My apologies for being a bit behind schedule with this one. It has been a hectic week for me both in-game and in that "other" realm known as RL. I actually haven't yet had a chance to double-check my information, so a mistake or two might have slipped through. If you catch anything, please let me know. I'll do another sweep tonight to check.

    Cheers!

A old bug made a hopefully (temporary) appearance this week. Most (but not all) of the traders who acquired new owners are not showing their heraldry or guild name. You have to go into the actual store interface to see who owns the site. Irritating, but certainly not game-breaking.

As always, let me know if you find any mistakes. Happy shopping!

Wow, there's actually different guilds picking up what I would consider the most desirable locations. There is a lot more of changing hands than I thought throughout all of the traders.

...It's illegal via antitrust laws in the US/EU for good reason...

I'm not sure just what this statement brings to this discussion. Suffice it to say that US laws regarding anti-trust have absolutely nothing to do with MMOs and any 'fake' economy that may exist within those games.

Whether or not a group of GMs got together and formed an alliance of sorts to 'control' certain kiosks is beyond my knowledge. However...who cares? So what if some guild spend hundreds of thousands if not millions of gold to secure a trading kiosk. Do you know what kind of rules those guilds place on traders and the number of transactions that go on in those trading guilds?

What it comes down to is this simple fact: Any trade guild that is going to be successful MUST have an above average, active 'trading' membership. That is to say that the majority of members within the trading guild must be actively trading on a daily basis. This is the ONLY way for the trade guild to make money and if you want to secure a 'prime' kiosk location, that trade guild must be 'trading' in thousands of gold on a daily basis in order for the trade guild cut to amount to anything.

The more ACTIVE members, the more the trade guild makes in 'tax'. Some trade guilds just do not have the membership to be able to compete for 'prime' kiosk locations and some cannot compete enough to even continue to exist and fold very quickly. Some guilds DO have multiple 'chapters', meaning they have multiple trade guilds under one name or a similar name simply because the first trade guild cannot fit more then 500 members and they had to create a second or even a third guild. These guilds make millions and if they can afford to secure a 'prime' kiosk location because they can bid millions for it...more power to them. On the other hand if they are THREATENING other players, then they should burn in the fiery pits of hell and be banned form the game for those tactics. However, there is nothing wrong with legitimate bidding for any kiosk.

Beyond that, many guilds have raffles and giveaways and all sorts of contests to generate more cash and keep members active and HAPPY within the guild. Unhappy members = low membership = no profit = no kiosk. If you can manage to keep your trade guild membership at 400+ members, keep them trading, AND keep them happy, the trade guild will make money and you'll be able to afford those expensive kiosks.

Also, do not forget any of the Quartermasters within the keeps in Cyrodiil. If you already have use of a kiosk for your trade guild, a Quartermaster within a Cyrodiil keep is a SECOND store. Never underestimate the need of PvPers who run out of Tripots, buff food, invis pots, detect pots, and cold harbor siege weapons. Get them to your kiosk within Cyrodiil and they MAY just browse for more stuff if they find what they need to begin with.

Beyond the issues stated above, the biggest pressing need we have is to have the ability to HIDE kiosk bids from the regular membership of the trade guild and restrict it to management only. This will help eliminate the spies.

Don't blame the large trade guilds that legitimately work hard to make money and secure a 'prime' location week after week. However, if you get verbal threats, definitely report it.

All Outlaw Refuges are included in the list. That's what the "O.R." in the location column stands for.

Thank you for the update. I went ahead and played with some stats again.

I wish I could just copy and paste my table, but alas!...

    Week of 4/27
Guilds with no trader the previous week: 44 (30.1%)
Guilds that had a different trader the previous week: 19 (13%)
% of traders that have a different guild from previous week: 43.2%

    Week of 5/4
Guilds with no trader the previous week: 53 (36.3%)
Guilds that had a different trader the previous week: 21 (14.4%)
% of traders that have a different guild from previous week: 50.7%

    Week of 5/11
Guilds with no trader the previous week: 58 (39.7%)
Guilds that had a different trader the previous week: 15 (10.3%)
% of traders that have a different guild from previous week: 50%

    Week of 5/18
Guilds with no trader the previous week: 59 (39.7%)
Guilds that had a different trader the previous week: 12 (8.2%)
% of traders that have a different guild from previous week: 47.9%

    Week of 5/25
Guilds with no trader the previous week: 52 (35.6%)
Guilds that had a different trader the previous week: 24 (16.4%)
% of traders that have a different guild from previous week: 52.1%

    Week of 6/1
Guilds with no trader the previous week: 47 (32.2%)
Guilds that had a different trader the previous week: 21 (14.4%)
% of traders that have a different guild from previous week: 46.6%

So for that 6-week period, on average:

48.4% of Guild Traders have a different guild than they had the previous week
35.6% of Guild Traders have a guild that had no trader the previous week (whether they are a new guild or a guild that lost a trader for a week requires more study)
12.8% of Guild Traders have a guild that had a different trader the previous week (again, if this was because they won a bid at a new trader or if they lost the bid on their regular trader and were able to find an alternate requires more study)

Thanks for the stats! Knew that there was constant turnover, but it's nice to have some numbers to go with the raw data. As far as the last part concerning planned vs. desperation moves, that's something that you'll really only be able to figure out by looking at the locations involved on a case by case basis. Some moves will be easy to classify as planned or emergency, but others may not be so obvious. There are also cases where guilds work out a planned rotation ahead of time, and that can sometimes lead to some strange looking moves.

    Again, thank you!

Yes, and to outbid by just enough. Last week I caught another guild snooping in on my guild bank; the GM left the guild on Friday and immediately withdrew the sum of my guild bank's funds, plus another 30k, from their guild bank (of course, putting it back in Sunday night and bidding just above my operating funds).

Read this 10 times, still don't understand a word of it.
Could someone please explain to me how this is supposed to work ?

If youre too dense to understand what corporate espionage is and how it plays a part in the Guild Kiosk Bidding System. Then you should probably keep your mouth shut. Otherwise others will see how much of a fool you really are.

Okay. What happened with that trader was just plain weird. When I made my initial pass Monday morning, Geeh-Sakka was indeed unhired. I even broadcast the vendor's status in my guild chats to let people know if they had any other guilds who were looking for a trader. When I checked back with the vendor (I think around noon), it showed that she was claimed by Mudcrab Mercantile (the same guild that had it last week), and I went ahead and added that to the sheet.

    So... bug?

In any case, updating the sheet now for The Sidekick Order and SirAndy.

And thanks for the heads up.

I also implemented a small change with this week's update. In the "Last Week's Trader Location" column, I have added a numerical value for guilds who did not move during the current week. The number reflects how many weeks they have been in the same position. This is a feature that I added mostly for my own use to make it easier to find "change" weeks for specific guilds.
