Should people who missed the deadline be given some option of a console transfer?

YES, if they paid full price give them the digital download and the transfer for $20
i dont intend to get a new console for a while at this rate, and if i ever do, i would never play eso on it unless i had this option.

i have sunk a year into this game, have 4 Vet 14s on each class and tons of stuff on all 8 possible characters.. all of those characters have existed since the 7day early release and a few planned in Beta.

Console version would never be worth the loss of all that even if everyone i knew migrated.

my past MMO experience spoiled me to this stuff. this nonsense about consoles being on seperate servers just doesnt fly and is inexcusable.

way too much division of the playerbase when this game has no room to divide it.

oh and by the way, i lose literally nothing by staying on PC atm.. in fact would be losing quite a bit if i had a Console and had taken the transfer... everything i have read about the BS they are pulling on consoles has had me shaking my head at ZOS....

this whole "missed the boat" thing is nonsense from the start... i hate to pull this card, but PC master race.

It´s like willingly nailing your balls to the floor using 9 inch nails and then rapidly stand up.

Most people have crap PCs that they use for gaming. Even the latest Steam poll still has people using ancient components and playing at 720p. Comparatively, consoles are actually better specced for gaming. Will an decent mid range, or an uber PC always beat consoles in raw power and pixel output? Of course. I don't know why people need to imply that others don't understand this logic, other than the usual insecurity over life decisions/ platform choice.

I have a SLI 780 gaming laptop that can play nearly everything in 4K (and is great for work). Still, that's my "work" machine mostly. And unless I want carpal tunnel or RSI, I need to get off my PC for a few hours a day. So I mostly game on consoles, unless the game is PC exclusive. The interface and ease of use are huge positive factors for me. Steam's "console" Big Screen overlay is still complete crap. I can only imagine your stance on mobile gaming.

A little less hyperbole next time would be nice. Just because you don't like something, that doesn't mean its crap or the equivalent to castrating oneself.

Edit: On topic. People missed the boat and this horse is long dead and fly-blown. Leave it be.

Playing with a controller instead of mouse+kb IS the gamingequivalent to castrating yourself....or at least chopping of 8 of your 10 fingers.

But I admit, I didn`t think of people with severely limited PCs. I guess that would be a reason to use consoles. On the other hand, a console costs like what, 400 bucks? With that money you can upgrade your PC good enough.

they might not have any choice in the matter.

not that easy. There are a MYRIAD of reasons as to why they are not doing it any more

    1. code - they are transferring a MASSIVE amount of code from one system to TWO, COMPLETELY Different systems, the coding is VERY different in between these system. Heck, once the servers are live for consoles, it might not be POSSIBLE to do it again
    2. they might want to try and curb the amount of maxed out characters to a "new" game
    3. it could EASILY be that MS and Sony just do not want it, and/or are only allowing a month.

People need to stop and think of exactly what they are doing.

ALSO, ESO is the FIRST game to do allow anything like this at all.

    1. GTA 5 did transfers and they did it between all systems (made a post about this earlier but I was playing neverwinter at the time and mistakenly typed neverwinter instead). My buddy was on PS3 and transferred to Xbone One. If transferring code is a problem for the devs than this game will be forever doomed.
    2. I would wager that most transfers are at V14 and they should have expected such. And GTA V didn't really have any issues with "maxed out" characters flooding the servers. Every lobby I was in, there were characters of all levels. Besides, if they were worried about this then they would never have had a transfer option.
    3. What reason would MS and Sony have for not wanted more players playing more games? They are in it for the money so I would bet the farm that they want as many gaming addicts as they can find.

I really don't understand why they did what they did but it would help the mods out, as well as the rest of us if they would make an official statement regarding the why. If they can do it once the servers are live, then they need to voice that or they risk losing a lot of business. I don't think I'll be waiting around after launch.

Lets just be honest here, they handled the whole thing poorly from pushing the game back to the transfer itself. They should have either not done it at all, or stuck with what they originally announced (anyone who played the game before June should have been able to transfer at release). The old "subject to change" weasel clause may protect them, but it doesnt make what they did right.

How about just an account transfer - so NO CHARACTERS? That way, you dont lose out the Pet shop exclusives you purchased, ect. ZOS please respond!!

