something a feature that doesn't give random UI errors essentially means it's past beta

I've been using a controller since beta, but agree that native support would be much better than a 3rd party work-around. It still boggles me that it was not included at release. After watching the Twitch console preview last week, I came away with the impression we will not see controller support soon. Typical of ZOS, they danced around the issue, saying how much they wanted it, but there are big issues implementing the console UI on PC. To me, that was ZOS-speak for ' don't expect it soon, if ever'. Would love to be wrong about this.

On a tangent, Voice Chat for PC is another missing feature, but based on forum console complaints, looks like major work is needed to fix that on consoles, so don't expect it anytime soon for PC.

They have a add-on you can use with pinnacle to use with your xbox one, ps4, or xbox 360 controller it has a UI in the game so you can see what buttons to hit. Here is the link in-case anyone wants to use it Controller Support

Eh not too many issues when it comes to FFXIV doing surprises in the updates usually turns out very well

So buy a remote keyboard/mouse, get a long hdmi cable and play like an adult.

Things have moved on somewhat , back in the days of the ZX spectrum , keys where my prefered choice of control , but gaming these days for a lot of people is more accessible / relaxing to use a games controller .

Keyboard and mouse is fine , but even a remote keyboard and mouse , without the right surface / seating position in front of you to place such devices , that place generally been sat on the sofa in front of large screen TV.

Bring on the games Controllers , you have it all set up for 2 of the main games consoles on the market.....SO hey why the delay !!!

Witcher 3 and GTA V both have this and is great being able to use a 360 controller seamlessly.
Yes 3rd party software can work but they need to add controller support....

You guys read my mind. YES we need an option to play the PC using a controller. Since I am not buying the console version (they screwed me over with the console transfer) I want to play my PC game in the big screen TV with a controller. I will check out this Xpadder you guys are talking about..

I am not as at ease as other pc players. The holding stuff back excuse is over. They need to start releasing stuff for all platforms or I'm stepping .

I got three sets: Combat, Adventure, Menu Navigation. D-pad down is my set selector and you can move weapon swap wherever you like.

I started using pinnacle profiler because menu navigation is better with "go to function" for cursor memory so when you navigate menus no need to cycle after you figure out positions on screen.

I agree. Even though I do use Xpadder I want a seamless interface. Most games today allow for both Keyboard and Controller. Why they did not release with a Controller option is beyond me.
