About the "endgame" that everyone complains...

I marked OP insightful but I think GW2 is a "gear treadmill" too. I never ever encountered people aking you to post your gear at dungeon entrance but in GW2 it's very common. If gear would be only cosmetic that doesn't suppose to happen. They advert looking for group with things like this: "only zerker". The daily points grind is repetitive, boring and the exclusive guildshop items force you to join guild activities or you fall behind gearwise.

ESO is unique cos the story background. The environment. It has a lot of potential.

    - It requires an achievment point system lik in GW2
    - a better grouping tool (I don't know how it would be better but current system is broken)
    - better side activities like xp for catching fish, or fish ingredient need in better recipes
    - new zones (who wouldn't jump on the wagon just by reading the following words: Morrowind opening in next patch)
    - new guilds (thieves, morag tong, dark brotherhood)
    - class skills rebalance (no one hit kills, no untouchable shield stacks in pvp)
    - new classes
    - new weapons (I would love only fist -fighting gloves- or scepter)
    - some sort of housing system (but only for helping the crafting system like it would be nice to actually meet our hirelings)
    - more cosmetic gear (but not getting them trough grind it doesn't matter if it would be exclusivly crown store just no grind please!)

Learn from other mmo's inventions and mistakes too!

    - non competitive crafting nodes (It would be nice to not arguing over picking flowers)
    - rewarding grouping (no not your level i dont get xp leave please, or "don't you see this grinding place is taken")
    - don't let people invited in your group if they are on your ignore list
    - don't let enemy faction send whispers to you
    - reward helping others (healing, reviving)

    - don't go pay to win
    - don't go toxic community
    - don't go boring storyline
    - don't go gear grind
    - don't go any kind of grind
    - don't punish players for their playstyle (reward solo and group play too + casual and hardcore)

But obviously theres things ESO doing better than other mmos:

    - I never seen a gold seller
    - I never seen a botter (they say they exist but I never seen 1)
    - I never seen a lfg advert asking for a specific class or gearset
    - I never seen toxic threads lingering too long on forum
    - crafting is worthwhile
    - character progress is slow (well it creates a feeling you actually achieve something for sticking with the game for long if you can get max level fast it wouldn't be an achievement)
    - if you have a quest "kill 10 rats" its actually max 5 and its rare
    - no "fedEx" quests
You miss the lol button? It has been taken away for a reason. And the reason is how people used it for bash others who didn't share their opinion.

I listed some reasons why I play (and reasons that I feel don't apply to me) and wondered why folks are playing if they are not enjoying things. Some feedback:

the difference between you and us is this.

you are getting *new stories* and *seeing new people* where we arent getting that

I've not finished the leveling/main quest in all alliances yet; my highest characters are EP:42nd, DC:Vet2, AD:42nd. I also run two accounts full of characters, the lowest one is currently still in Cold Harbor (starting) I think she's a 2nd.

So as a *player* I am not so much getting *new* stories / meeting *new* characters any more.

    But my characters are.

I play ESO in large part because it's something that I can share with my spouse. And a couple of good friends with whom we often use Skype or Teamspeak. We've been known to spend literally hours putzing about because a particular redgard likes to gather every ingredient that she can - and cook them promptly and sell them to vendors - it's part of that "character". Or because one of my altmers insists on producing "quality clothing" to offer for sale. Or because a particular Sorcerer simply must check every darn kiosk in several cities to see if there are certain rings (I don't even remember which one's he's looking for - but the obsession [he he he - my word not his] is a delightful part of his ornery character).

Yes I think it would be less enjoyable if I were not playing with a regular group of players. My understanding is that this would be an ideal situation; to find folks that you love to game with and game (and RP) with them (maybe I'm having too many flashbacks to "The Guild" on youtube - which I started watching waay before I even knew or cared what an MMO was - ooops off topic -sorry).

So the other night the four of us; Orc/Sorc/Tank and Breton/Templar/Healer (married in-game), and redgard/DK/sorta-tank-sorta-DPS, and redgard/Templar/DPS-and-backup-healer got together to attempt and completely fail to finish Shada's Tears (Vet 1, Vet 1, Vet 2, Vet7 in a dungeon that scaled to Vet 11 - and this is so NOT a high DPS group - what did we expect, really?).

After ... jeez way too long and potions and soul gems depleted, that group retired for a time.

And another group set out: Altmer/Sorc/DPS, Altmer/DK/Tank, Altmer/Sorc/Healer-with-a-side-of-DPS, and the newest member, Bosmer/NB/DPS (and for reasons having to do with character names this group has been officially nicknamed "Kenny's Angels" which pisses off the bosmer no end). Went out to do a few undaunted (at our actual levels) and totally waltzed through and mopped up Fungal Grotto and Spindleclutch (I just never get tired of killing that horrific spider daedra).

Anyway, in my long and rambling (and probably simultaneously incomplete and TMI) way, I want to stress that for me, each character's experience is unique. It may be informed by others (some via me the player, some via NPCs including the characters of myself, my spouse and the others we play with) and some from the game.

When I contemplate rolling up yet another character to play say in ... AD ... part of me is thinking/wondering/speculating how well they will get along with Raz, with Ayrenn ... how things will go for them.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

And, again, I must stress that this experience is not unique to you. I can play multiple characters and enjoy the story for each. And I have. Multiple times. Now there is little I actually want to do in the story anymore.

I would be interested to hear more specifics of what you would want to do.

The simple answer; they should add more content.

its not as if that hasn't been said constantly for months...