I could care less about the junk I got from the crown store, you can have it, gear too. All I want is the time I put into my character, I dont want to grind through that again. I am a professional and don't have time to grind through it again. Around June of last year I was promised that if I played PC at that time, I would be able to transfer AT RELEASE. Making another announcement months later about a small window of opportunity is not good business.

Yes it does. If you don't think that adding loads and loads of VR rank characters to a new platform launch will affect gameplay, PvP, economy, etc, then you're highly mistaken.

Honestly though, if the transfers opened up again with a max character level of 30 or something, I'd be fine with that.
    -

GTA V begs to differ with you sir, game play was just fine. I transferred at level 80, my buddy did at level 30-something and another at level 90. Everything regarding player levels at transfer was fine (server lag is a different story but that has nothing to do with the transfers).

OK if they open it back up for you guys, then they should also open it up to give the loyal players that paid from day 1 right thru and give us more than 1500 crowns, 100 crowns for every month we paid a senche. We deserve it I believe more than you guys. We supported the game from before live and after. Like I stated back then we should have received a lifetime ESO Plus account.

But that isn't going to happen just as it won't happen with you guys. So like me and a few others suck it up and accept it you missed the deal.

What are you talking about? How do you figure opening up the transfer period again means youre due more free Crowns? If they reopen the Transfer period those who missed out would still have to pay the 20 dollar transfer fee. We are exchanging money for a service. Where do you get that you should insert your interest in gaining more free Crowns because of that?

Prime example of someone that has no real reason for why players that missed out on something should go without but would all too much like to cash in on it themselves somehow if it makes a return.

So this is only about you and what they should do for you. Forget the people that have been here every day playing and paying and never received in my opinion a well deserved thank you for supporting us from day one. Yeah you deserve more for not really supporting them.

Personally if they did open it up for you guys it would be one of the worse business decisions they could do. No doubt they would lose players that did support the game with their cash.

This has nothing to do with who was loyal and who wasn't. They told us that if we bought the pc version that we would be able to transfer AT RELEASE. So I went out and PAID for the pc version. Then some months later, after they accepted my money on those terms, they decide to change the terms. I understand completely, that they are legally protected under there "terms are subject to change" weasel clause, but that in no way, shape, or form means that what they did was ethically correct.

ZOS announced in the original statement that players would have an opportunity to apply for a transfer that would take place at release.
ZOS provided players with an opportunity to apply for a transfer that would take place at release.

ZOS did not state that the offer would take place at release, only the transfer.

    ZOS also stated:
Whether you decide to take advantage of this offer or not, we promise to do everything we can to get the game released on both consoles as quickly as we can. We will keep everyone updated with additional details regarding character transfers, specific offer dates, when you can expect console beta to start, and of course, when ESO on consoles will launch.
    http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2014/05/08/eso-on-consoles--update

It is noteworthy that in the original announcement, "specific offer dates" and "when ESO on consoles will launch" are two distinct points within the list.

The main legal terms impacting this particular situation are actually the ZeniMax Privacy Policy which is a contractual between Zenimax and the user and states that ZOS is not allowed to contact users with information regarding such offers unless the user opts in to receive it.

    NO, they missed the boat.
I personally think ZoS shouldn't have allowed any transfers at all, in a MMO world that's bad in various ways.
GTA 5 was delayed for PC for well over a year, some PC players bought it for consoles while they were awaiting for the release on their desired platform, dumped it and started a new even if they lost all single/multiplayer progress when it was available, but did they demand progression transfers from consoles to PC's? Nah they didn't and they shouldn't.
Games get delayed on numerous occasions, just gotta suck it up and be patient.
Not saying it's the players fault in this case, ZoS shot themselves in the foot with this one.

The reality is some people have a different interpretation of the opportunity Zos mentioned last year vs what Zos thinks. Those who didn't get in on the transfer are not going to have their old characters on consoles at launch.

It is Extreemly clear Zos isn't changing their mind, they have posted as much in response to threads like this one. Some have said Zos went back on their offer which if you truly think that's the case why waste your time with theses like this and just lawyer up. I do not think their is a case but it's clear this thread will not bring about change.

Oh, I'd also sugges not threatening action in the forums since it actually has a chilling effect and legal begins to handle it vs anyone else in the company.
