leveling gear rewards

i am level 16 templar but so far the reward system gives me heavy armor gear..some medium and few light..best gear i got were mostly heavy(green and blue)..but the fact is light armor is what dps/heal templar need and thanks to leveling system even for gear and weapons..i have issue leveling up my light armor unless i use white quality light armor and ignore the blue heavy helmet i got..that is significant drop in stats and as new player make leveling way harder with crappy gear..also obviously dont have enough gold to buy better light armor.
the game need to improve reward system so i have chose at end of quest what kind of armor i want..have chance to choose between 3.
weapons i can manage and game gives me enough gold to but what weapon i want..but armor is a problem.

The best thing to do is wear crafted armor for 5-10 levels. It will work fine that way so your not constantly crafting. White/green items will work great while your learning things. You can always get someone to make armor for you as there are a lot of crafters out there. If you have the materials a lot of people will either make it for free or at a much lower cost.

If Light Armor is important for your character, you need to make time to increase your level in clothing if you want to be able to focus on leveling up without having to worry about under-leveled armor.

you are actually right..but that makes the quest reward useless..or random(RNG) stuff you do not even need..that is horrible way of rewarding players particularly at low levels.

If you jump off a cliff while praying to the RNG gods, you might respawn at a wayshire that has a decently-stocked guild kiosk nearby.

I call it the "Hail Mara" approach...

Or you can hit up treasure chests and dolmen rewards until you find what you like. Until you hit vet levels, quest rewards are just an exercise in regifting.

Random chance. Level 16 is very low, you will out level most stuff pretty fast in any case.

The assumption that a healing / DPS templar NEEDS light is not correct. It is what you are choosing to use.

You should get plenty of whites and greens as drops . Blues really aren't' a big deal until much later,and you usually out level them pretty fast pre-50 anyway. if you find yourself with a piece or 2 really under level you can buy greens ( even blues) in most towns. Don't get a whole set, just the bits that are 5-8 levels low.

Crafting makes it easy to stay on the cutting edge, but you really don't need to. The more stuff you kill, the more you may get a drop you can wear. Make sure you run delves and other points of interest. World bosses and dolmens always give you a few greens and often a blue, which you can sell at worst.

Quest rewards are fixed, so you get what they give. lots of swords, daggers and clubs lol... and for some reason hats and belts.

The idea behind ESO system is that it promotes trading and sociality. You need to sell/trade stuff to make money and get the gears you want. If players get the reward they want, they dont give a damn about anything and anti-social behaviour takes over the game. I personally love this we players are dependant on each other, instead of we are some loner soloers.

Hey Parpin,

It's worth having a look at the crafting system, as a magicka based DPS/Healer your gear dependency isn't as high as a Tank or Melee DPS so you can hold onto gear for a little longer without noticing a need to upgrade.

I levelled up a Breton Templar Healer / DPS and pre-crafted all his gear in 10-level increments (Level 10 set, level 20 set...). It's really easy to find enough mats (or buy some) and if you can get a set bonus from a crafting station, like seducers, it will be far better than any gear you will find. Finish them off with the Training traits and your armour / weapon skill lines will be 50 by the time your character is level 45 (My destruction staff skill line was 50 by the time I hit 38).

A few people have mentioned that other players might be willing to craft the gear for you providing you bring the mats. Alternatively, look for a friendly guild and they might be able to help you out as well.

If all else fails, Google it! You'll find a heap of information on crafting and gear all over the place.

This is correct and continues through out the game. Just about all boss drops and rewards are pretty much useless except undaunted drops from dungeons and some drops from trials and dsa. Rewards in general doesn't really feel like reward at all and worth pursuing.

But that how it is. The faster one accepts this and finds other ways of the game being rewarding the better. If expecting amazing quest and very difficult boss in the end with great reward, you're in the wrong game.

You are right the Actual Quest rewards were quite clearly not thought out, they should of made this a choice of either heavy medium or light, or a type of weapon depending on the reward.

But you will see that unrewarding prizes from doing anything in the game is the norm.

It's plain to see that the whole reward system needs an overhaul.

thanks all for replies.
now that i know i should craft my gear i do not care about rewards any more..you can sell blue stuff for gold or salvage..any how i red couple guides on templar builds and game play and became to know i need light armor.
but for the people who are playing mmo for the first time particularly console players because they are traditionally play single player games..even today most mmo are not available on console..those guys will be confused by random drop of gear and it bonuses..that is why i said it is horrible..like the guys goes into vet dungeon just to realize..he was doing it wrong all the time and he has to level a correct armor.
the bonuses are very limiting in my opinion and the concept of every class can wear all type of armors is not true..because the set bonus very much limiting you to specific build.

yes, level 16 is still usually a bit too early to have collected a full light set from drop/rewards alone. although at that range, you should be able to find some pieces of warlock (if you don't wanna craft) in the auction house.

Honestly, at lower levels the biggest benefit of armor is training. Wearing a mix enables you to train all three types. Along with the other advice here, I recommend just wearing the best pieces you get as drops or rewards until you get a better piece. Train your crafting along the way and you should be able to make some sets by the time you get to the last zone or so. Instead of worrying about armor, focus on game mechanics of dodging, blocking, spell weaving, etc. Mastering these will have a bigger impact when you can get hold of the armor you want as you approach and cross into vet status. Don't forget about food or potion buffs either.

At low levels you don't have the passive abilities that give bonuses for wearing a full set of an armour type. So just mix and match and use what you pick up from quests, mobs, crafting, cheap deals on guild vendors etc.

Stats are more useful to you than armour type while levelling really. For example, if you're a magicka templar, you're better off equipping heavy armour that has a magicka boost than a piece of light armour that boosts stamina.

Wearing a mix of armour types while levelling is useful anyway as it keeps all those armour types earning levels. Chances are you'll be using a 5/2 armour mix later on anyway (5 of one type, 2 of another).
